ummm, it's not an inhalant if not used and inhaled by someone for a purpose not intended. So, yes, his bad decision to use the inhalant and the inhalant itself, which caused him to pass out, caused the accident.
inhalants didnt cause the car crash, he did by inhaling it while driving. how about i stab myself in the neck while driving and cause a car crash and the news paper says knife causes car crash
