You'll find few, even now, who can truly capture the soul of this poem as well as Robert Donat. He had a rare gift for poetry, and this is an absolute delight. Thank you for posting. if you'd like to find out more about the sublime Robert Donat, do visit our new blog: robert hyphen donat dot com.
Having just watched "Bright Star" and listened twice to the reading by the actor who plays Keats so well, Ben Wishaw, I mean no disrespect to say that I could not listen to this one past about a minute. I get how this actor may be providing a more authentic 19th century reading in some sense, but Wishaw's speaks to me both as Keats and somehow today. Of course, Wishaw has the advantage of coming over the course of two hours to embody Keats, and his reading is totally consistent with that.
i honestly did't know what to think when i clicked on this vid. really liked it though, this guy narrating almost has a (slightly higher pitched) Vincent Price thing goin.
I am speechless, the reciting of this, poem and the production of the video, have been done beautifully.
Thankyou to whoever produced it.

Lovely poem by Keats and read with such eloquence. Adored him in films with Greer Garson - sauve, sophisticated and charming. Great Post.

My composition just for someone like you-
Beauty in serene lines,
Mortals shall always find,
Unwithered and still appealing,
Through seasons of bits and bytes.
And through this virtual life,
Little wizards of facts and numbers,
So long as thou ferry Poesy,
Shall again fall in love with Thee.

Do I hear a little Vincent Price/Edgar Allan Poe resemblance around 4:26-4:32?
Exceptional recording! What talent!
