  • Roger still has 800 of his own songs to choose from!!

  • Roger still has 800 of his own songs to choose from!!

  • Roger just had a cool-sounding voice..period! Even Disney used him. I am 47 now & we played Roger's music while driving , going on vacations when I was young. Always kept Me & my Brother quiet...except 4 singing along. Back then we used 8-track-tapes & We would always yell..."Track-1..Track-1" , becuz that was the track THIS SONG was on! Roger 's voice never got old. I wish He was still around , He was so creative! He might go years without a hit & BOOM , He was back on top again.Very talented!

  • To say this country don't care is wrong

  • Yeah agree Bobby Bare is a very cool Cat indeed, 500 miles is the best. Have a great weekend..Kiaora. From NZ small place..big heart...peace.

  • love from NZ...Anzacs ....Gallipoli...everyone b cool...

  • Great version. Powerful message too. I miss this guy, he's been gone now almost 20 years if you can believe it.

  • Always loved this one.

  • Better than Kenny any day

  • I love his voice.. But Cake give it the energy I prefer.

  • Love this!! Roger Miller did an awesome rendition of this great song!! (This is Cepedaman's wife -- Cris)

  • Roger Miller and Bobby Bare, in my opinion, are the best country artists, Also, check out Stoney Edwards and Roy Drusky-Long,Long, Texas Road. If you like this you may like Stoney Edwards and Roy Drusky.

  • Best version by far..

    Love it..

  • I think you guys are missing the main message within the song ! But if you still want to carry on and put your life on the line for a country and women that dont care a damn about you ? Go ahead, .

  • Of the at least two dozen versions of this song I have heard, none top this. Mel Tillis did indeed write it, many have recorded it, but to me, it belongs to Roger. Any other version simply pales in comparison. I'm sure some "Killers" fans will disagree, but they simply did a remake of the "First Edition's" version. Roger made it his own.

  • @hurikayne1 mel didnt write this song a man in metropolis illinoise named jr teitloff did he also wrote tom t halls raveshing ruby

  • Roger Miller sings this with much care and feeling than does Kenny rogers

  • "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town" was written by Mel Tillis

Roger Miller recorded the song on his 1967 album "Walkin` In The Sunshine" but it was made most famous by Kenny Rogers and the First Edition in 1969.

Mary (Arnold) Miller joined The First Edition in 1968.

Kenny Roger introduced Roger Miller and Mary Arnold and they eventually married.

    Thanks for sharing the song.
