Lars Ulrich is one of the best drum players for two main reasons: 1) he is very simple and capable of adjusting the beats to Metallica song, and 2) which is even more important, he's a nice guy and shows emotion when he's playing the drums and likes to do things with the crowd, in other words, he's close to his fans. No technical quality is as important as being close to your fans
