Not to take anything from the man today.... he still sounds great!
Wow, can't believe I finally found this song. This song I remember as a kid but I couldn't remember the name of the song and It drove me nuts for many years.
Another song I just found was, tired of toein the line.
Steve Lukather, Ray Parker Jr., Carlos Santana: Guitars
David Foster, Don Grolnick: Keyboards
David Foster, David Paich: Synthesizers
David Hungate, John Pierce: Bass
Jeff Porcaro, Rick Marotta, Joe Vitale: Drums
Adrian Tapia: Sax
David Lasley, Sharon Redd, Charlotte Crossley, Venetta Field, Paulette Brown, Julia Tillman, Oren Waters, Bill Champlin, Rosemary Butler: Background Vocals
@polarmolar Strange, as this song is rockin.' It's almost as if Boz Scaggs gets overlooked as pop, when in reality he is a genre chameleon. This is straight up rock... and on the same album (Middle Man) you got disco with "Simone," funk/R&B with "Jojo," and something close to New Wave with the titular track. And this is coming from a 24 year old ;-)
you have some of my faves! and i like your beginning and just the album cover....sometimes i like pics of trees, but this lets me concentrate on the song...
Never hear this one anymore-of all things I remember is hearing this song as my '73 Dodge turned 100,000 miles near Winchester, Indiana, probably over WOWO in Ft. Wayne. No the car did not break down (then). Was summer , 1980.
I liked this album better than Silk but that's just my view, the good thing is he still tours even played Australia a couple of times in the past few years until other artists
I remember when this song was just an instrumental without words and Boz Scaggs played it at a live concert back in 79 with his back-up musicians who would be later known as "Toto" (remember those guys?). They rocked the place when they played this song - with no lyrics, mind you! Later on he put words to the music for this great sounding track for this album. Well done, Boz. One of my favorite songs!
@spanishkisser actually those guys were known as Toto at the time as well..toto released there first album in 77 but still did alot of session work on the side for many including Silk wich David Paich co wrote. just a little fyi
Wonder if Boz was a smoker back then? How else to explain the smoke comin' outta his mouth?

Cool! One of his best ever that really should get more attention/airplay by oldies stations.
Sly lines like "Before you go south/with your big mouth/better check your heart" make this one a treat.
