KC was with in a game to going to the show. Montana and Marcus Allen and the KC D came close. Joe had some great games with KC and it proved Montana's success wasn't 100% due to Bill Walsh 9er scheme. Ask any player of that era and they'll co-sign he was special. When Farve got KO'D last Sunday it reminded me of Joe getting KO'd. Joe completed his pass though.

They were down by 2 touchdowns at the start of the third. That is still well within Montana's ability to come back from. At the end of the 2nd was when Montana was intercepted in the endzone...ball went right through his recievers hands and was then picked....that would have made it a one TD. So would have been awesome to see how this would have played out if he didn't get that concussion.

Second, I'm not a niner fan, but it never seemed right to see Montana in the Chiefs colors. Just some players don't look right in any uniform outside of the team they were a star with. Perfect and classic example: Joe Namath in a Rams uniform.

i love joe montana. but i was never angry at the 49er organization when they traded him. they had to. he was a warrior, but he had been through too many battles. steve young was going to take the niner organization into the 90's, and he had to start somewhere. that is why i hate when niner fans say that joe would have won us 2 or 3 more superbowls. no way. joe was too old. that dallas defense would of hurt him again.

@kavaholic I think Joe very well could have pulled another Super Bowl out of his helmet, so to speak. His receivers were dropping VERY catchable balls the whole time he was at KC. Honestly, Marcus Allen was about the only guy he could throw to that he could count on to catch the ball. For every great catch, there were two that should have been receptions. Imagine if he still had the 9er receivers on the other end of those balls. He still was the most knowledgable field general then.

I just highly doubt it, based on the fact that Joe wouldn't have been able to withstand another huge hit. That Dallas defense in the early 90's was pretty relentless. Stevie was a mobile qb and he got punished by that Dallas D. Just look back at the 49ers O-Line in the 90's and compare it to the O-Line that Joe had in the 80's. Joe wouldn't have been protected as well.

Why don't you go look at how often Marino threw the ball as compared to Montana. Check how more often Marino threw it, then compare his yards per attempt with Montana's and see who was more productive. LOL!!! Marino had a fantastic line and great receivers, threw the ball often. Montana was more concerned with spreading the ball around, balance, and winning than a lot of empty bloated passing numbers against weak AFC 1980s and 90s competition like Marino had.

Sorry, Shula's Marino 'Always' had a great line the years he put his best numbers up. Pro Bowlers and HOF like Stevenson, Newman, Foster. His release and strong enough protection and 2 Pro Bowl receivers, and he threw constantly vs weak AFC Ds. When his line couldn't protect him, he folded like a cheap suit. His overall game couldn't touch Montana's - and in the nasty NFC, and one only needs to open D eyes and watch some to see it. Dan was a great pocket passer, that's true. Next to Namath.
