Buck would have never made it big had it not been for the musical genius of Don Rich and there's some who say the ungrateful sonofabitch never deserved him. Perhaps the most unlikeable man in all of C & W--Buck Owens. Sure love to see Don's superlative licks though!

I love the story behind this song... The guys who wrote it were driving along, wanting to write a new song, and they kept passing Exxon stations, who had tigers on their signs, so they used that as the basis of the song. I think it's funny how such a huge hit could come from seeing too many Exxon stations... Lol, I love this son!!!!!!!!! :D

Wow -- 1969? That was the year we married, and the moon landing occurred-during our honeymoon. Amazing...brings back memories. I wasn't into country back then, but I do remember seeing/hearing this...probably cause of my Dad watching Hee Haw. What a hoot! (as in "hootenanny")

Right on!! Don is all over that Telecaster in this one!! I like the original bass guitar line over this one, though.
