I love the unintentionally hilarious, self absorbed, self important intro to this video. It practically encapsulates the entire attitude of the eighties. "We're a fruity pop band playing communist China; we're real trailblazers. We truly are the world." Your opinion. My opinion is that it was one of China's first attempts to allow Western pop culture in. The same battle is now being fought in regards to the Beijing Olympics, but since Wham's appearance there, and the video's very human look at a people we were supposedly a pseudo-enemies with quite recently, I think was a great red carpet for China's transformation, which has only just begun.
