Severine - a little lady with a huge voice! The song just stays in your mind- it deserved to win. Karina's 'mundo nuevo' for Spain was terrific too, but ruined by the brass band - type finale and a shrill high backing singer.Love the German singer Katja too and her song

Frankly I'm still unable to understand how come this song won. It has little to no rythm. It just drags itself to boredom. The lyrics are nothing special. Sure, it's a strong performance, but by far not the strongest that night, and certainly not the best voice either.

Wouldn't it be good to think ( if this song had not been written and performed in 1971), that , if it were to be written now and someone of equal talent came on stage in Germany next year and gave it as good a performance , it would still win by an outstanding margin, and no pretty boy jumping around with a fiddle, or no gorgeous little minx in a little black dress could do anything to deny its deserved place as the paradigm of Eurovision songs?
