Why does it take more talent? Please elaborate on your point? I fail to see how using other features somehow equates to having less talent. You know there was a time when turntables had no pitch faders, and when they came in the old school jocks said it was cheating, the technology did it for them. What it comes back to is, using your own ridiculous theory, if you aren't performing the music live, yourself, then you're doing less than someone else could, regardless of format.
@ek42596 2000s will have a few more features but your set up is more than enough for clubs or parties or whatever. you don't really need the 2000s for the price they are your set up is better
Yeah exactly. That's why i think Pioneer kinda make's this a too big deal. They should have even made a touch screen for the CDJ-2000 since its so awesome.
The CD player's/CDJ's are late. These features have been around in virtualdj for a couple of years and should have been around for CD's too. Some cheap CD players do support these features.
like 600 euro more than a CDJ 1000, just because you can skip farther into the track and connect USB or system link them to a pc?
That is not worth 1200 between 2 new Cd players.
I'll stick with my macbook pro and vinyl. I'm no fanboy, but damnit they look better and they let me do more stuff than these things and they also look cooler.
Go on, thumbs down all ya like. But someone with real balls would tell me why I'm wrong.
I'll tell you why... you said it yourself in your comment. Essentially this player allows you to leave your computer at home yet have the convenience of carrying around all your music on a searchable portable medium like a hard drive. And only one copy of it is needed -- link up to four players together and you've got access to the music across all players.
Yeah, but its all well and good that you say you're LEAVING the computer at home, but you've still got the computer. You've got two, connected with these lan cables.
You'll also need your hard disk or usb drives or whatever and its ultimately no different. in terms of what your carrying or what you can achieve.
I will say CDJ's are lighter, much lighter than my Technics M5Gs.
But they're NOT worth 1800. They just are not worth that. Although I understand you'll never agree with me on that.
I spent most of last year running mine. I COULD NOT navigate my library on it, I needed a certain song and I couldn't find it in a certain folder or whatever. It was very difficult to cover requests during a set.
I now use a Macbook Pro, I type in the track on my finder window, it finds it, I drag it into my decks on Traktor and I'm set.
I see no sense in buying these CD players and using "record box" just to end up where I already am in terms of functionality.
@PioneerProDJMedia OR you can just take your laptop with Ableton/Traktor/Serato and midi controller with you ... but I guess then you guys would be out of business right ? :)
the new wave display, the ability to browse through large librarys easily and the usb interlink with traktor etc is what justifies the price difference.
true, they are overpriced, but so are the cdj 1000 and the djm series. pioneer takes a lot of money, but until someone comes out with a better product at a lower price, i'm sticking with them.
for myself, i'm still happy with my 9 year old cdj 1000, but if the 2000 get cheaper some day i may consider switching.
@gavbag1234 i totally agree. its not worth 1200 just for the convenience of leaving your laptop at home. its only that price because thats what they can get away with charging simply because theres no other real competition and it has pioneers name written on it
This is why vinyl takes more talent. No offense, but this is nearly (if not exactly) as ridiculous as laptop DJ-ing.

Hey People,
Any1 know the answer to my question?
I've got two Pioneer CDJ 1000s and a Pioneer DJM 800 mixer, I just bought Serato Scratch Live SL3 and its in the post, so me question is...
Having the decks, mixer + serato i have, will this do everything the Pioneer CDJ 2000's will?
Or more...?

@PioneerProDJMedia but to link it with 4 decks only works when u have the djm 2000 and that really sucks for those who have a djm 800
