The tower ballroom is still very much in use - every day throughout the summer months and weekends during winter. The music is shared between the mighty wurlitzer and a more modern electronic Wersi organ.
The dance on this video is a sequence dance which explains why all the dancers are dancing the same steps.
Its well worth a visit even if you don't dance, just sit and listen to the wonderful music.
I love how the whole room is dancing as one group and of course the little "clap" here and there - marvelous! So glad to know that places like this still exist and are still put to good use - - and the organ too.
Blackpool Tower ballroom is still in use. Evem though I've only been twice, I've never seen it that busy!! The wurlitzer at Blackpool is fantastic and I sat on the highest balcony and saw the wurlitzer ascend and descend and they played 'Beside the Seaside'. Its an experience to go in that room. Fantastic!
This is blast from my past. I was a Butlins Redcoat in Blackpool and some of used to go regularly to practice dancing n the Tower. It's a real magic moment when the Wurlitzer comes up through the floor with the organist playing Beside The Seaside. I would really love that clip!!! Thanks for this video.

blackpool ballroom is amazing i cant dance but love just to sit and watch and listen to the amazing wurlitzer a really special place

I have never seen the Ballroom so full. Not just the floor but in the balcony's aswell.

The sequence dance is called The Barn Dance. Its a nice party dance and nicer still if its done progressive(changing partners after the clap).
