Tink I sold cars and If you want to talk about exploitation a car salesman is the most exploited worker in the American work force. You get blamed for every failure anyone including the dealership policy. You get yelled at by customers ,service, managers general managers. No one respects or backs you up. You look at the contract situation and see stupid people (and that very well may be in some cases) but I find fault with those who write up these loans that are sometimes difficult to understand because of the language used and are hard to navigate the fine print. I dont want to make money at another persons expense.

About saving money...
I can see what you're saying when it comes to a $40,000 car. You don't have to spend that much. I don't know anyone who has.
But other than expensive items and luxury items that should be bought sparingly, it's difficult to save when you can't pay the rent. It's difficult to save when MINIMUM wage should be starting at $11 today when you factor in the cost of living.
If you yourself today go out and start a business in the United States today and want to be nice and give people jobs you will learn very fast that you have to pay more then a very HIGH WAGE but also provide insurance and the paperwork is more time then you have and it coast more money then what you can sale per hour. So we as poor business owners are being forced to close our business or outsorce our jobs to a cheaper wage country.

I got my house paid off before this so called "bailout" and am so relieved. Paid additional principal every month working 7 days a week up to 16 yours a day for 10 years. Almost killed me. Affected my health where I am seeing doctors. I took the equity and ran off with it (out of California) and bought a house in Oregon. The whole time these bankers kept financing unqualified people for home loans, 2nd loans, etc...No way out. I am one of the few that got out of it. Wish to hear more successes

I think the next step in the plan is to drive us to complete economic collapse. Then, when we are homeless, hungry and prices are so inflated that we cannot even buy bread, the government will begin food rationing programs as long as we accept an RFID tag. I was here. I live right on this street. The only problem was they were mostly socialists & they are probably fine w/ obama doing all these baker bailouts now. there were quite a few of us there who are against the federal reserve (goldman sachs annex) & realize this problem wasn't created by capitalism, capitalism would have let the bad bankers and AIG go bankrupt...not tax us or loan $ in our name to give to them. capitalism? this is fascism...biz is in bed w/ gov't.

Working class people here who went to school here in America like we did and had a history teacher should have been told that history will repeat itself every 20 years.
So If their teacher told them about the great depression, the value of our currency at that time and how it was no longer backed by gold, silver, or copper, like it was when the country was first got started then they would have been able to do the basic math to see that their was a problem.

The fact that we don't have the gold standard anymore is not all of the problem. It's neoliberalism and the fact that while worker wages have stagnated, corporate profits rose exponentially. However Im not a capitalist & while I understand that I should know about the economy that I live with I usually read what Im passionate about (human rights globalization etc)

Tink I sold cars and If you want to talk about exploitation a car salesman is the most exploited worker in the American work force. You get blamed for every failure anyone including the dealership policy. You get yelled at by customers ,service, managers general managers. No one respects or backs you up. It is not at all what you have been told that it is a bunch of schemming people wanting to rip people off/. Spend about 70 hrs a wk at that including weeends and hollidays it suxxxxxxxx

You look at the contract situation and see stupid people (and that very well may be in some cases) but I find fault with those who write up these loans that are sometimes difficult to understand because of the language used and are hard to navigate the fine print. I dont want to make money at another persons expense.

About saving money...
I can see what you're saying when it comes to a $40,000 car. You don't have to spend that much. I don't know anyone who has.
But other than expensive items and luxury items that should be bought sparingly, it's difficult to save when you can't pay the rent. It's difficult to save when MINIMUM wage should be starting at $11 today when you factor in the cost of living.

If you yourself today go out and start a business in the United States today and want to be nice and give people jobs you will learn very fast that you have to pay more then a very HIGH WAGE but also provide insurance and the paperwork is more time then you have and it coast more money then what you can sale per hour. So we as poor business owners are being forced to close our business or outsorce our jobs to a cheaper wage country.
HIGH MINIMUM wages and insurance today is the problem!!!

Well first lets be honest here. People don't really start businesses "to be nice and give people jobs." They do it to make $, plain and simple.
I don't think insurance should be the employer's responsibility. We should have a universal single payer health insurance plan for all Americans.
About "high" minimum wages...people can't live off of that. And lets just say that yeah someone isn't born as smart as you or I. Does that mean they should be homeless? No. They're still human.

I got my house paid off before this so called "bailout" and am so relieved. Paid additional principal every month working 7 days a week up to 16 yours a day for 10 years. Almost killed me. Affected my health where I am seeing doctors. I took the equity and ran off with it (out of California) and bought a house in Oregon. The whole time these bankers kept financing unqualified people for home loans, 2nd loans, etc...No way out. I am one of the few that got out of it. Wish to hear more successes

I almost did that too. However what will you do if they take your home by "imminent domain?" They froze my pension yrs ago and now have stolen over half my 401K, which like a responsible citizen, I had been saving. It's all gone now.

A $700,000,000,000 bailout and the market's still tanking? People are stealing from the cookie jar. The idiots who voted for this plan, democrats and republicans, should be ashamed! Do the math. They could have issued stimulus checks of $7,000 each to 100,000,000 working American citizens. That would spur the market and the economy much better than a lame bailout. I think the next step in the plan is to drive us to complete economic collapse. Then, when we are homeless, hungry and prices are so inflated that we cannot even buy bread, the government will begin food rationing programs as long as we accept an RFID tag. Next they release an avian flu pandemic to thin our ranks. The world is running out of resources and there are too many people. I think this has been planned for some time. They even have FEMA containment camps complete with coffins ready.

Its funny how us average folks been in the crisis for yrs and just now wall street is feeling the pinch and are the first to get help from the gov. its like we've been punk'd or more like owned. good thing those wealthy few are not going through the crisis as we have for yrs, but hopefully soon after the wealth trickles down we will have enough to pay for the bailout,war,education,health,gas food and other things average folks struggle to afford.

How do we insure the banks given money will loan it out at reasonable rates and insure liquidity in the financial markets? This is not provided in th bail-out bill or by the billions already provided to the banks.
