typical bulls contantly hackign shit outa teams, who should have 40+ freethrows a game vs this hackery, and jordan doubl dribbling, carrying, and jsut takin tons of shot, tons ofuls of course called on other guys
Jordan has the greatest array of basketball-specific talents I've ever seen. The man was an ultra-competitive CYBORG! Give Nique his props too though, but damn, the way MJ blew by a speedy cat like Spudd is just ridiculous. Jordan was so far ahead of the rest of the league at this time...
They would have if Fratello was still coaching them, as they were much more competitive against the Bulls when he was there. This game is from the Bob Weiss era, in which the Hawks played zero defense and began their long descent into mediocrity.
other than this game and the Saturday, April 23rd, 1994 one against Orlando. They aired game 5 of the 1994 NBA Playoffs (Round I) against the Heat, Game 3 of the 1996 NBA Playoffs against the Magic and the 3rd and 4th games against the Chicago Bulls in the 1997 NBA Playoffs. However, didn't NBC air a April 1998 NBA game when the Hawks played the Heat at the Georgia Dome?
i like how u get to hear how michael had problems with general management of the team. its often forgotten. thats wat superstar players should be able to do.
See I love the way the game was commercialized back then. You actually get to hear the game instead of hearing tons garbage music all game. Is that real fan noises i hear instead of the bs fake crap they put over the speakers? Yes it is lol. NBA needs to go back to the classic way the game was televised.
I'm 21yrs old (1986 kid) and never got to watch Jordan...this is the first video I've seen of him (so far, and I'd like to see complete games to watch him play defense aswell) and he makes it look so easy...I can see why he's considered the greatest. Good video and TY for posting.
One of the reasons I put up these videos is so that younger people like you who never got to see MJ before can see the greatest of all time in action.
I was born in 1989, and I didn't really get to watch much MJ in his prime, but I would rather enjoy these types of NBA games today rather than now. I mean I like Kobe, LeBron, and Dwayne Wade, but they all pale in comparison to Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and other legends of the NBA during the 1980's and 1990's.
wow you are so right! The league is not SHIT now, compared to then!! It's just overpaid low skill, long hair'd punk kids!! David Stern do the words watered down mean anything to you??? great comment man!!
thanks. What a great upload. MJ's most fun the watch games are where he scores around 25 to 28 pts. He really goes all out attacking the basket. this 'Nique Air showoff stuff is so special. it cannot be described. too bad, 'Nique got injured the next regular season.
Michael was ignited, at this period his complete set of skills was converging. His jumper (always a weapon dont get me wrong) was elite and his drives were a delight.
We're on the same page jxn23, i also think this reverse dunk is one of the greatest of his or anyone for that matter.
I have this game. Aside from a couple of possessions where the screen n roll defense is indeed quite pathetic, the Hawks D on MJ was fine. He was double teamed nearly every time he posted up. They also brought the 2nd guy over whenever he looked to drive. Of course, given the Bulls' domination MJ wasn't trying much to score either. Could've easily scored 40+.
Welcome back JXN! Couldn't agree more...simply the best reverse dunk you'll ever see in a game. So smooth-so powerful...it looks like he's in slow mo!
"simply one of the best in game reverse dunks you'll ever see."
I agree. He basically sits in the air for a while with the ball between his legs. This one might be the best ever but the ones against Knicks and Cavs are also great. You can see MJ is really excited about the dunk himself as is Pippen.
Wow! Finally I see that reverse from game angle. Big thanks for the upload! Check out my MJ reverse dunks compilation to see it from a different angle. Crazy elevation on that one.
Thanks for the video, jxn23. Andgar, that was some bad defense, but on screen/rolls there was no other way to defend young Jordan than by going under the screen every time, or else he'd murder you. The only exception was if you had a very agile big man who could step out and trap him (Ewing/DRob etc.).
Thx for the up. Was it me, or was that some of the worst defense played against MJ as a team and by a player? I'm not sure how much of this is due to the editing, but that looked like some really bad defense. Bad rotation on screens, uncontested shots, no physical pressure it almost looked like today's modern defense.
Haha, I know what you mean - I think that jumpshot Jordan made at 3:14 was the most open of his career! You can blame it on my editing, but for most of the game the defence was pretty intense just that the Hawks didnt double team him much during the game. Oh, and MJ had a way of making things look a lot easier than they actually are.
it has nothing to do with the defense. jordan put up some monster offensive numbers against some of the greatest defensive teams in the toughest defensive era. the celtics, pistons, knicks, heat, cavs. just imagine jordan in his prime with the way they call games today and the new rules changes. its not far fetched to think hed avg 40ppg.
played 3 quarters and he had 9 rebs and 9 ast with 25pts on 10-13 shooting. could've had a triple double but that's MJ, he never played for stats. this actually happened a lot to MJ. simply amazing.

At around 4 mins. Marv Albert says "that gets the crowd going." And that was very true. The best part is that this game's in Atlanta.

A rare NBA on NBC game in Atlanta you can probably count on one maybe two hands how many times they televised games from the Omni
jaboo82681 3 years ago
yes the next game they did from the omni was when they clinched the eastern conference title 3 years later vs orlando
knicksfan89 3 years ago
BTW it was the one hand, they broadcasted 5 times from the omni
