went to high school on Long Island with Dorian (though I didn't know her) and, yes, she was lovely then and clearly still is. I became a fan of the album "Wilder" when it came out in 1981, and later, when I found out Julian had married Dorian, I thought, "Wait a minute. I know her. What a star! He makes the album and gets the girl!"

My first and probably last comment but I went to her house last month to sweep the chimney and what a woman. She told me about one of her heroes some American who lived in a cabin and chopped his own wood and she was so charming that I ended up chopping wood for her. I would freak if this was a member of my family IE all kinds of strangers making personal comments and such. I did used to go to Eric's thou not that I was ever aware of seeing Julian there, they used to have a Matine of a Sat afternoon so I used to finish my paper round get my dosh and go and see Crass of Joy Division or some shit, you can't make this s kind of stuff up, did used to see Pete Burns a lot but he was hard to miss and he used to work in Probe, so it was difficult not to see him.

She is Dorian Cope, the very cool woman who happens to be legendary musician/writer/neolithic expert Julian Cope's other half. They were married in 1985 and have been together since 80 or 81...a couple who made it against all the odds. A great love story documented in Julian's 2 autobiographies 'Head On' and 'Repossessed', the best books on rock and rool and, well, life I have ever read...and you will like them even if you have never heard a Cope song....go get 'em!

I don't know much about the MC5 but I've got to say that she is one of the nicest ladies. A couple of weeks ago:She was waiting for her daughter and was reading a book about Patti Smith, I recognised her from The Modern Antiquarian. She told me how to find Windmill Hill and answered some of my questions about Silbury, was really modest saying how much more Julian knew but she was so interesting abd friendly. What a very cool lady.
