Youngdave: fact is that it was originally a type of hip hop... these guys just aren't very articulate but Drexciya and Cybotron definitely sound more similar to hip hop. All you need is to look at the history of the TR 808 to see that connection... Hip hop drifted towards a less electronic sound in the 90s but is still where the idea of electro emerged. Look up Herbie Hancock and then comment on where electro came from.
