Or even, totally forgotten his first one, Panic in Needle Park. Scarface AT THE TIME got horrible reviews, and rightly so. In time, from a one-star, through a two-star movie, it turned into a 3-star 'classic'. Amazing 'transformation'. Al had other bad movies, but in neither was so bad.

Scarface was one of the first big budget remakes of old classics, Howard Hawks "Scarface". Unlike today, when kids think remakes are infinitely superior to their originals (if they even have heard about them) and a new generation of critics just bend over and accept the times, the critics compared the remakes with the originals to the last detail back in 1983. Naturally since Howard Hawks version was/still is better, the remake was hated.

In my mind it's a very average movie.
