The Treniers rocking out on Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis' Colgate Comedy Hour show in 1954, the very first broadcast of rock and roll on American national TV - according to Richard Blaustein. Thanks, Richard.
Oh please... America was hardly scared by these guys. They were considered simply fun, entertainment. To us kids at the time, they were just some fairly cool old guys, but nothing earth shattering or "revolutionary."
It's great to see this. We couldn't get American TV in the UK in 1954. Even if we could only the wealthy had a TV set! The average person (so called working class) listened to the wireless now called radio.
Rock before Elvis... or Alan Freed. Great stuff!

"Hard to believe now, but at the time this literally scared the sh!t out of America" Does the audience give a warm reception because they're France?

You read too many comic books - America loved this and sent it around the world.

This video exemplifies one of the reasons I love youtube so much. Getting to see something from before I was born that I never even knew existed.
