  • a want have

  • Does anybody remember what the range and power of first generation automobiles was? It was racing leagues that helped advance car technology in performance and safety. There needs to be an all Electric counterpart to NASCAR and the technology will be advanced through necessity. Am i the only one that sees this?

  • 7 Shell gas stations dislike this video

  • Hey people if you don't like the car that don't comment because it's a cool car and most likely the best car look at it I got one on reserve

  • This would be mine if i could afford it. I'll take the 2012 electric ford focus. I only need like 40 miles on a charge, and thats on a heavy driving day. I want an electric car that can recharge in 5 minutes!!

  • @Saebeck32 Just change the battery over, you can quick swap it in 3 minutes apparently.

And the 85 kwh battery costs just under $12 to fully recharge at 14 cents a kilo-watt hour (my off peak rate) and just under double that at peak rates, so it's still far cheaper.

And that's the 300 mile model.

  • Nice looking car. I would buy one.

  • Electric cars arent Green ! Their production is so much more polluting than usual cars.

  • @DrMattyKay Oil is gonna run out eventually though... Electric car batteries are becoming smaller and more efficient and more parts of them can be recycled. When they become completely recyclable, they will be a lot greener... and when the electricty comes from renewable sources. They are getting better, but there's still room for improvement in EVs.

  • the future of the automotive industry is electric cars. The future of electric cars is a range of at least 175

  • this vehicle is soooo under reported i mean cmon this is pretty much a solution to the oil problem.

  • Great idea and great design. It's too bad batteries don't cut it.

  • @gerbear3 What do you mean?

  • Freaking brilliant!

  • We need millions of cars like this on the roads.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong. Tesla got a half billion dollar taxpayer loan guarantee so they can make $50K-$100K EVs for the 1 percenters? The Tesla investors get their money back from the U.S. taxpayers if the company fails. If they fail then all these Cali trust-funder fancy lads in this video don't lose a dime? America needs a $15K electric car, not this.

  • @Alvord1430 how can they afford to manufacture 200,000 $15k cars if they don't make money off of selling 20,000 of these $50k cars first?

  • @zachem66 The same way Nissan and Mitsubishi are doing it. They didn't start out with a $50K-$100K car. They started with a $30K-$35K car. I'm an EV owner. I didn't pay anywhere near $50K.

  • @Alvord1430 thats because nissan and mitsubishi are both companies that have been around for 100+ years and make hundreds of billions in revenue every year. tesla is a start up thats just 7 years old and the founders started the company with only 10s of millions. how can they afford billions of dollars to set up the manufacturing facilities and get upto par with nissan so quickly? they have no choice but to sell higher cost cars to make money first to make large quantities of a cheaper car.

  • @Alvord1430 if it looks like an ordinary electric car, how would that create enough money to fund for new ones? If they don't have enough money to research and develop a cheap EVs how do you expect them to actually run a business? Actually think about it for once.

  • Does anyone know if you can turn off the screen while driving?

  • Oh great, another $100,000 car barely anyone can afford.. Don't believe that $50k BS.

  • @dx398 believe it! (Naruto...)

  • DO THE CRITICS OF TESLA MOTORS ENJOY CHOKING ON PULLUTION FROM COMBUSTION ENGINE EXHAUST? IMAGINE A FUTURE, WHERE, THE CITY SMELLS LIKE THE COUNTRY. COME ON! WE CAN HAVE NICE THINGS.

  • @TrollOvGrimness Like hydrogen fuel cells. BEV's are not the answer, mark my words. They will not stand the test of time - stop gap technology.

  • @dx398 You are right. Tesla needs to focus on building a reasonably priced car for the masses or they will get their clock cleaned by Nissan and Mitsubishi who already have cheaper EVs. Normally, I wouldn't care, except Tesla has a Solyndra type taxpayer loan guarantee. Tesla investors aren't risking anything. The U.S. taxpayers are.

  • @Phookhaoling Your grammar is so amazing, it makes me want to kill myself.

  • I guess if you have 175,000 you can have a car run on whatever you want. ..but I don't -

  • With a 480 kilometre range, the model s is good enough for my day to day drive. However i agree with thecashhistrash, I'm going to wait for the second generation before i consider buying the model s because of the possibility of reliability issues

  • you are on a road trip, and then "oh shit i forgot the charger."

  • @abohthlool haha good one, but i would still buy this bad boy

  • I see tesla much like apple. They don't make cars that people want they make cars that people are going to want, there's the difference. You don't copy whats around now and try to better it, you make something no one else is doing and create desire for it.

  • @eldictator1 with a 300 mile range it makes it a practical everyday car with no range anxiety even for weekend trips. The question now is it going to be reliable? I would buy one of these cars but I gonna wait for second generation.

  • @eldictator1 I would never want an Apple computer, and no real person would.

    /braceforimpact

  • @eldictator1 I think there has been a desire for these cars for a long time. The industry is the one that got left behind because you had Lutz running the show.

  • @eldictator1

See, I think that analogy is invalid, because I don't think Apple makes the products that anybody wants. I think they buy out the good ideas and roll over smaller innovative companies. I mean do you really think Apple came up with the idea behind the ipod?

  • @eldictator1 you're a ignorant piece of horseshit. Its a car than can go around 500km on electricity instead of oil. Its a car with elegance, without sound. Mabye it doesnt have that 67' style but its a viecle to get from a to b with elegance and you can do it with a good conscience.

    Think twice bitch.

  • @eldictator1

    "going to want"

    Example:

Why would anybody want to siphon away loads of cash for Crapple i7 laptop at $2500, when they can virtually attain the same hardware configuration for $1000-1500 as a PC? Because its pretty looking? Macs are by no means safer either. In fact, Mac products usually are the first to fall like flies every annual pwn2own hacking contest.

  • I want a Black one with Red leather interior! Wow the big 17 inch screen is a dream come true.

  • "Let the future tell the truth and evaluate each one according to his work and accomplishments. The present is theirs; the future, for which I really worked, is mine"

    Nikola Tesla

  • I'd buy raw, polluting, brutish '67 Mustang for me, and a Tesla Model S for the family.

  • Does anyone know why there's a grill?

  • @tedirelan Even electric motors generate heat. Gotta keep them cooled.

  • @rusher38 Okay, cool. Thanks

  • design kinda reminds me of buick

  • With the profits of the Model S, they plan to produce a third model codenamed "BlueStar" with technology from the Model S and Roadster. The best part is that it'll only cost between $20,000 and $30,000.

  • @Fallout3pwns1 i just looked it up! man its almost too good to be true, for some reason i think our govt is going take it away from us, some way!

  • Tesla Motors, announced that his electric car company "will build a high-performance version of the Model S that will go zero to 60 (mph) in 4.5 seconds. That's faster than a Porsche 911 Carrera."

  • If they make a more affordable car I would surely buy it, I wish I had the cash for one of these.

  • I saw one pic on their site where the grill was more like an Aston Martin. Too bad they didn't keep it. It's still in their gallery pics for the Model S. Is it an option?

  • @Warpath2198 Cars started out the same way in the early 1900s toys that only the rich could afford, so your argument is pointless, its the nature of economics due to cost of production, the good news is the rich will buy them and it will trickle down to mainstream population sooner than you think! I'm guessing anyone criticizing this progress are oil company employees or shareholders LOL don't think you guys need to worry yet

  • i love this car! but all that space like 20 cubic feet of trunk space, but they only put one cup holder in the car. :( come on Tesla seriously?

  • mazda was at the bar with maserati and jaguar, and then this car came along 9 months later.

  • Comment removed

  • this is AWESOME! this car makes conventional cars look really primitive

  • i read ~ max 50.000€

  • the only challenge facing electric cars is the oil industry, we would have 1k mile range electric vehicles 30yrs ago using capacitors if the oil biz didnt flood the market with pollution

  • @Giggidygiggidy12 Really? Where is it? All I see is cars with 30k+ price tags with laptop batteries slapped inside of them. Oil is still the best and cheapest portable fuel source on the planet.

  • how much does this vehicle cost??

  • @dominique700 57k

  • how much this vehicle cost??

  • look like a maserati

  • I want It

  • Genius!! I can't wait!

  • the only retarded design though about this car is the touch screen dash. WE DONT WANT ANYMORE TOUCHSCREEN CRAP. it's to Californian for it's design. We want something mechanical that has feel. KNOBS.etc. Also that touchscreen drains the battery more.

  • @tehatemachine Don't try to speak for everyone, speak for yourself. I want the touchscreen, as do millions of other people, you are the first compliant I have heard over the huge 17inch touch screen. So again, speak for yourself and don't try to act like you are the voice for all the consumers....

  • what the electric car actually needs inorder to set it free, Is a battery that can be instantly recharged and doesn't loose it's power over time. WORK ON IT ENGINEERS, oh wait they already are, some are trying to use 3 dimensional cells.

  • I don't want any other car in the world besides this one, we've all been waiting far too long for the car of the future and it's going to be here next year

  • How does it carry 7? Are they including two rear facing child seats?

  • The Model S can carry 7 passengers by loading 2 in the trunk. LOL.

  • 5 oil company CEOs watched this video.

  • @r3vmixman Normally I dislike these 'missed the like button' comments because they're stupid. But yours truly made me laugh. Thumbs up. Fuck the oil companies.

  • @r3vmixman and shared with more 2, they are 7 by this moment... Sad thing I agree...

This car beats 90% of the actual gas powered cars in it's design... It's so briliant!

  • jaguar xf???

  • @joedimaggio2

    no ??!

  • im getting one=) GO TESLA I WILL PROMOTE YOU JUST MAKE SURE THOSE BATTERYS WORK GOOD! 300 mile should be standard. set yourself aside from the others . if the 300 mile was standard for the 49k i personaly know at least 2 people who would buy it right now.

  • show this to those British bastards at Top Gear who think Americans cant built cars!!!

  • @patdfig5 You can't. The future is hydrogen & the Japanese are already there.

  • @TheOneNo20 sadly you are mistaken, hydrogen is too expensive, extremely flammable (more so than gasoline). It is also difficult to mass produce hydrogen

  • @patdfig5 Perhaps you should look at the UK governments official websites. The UK is investing heavily in hydrogen as BEV's have a poor public perception over here. We already have hydrogen buses running in London, have opened up the first public hydrogen filing station & have indigieonous companies designing & producing their own HFC's. The idea that hydrogen will somehow create an explosion is simply wrong. Hydrogen as used in HFC's is stored as a gas & is perfectly safe.

  • @TheOneNo20 What if it meets a gas vehicle?

  • he just took a world record in saying awesome...

  • One day I will have one

  • Looks like an aston martin :P

  • Well if the morons at Tesla can stop gloating in stupidly and build an affordable electric car for the rest of us, would be great. Instead yet again another greedy american company that will open the door for china and japan to meet consumer demands.

  • @unitedagainstevil2

They were a starter company and chose to go luxury to gain attention and credability.

They're making a low cost version in the next two years. It's after the model S has been out a while.

  • uhh, yeah. THIS IS AMAZING! WANT!

  • Awesome car, However the editor needs to learn how to color correct plus some of the cuts were horrible. Now back to the car. Once the first version comes out and they work all the little bugs that are bound to be in a car like this. I'll pick up Model S 2.0...

  • She will be mine. OH yes, she will be mine...

  • I'm into this project, I love the EV idea, but the design is a pure Jaguar + Maserati knock-off

  • @AudX a knock off? its fucking beautiful

  • @BumbleBeeGS Watch closely, and you will see ;) Stil I don't mind smart knock offs. Finally I admire Teslas technology, and dedication to tech-design purity (they stated clearly they will never go for hybrid and I respect that). The car looks handsome, no doubt. But it is "higly inspired" by Maserati/Aston (front) and Jag (rear)

  • @AudX Yeah im definitely getting one if i ever have the money. Bought a lottery ticket tuesday and the drawing is tonight for 105 million. first thing id do is call up tesla :)

  • Same here. But my concern is the Battery Life. Batteries tend to lose power in 5 years.

  • @tnguyen318 They have at least a 10 year warranty if i remember correctly. They're also looking into capacitors to hold energy as well. They're more efficient.

  • I think Warranty is for if the battery fails. Other than that it will begin to deplete the moment it leaves the Factory. Modern Alkaline Batteries have an expiration date if you look on the back of the packaging. Ask your dealership before buying a pure battery powered vehicle. What are capacitors?

  • 10 Year Warranty is Awesome. What about the electric motor? Can you go 3,000 miles non-stop?

  • @heartlessvietboy Assuming you had 10 fully charged 300 mile range batteries the same way i'd assume you have enough money for all the gasoline youd use in a traditional car, then yes. Its liquid cooled as opposed to alot of other electric engines which are air cooled. The engine creates a rotating force by a change in polarity. There are no parts that touch each other which means no wear.

  • Electric (Magnetic) motors are liquid cooled?

  • @heartlessvietboy Tesla's yes. They make their own electric motors. If you're insinuating that an electric engine does not generate heat and would not need cooling then you're wrong. Have you ever attached speaker wire to a 12v car battery? I do this to temporarily make my screw drivers magnetic if they aren't already. But if you leave the speaker wire on there long enough, then you will melt the insulation because the amperage is heating the wire.

  • What insulation are you talking?

  • @heartlessvietboy The insulation on the wires. What else?

  • You mean around the copper electrical wires? The rubber?

  • @tnguyen318

Battery technology is constantly being updated so there's no issue there.

  • My Father's DeWalt Nickel Metal Power Drill seems to be doing pretty well. He's been owning it for a long time. From what I'm seeing power level still works like new however I don't know how fast it depletes compared to the first usage.

  • Very nice Car, cant wait till its in production :D regarding the dash with touch screen and keeping eyes on the road, i think you will get used to the locations of the buttons and wont have to look, i change stations and volume on my current audio setup without looking to see or feeling for the buttons. Seems cool to me.

  • I'm definitely getting one. With the $7,500 Electric Vehicle credit and not having to pay for gas, the difference from a $35K car will be made up in just one year!

  • breath taking shape this EV has, superb design, intelligent dashboard, wow!! well done indeed, bravo

  • we need an electric pick up truck !!!

  • I agree with kamikaze.

The practicality of having knobs on the dash, to help you keep your eyes on the road cannot be replaced with a touch screen.

    Other than that, Great Car.

->I love the 3 seat bench in the back. Its what you can do when you don't have an Exhaust pipe tunnel.

->300 miles sounds good. But couldn't help noticing him say the UPTO. But the battery pack is replaceable, so we can always upgrade.

->$50 Grand is about right as well

  • Beautiful ride. Can't wait!

  • change that screen with nobs and stuff.....we don't need an Iphone car !!

  • WOW!

  • I ll buy one 4 sure!

  • A surfborad, a 50" TV and a mountain bike, at the same time...

Why would you have those three things in any car at the same time unless you were moving house?

  • why do they cost so much 50k

  • I hope that run on gasoline and electricity together

  • @rashedm001 nope.

  • @melovetorun

Thank you for the information my friend but the world is not ready yet Services Need a long time and the battery you need to develop and door handles do not like and I hope that the body of the car from solar panels on my own for you Reading Holy Quran

    Once in your life

  • @rashedm001 You bring your fairy tale quran book into the equation? alah does not exist. Look at fossilized evidence that proves Evolution and not a homophobic, free speech hating and sexist cult piece of shit!

  • @melovetorun

Prejudgments this your problem, my friend

  • rip nikola tesla.. the genius from balkan

  • Looks like a 4 door Aston Martin

  • @ogarzabello That's what I was thinking as well. It's a really good looking car... something no other American car maker can do.

  • You know, I'm all for "green"...really I am...but here's yet another example of technology which will only be available to a smaller market that could afford a sedan for over $50,000 before taxes and financing. Going green is about making life easier a more affordable. I only wish Tesla success if they make cars within a price range that people can afford. They have 2 models...this one and another that starts at over $100,000...they are obviously not talking to the majority.

  • @Devils1stBorn There are rumors of them planning for a cheaper car in the future. Technology just needs to be developed more so prices can come down. Like the first CD burner ever available to public cost in the thousands. now you can buy a cheap DVD burner for about 20 bucks. Just wait and im sure prices will fall down.

  • @Devils1stBorn

Actually, the model s starts at $49,000 and the roadster starts at $109,000

  • @Devils1stBorn They've halved the price of their first model (less than half if you count federal and state incentives), and increased its efficiency by something like 40%. I'd say they are on the right track. They have 4 more models based upon this platform planned for the near future. Tesla has a great opportunity to reinvent the American auto industry. I'd buy one of these. No doubt.

  • @voxveho Have you taken notice to the huge disparity in price when trying to upgrade to a battery setup which can get you decent mileage?

  • @Devils1stBorn Yes. But this is going to change. Batteries will become exponentially cheaper and lighter over time. It's a great step forward. People of the world should be happy that there is someone doing something different and exciting.

  • @voxveho I agree with you, they are a bit expensive but without a doubt, it would be a kick-ass ride! It's a shame GM and Chrysler won't build a pure electric.. And the Volt doesn't qualify, it still uses gas to reach 300 miles..

  • Battery electric vehicles face several challenges. The main problem right now is power loss of current Battery Technology. Batteries lose power over-time thus rendering the vehicle useless. Second is how environmental they are. Lithium is a Chemical-Metal Battery that can contaminate soil. However, there's still great hope for the Future of Electric Vehicles. Researchers right now are experimenting on an Ultra-Capacitor Type Generator that could possibly be the fuel source of the future.

  • @heartlessvietboy For these cars to even compete and become mainstream, they are going to have to be efficient and affordable. Until then, they will be nothing more than morale high ground toys for the rich.

  • Affordable and Practical doesn't mean they can become mainstream. The ignorance I here. Lets get with reality. If we want electric cars out there, we have to sell them. And you sell them by making them, not by speaking about them for the past 20 years.

  • They lessen the price for the Tesla Roadster?

  • i open the garage door and this car rolls in and i JIZZ IN MY PANTS!

  • Tesla could become the ford of the 21st century if this does well. When he said firmware updates, you know Tesla is going in the right direction. When we can update our cars...that's the future.

  • video is kinda gay

  • Love the touches on door handels, the Tesla sign on the side, pleeenty of boot space. This is changing the game.

Central console is I think a little bit dangerous, because it takes too much time touch the commands, and it's easy to make a mistake while driving.

Just like Iphone, it's impossible to text while driving.

  • Yes, it look's like Aston at the back, and front is not exacly following the back lines, because it' slim, and too round... Despite all that it's beautifull, and I like this progress, and all you guys here let's give them a little credit OK.

I wish there is some companies in EU to bild cars like this.

Go Tesla - let's wish them luck to find better bateries, and we are ON :)

  • Looks good, is great for the environment, and it's cheap to boot.

  • Did anyone else freak out thinking your monitor was going out at 3:06?

  • @lakepunk

    ..No?

  • This designer started with a clean sheet

    but it's so good-lookin'

it ended up having a wet spot

  • makes Aston Martin look like ass

  • SHUT THE FUCK OFF!!! All you do is copy ASTON MARTIN!!

    A* HO !!!!

  • @i7rs So, their first car was just a Lotus. get over it.

  • @deedundone First they tried to copy Lamborghini and now copy cat of DBS!

  • @deedundone I know why they tried to copy Lambo at that stage as well.

  • guys on my language "tesla" means sperm :D :D

i really fall in love with this car but i will not buy because when my friend will ask

hey dude what a nice car, whats that?

i can not answer "dude this car is sperm model s"

  • why the hell all these cars in the world are trying to look like Aston Martin?!

  • This car is love at first sight!!!!!!!!!

  • patience... it be still here and better

  • can u update the desktop look of the ui? and speedo and revometer?

  • Can u imagine a tesla car with a Witts quantum field generator as its power supply to replace the 6k + batteries, ud never need recharging again!!!!! if i win the lottery id definently ask the fellas at Witts to install on into one of these beautys.

  • beautiful ride.

  • This company is American, correct? Silicon-valley based? I am really looking forward to this company, I hope it goes far. The other American car companies could learn a lot from the clean energy focus.

  • Thanks Piscataway!

  • This car gives Aston Martin a run for their money, when it comes to great looks. I hope this car is affordable and best of luck to Tesla.

  • @Bmants It's gonna cost around $60,000

  • @piscataway53 for the base 160 mile. 80k for the 300 mile.

  • Stunning....just stunning!

  • okay youtubers you are so dumb for real let me make it up straight ford electric focus without electricity nissan leaf without a tree volt without voltage those are mini battery powered cars but when you come to tesla its lighting on a tesla tower killa so you can run and tell that homeboy

  • whoever disliked this is stupid, this car looks great and will be safe. Just hope you guys make that battery pack strong because I've bottomed out in small cars before.

  • This... car... is... gorgeous....

  • So why should we start building electric cars? Because, latest report I've heard indicates there is enough lithium to produce 4 BILLION electric cars. Take that, oilcompanies.

  • @Nichen I hope theirs more than that man. Because last time I checked there was like 6 BILLION people.

  • @SuperKenny720 sure but how many cars are there today? about 700 million.

  • @SuperKenny720 Good point, but I'd think over time it would be used up fast. Cause it's used in batterys and phones. Bolivia is going to become the next saudi arabia off this shit. So in those aspects it's no diffrent than oil.

I do support cleaner energy though.

  • @SuperKenny720 yeah but it's a good start. And the fact that you can recycle these batteries over and over again ensure that it will be much easier to monitor the world consumption if you compare to oil where the price is almost 100 $ per barrel now. Glad to hear you support clean energy :)

  • this car is going to fail so hard

  • great tesla is coming up hey guys also i think tesla should hire ted willams( the homeless with golden voice) as their voice for presentations whos with me? !!!

  • @bonds911 he's certainly been recycled! :o)

  • @bonds911 thats just dumb.............
