Why is it that everytime I hear beautiful irish music I see comments from people with potty mouths? Some of them may be supportive, but it just ruins the entire feel of the music.
Comhaltas is such an amazing channel- amazing for it's wonderful treasury and sharing of traditional Irish music- also amazing for it's utter lack of taste in the commercials it chooses... for traditional Irish music is a rural thing of the heart and wood, not a noisy urbane thing of American vampires, hard rock, and other such plastic irrelevance. The pysche of the Comhaltas chief is that of a migrated Dubliner 'in tune' with pop culture- & yet guilty for having left the farm in Sligo
he is not sad he is totally focused not to lose himself. they are playing more or less some melody with some little changes i really can caught the structure for first and unique time i will listen because for me is so much bucle sound.
i admire but this song should finish in minute 2 no more
is just an opinion, i got tired listening at the end of the song and i was amazed at the beginning so not sure if i like it
This Celtic music is excellently embodied through the Irish flute, no matter which player it would seem. When it comes into the song its always magical.
whilst i realise that white people dont really have that much of their own native music, please dont steriostype here. ANY steriotyping, any steriotyping at all is bad. besides, the english for instance have trumpets as their native instrument, and much of that sounds lovely. scottish bagpipes also sound beutifull when you think about it. feel free to state your oppinion but dont bring race into any kind of argument please.
good job! Not an easy feat to accomphish - especially at such a young age....looks like they are really trying - not unhappy - just full of concentration !! BEAUTIFUL - thanks for sharing : )
lovely set, and louise is not too tough on the eyes as well.
can anyone shed some light on the second jig? i'm pretty certain that on the full set episode with molloy and carthy, as well as on their pathway to the well album, they call it the pride of rock chapel. but i can't find any reference to it under the title given here and i definitely know of another tune with the name humours of castlefinn.
It sounds alright, but real Irish music is played with warmth and emotion, not uptight and cold expressions. It's like the difference between Campbell's and your grandmother's homemade chicken noodle soup.
@sushidudeiscool Uptight and cold? Really? I heard the expression in the music. Visually, that's just Mick's style and the Louise and Michele were in the zone so to speak. Beautiful ! Close your eyes and listen again.

Hi friends i composed a song called "A Lovely Day in Ireland" and played with harmonica. You can find it on my channel. I love irish music and culture. Affections from Turkey to All people who like irish music
Simple system flute (keyless) that were in existence prior to the now-popular Boehm flute. Although the keyless version is a new development. This flute in the 1800s would have 8keys to make it fully chromatic down to C. Not sure the maker, but it is wood! Patrick Olwell maybe?
Lovely song...:)

I heard so many Irish jigs like these on a recent holiday to County Clare and think it is the most wonderful form of music.
I will be returning to Ennis in September and I cannot wait to visit the bars again to hear these fantastic jigs!
Thanks ever so much for posting - now it's time for a pint of Guinness!
