  • It's not medically necessary and I will never circumcise my sons. If they choose to have i done later in life fine. But my boys were born PERFECT. If you do it for religious reasons or because you feel it should be done. fine but, don't dis people who choose not to. There is no MEDICAL reason. There are religious and personal preferences to it. NONE ARE medial though.

  • @hiImDay Religious and "personal preferences" should be left entirely up to the only one it matters, the person whose body is in question.

  • I could have done without watching this......

  • Comment removed

  • An excellent and informative video-how could any parent consent to circumcision after watching this?

  • Unfortunately, you're all WRONG: Check out both the pending CDC recommendations, the recommendation by the Pediatric Doctor's Assn (finally, some commonsense)...and another by midwives.

  • @HyperHowie THe whole, healthy, natural human body, especially the genital organs (organs of reproduction) are not wrong. Genital cutting of children is wrong on every level.

  • @HyperHowie midwives will NEVER recommend routine infant circumcision. It completely goes against their model of care to even PERFORM the procedure. "Pending"...sorry my friend, evaluation of their stance, over a year ago, has still not resulted in this recommendation you speak of. What really are you so afraid of, that our pristine *sarcasm* aids rates will sky rocket? They are already sky high WITH our nation's high circumcision rate. Routine infant circumcision is wrong, end of story.

  • @HyperHowie The CDC's recommendation has been pending for a long time - suggesting there's a lot of internal disagreement - and until it stops pending, we don't know what it is. Likewise the American Academy of Pediatrics, if that's what you mean. In 2010 they wanted to allow token ritual cutting of girls "much less extensive than neonatal male genital cutting" but had to backtrack. They are only human - especially on this topic.

  • @HyperHowie "Whatever the content[CDC recomendations on male circumcision] may include, CDC’s final circumcision recommendations will be completely voluntary. While CDC has NOT YET determined if male circumcision should be recommended for ANY population, ultimately the decision will rest with individuals and parents. CDC’s public health imperative is to provide the best possible information on the risks and benefits to help inform those decisions" Status of CDC Male Circumcision Recomendations

  • @HyperHowie "The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) believes that circumcision has potential medical benefits & advantages, as well as risks. The existing scientific evidence is NOT sufficient to recommend routine circumcision. Therefore, because the procedure is NOT essential to a child’s current well-being, we recommend that the decision to circumcise is one best made by parents in consultation with their pediatrician" AAP Where We Stand:Circumcision 12/21/11

  • My foreskin was removed at the age of 5 due to a "medical reason" to which i do not even know myself, if there is no real medical reason to be circumcised why the fuck did some surgeon mutilate my own penis against my own will?

  • @Cozzi0 Because someone in charge of you, didn't think it looked right... so they got it taken care of.

  • sixth subjects who were circumcised routinely recieved more education/aids prevention counseling services than those who were not circumcised. 7th the WHO is a political organizaion not a medical science organizaion, and the WHO is funded by & subservient to the agendas of the Bilderbergs, the CFR, the Trilateral Commision and the Fabian Society. 8th.The WHO chose to ignore contemporary sub saharan studies that found that circumcision did not reduce the spread of AIDS in Africa.

  • Here are a few simple facts that discredit the WHO studies. First, the subjects who were circmcised had less time and opportunity to have sex than the non circumcises subjects due to the need to heal from the proceedure. This is why stopping the studies early is not good science. Second, the practice of dry sex was not controlled for. Third, the use of sex workers was not controlled for. Fourth the practice of anal sex was not controlled for. Fifth condom use was not controlled for.

  • The more recent WHO studies on the spread of AIDS in sub-saharan Africa were performed because the first round of studies that justified circumcision based upon AIDS transmission reduction fell apart under objective peer review and evidence based medicine. So the pro-circumcision crowd constructed new studies which were very poorly designed, were done by people who have a deep need to justify circumcision and were stopped prematurely while the statistics gave them their desired results.

  • of pro-infant circumcising religions are eliminated or held in check, evidence based medicine is hamstrung. Anyone who wants to be circumcised for religious reasons can do so when they are old enought to make that decision for themselves & NO one is loosing freedom of religion in the process. Ironically the person who is denied religious freedom by infant circumcision for religous reasons is the baby boy being circumcised as he is NOT able to choose to particpate in the ritual of circumcision.

  • These doctors and scientists use these poor africans as subjects in their research in ways that PETA would condemn were they using animal subjects for these experiments. These so called doctors and scientists direct their subjest to spread AIDS thus starting a network of misery, suffering and death of innocent africans these doctors have blood on their hands in the process.

Until ignorance, blind tradition, and the imense political power and influence

  • has to be employed. It used to be everything from masterbation (dimininshing sexual pleasure is the longest held/believed justification that spans centuries), various mental illnesses, to the plague of the particular age.

So now the medical community has had to move to a new fear based justification for circumcision due to fears of AIDS transmission. These doctors's whose first mandate is to first do no harm have ben the direct instrument in and cause of AIDS being spread

  • The general public is ignorant of the history of the so called medical justifications for infant circumcision in the US. The so called medical reasons have changed as this wise doctor points out once the professed medical reasons that generation were led to believe in fall apart in the face of logic, evidence based medicine and truth. In order to avoid admitting the US doctors and medical schools have been torturing baby boys for no legitimate medical reason, a new scare/frear mongering

  • Circumcision should be banned.

  • This practice is unconstitutional! Every man that is born has the unalienable right to life, liberty and happiness! This destroys a man's basic right to happiness. So why in America? Where we are supposedly free from tyranny! The bottom line is this was started by religious fanatics that did not want male or females to feel pleasure.

  • Hyperhowie does not know what he does not know

  • Selamun Aleykum,

Fact is- so called; " muslims" who are are following practices from pre-islamic jahiliyyah ( time of ignorance) and claiming legitimacy for carrying out barbarous actions like Khitan, are not following Islam at all. THERE IS NOT a single ayat in the Quran that orders genital mutilation either male or female.

  • @HyperHowie You're right in a weird way, your foreskin is no longer part of your penis if someone cuts it off.

However for 80% of the world's men their foreskin is very much a part of their penis (the most sensitive part) and they would fight you to make sure it stays that way.

  • @HyperHowie Forced circumcision is going the way of the lobotomy but not fast enough. People looking for validation to surgically mutilate the genitals of their children will find it. Thos who support this form of surgical child abuse will continue this social illness, however people are waking up.

  • @Bonobo3D...OH, get over it. Your daddy wacked your foreskin & now ur an adult crybaby. No one's " mutilating babies," so stop using loaded words.. It's a medical practice n' the WORLD HEALTH ORG has recommended & possibly to be followed by the American Medical Assn, that healthier for the male child: to be circumcized...it reduces the chances of AIDS & cuts the risk of sexual transmitted disease by 50%.

  • There are enough foreskin wackos who post, w/o any medical background, so noone, including even most doctors, are far from an authority. Even they can't decide. However, Keep whining; PARENTS DECIDE (u lose.) And since it's an approved practice of Jews and Muslims, it will continue as protected religious practice. Now go stand in the corner and bang against the walls. That's about as much effect you'll have.

  • @HyperHowie I'm sorry, but the fact that "parents decide" is exactly what makes it so outrageous. It is not their body, and they have no right to make a decision to make an irreversible and unnecessary surgical modification to their child. It is just as outrageous as a parent deciding "I want my child to only have 6 toes so that she can fit into smaller shoes when she grows up."

  • @HyperHowie And I suppose you think people fighting female genital cutting are "fanatics", too.

  • @HyperHowie Did you even watch this video?

  • @HyperHowie Did you listen to a word the man in the video said? Most parents with male children will choose to leave their genitals intact. This is now also true in the USA. It has been the case in most of the rest of the world for quite some time now.

I believe that the mutilation of the genitals of children is a serious subject that requires education and activism. All human rights and animal rights issues deserve our attention.

  • @HyperHowie If that's true, then why does the US have the highest rate of circumcised men as well as the highest incidence of HIV? If only intact men get HIV, then who in America is getting it? That's right, genius, the cut men.

  • @HyperHowie The WHO and CDC are a political organisations that do not deserve your trust. Do they have anything to say about the functions of the foreskin or the ethical implications of RIC? Nope. What do deficient studies performed by circumcised American doctors in Africa have to do with the first world? If circumcision is such a great prophylactic then why does the USA have such high rates of STDs, including HIV?

  • @HyperHowie Even if the studies you allude to were valid, which I don't believe they are, what do they show? That in some parts of Africa there is a reduction in transmissions rates from women to circumcised men during vaginal intercourse. They show no protection for women and no protection for gay men. And they conclude that all men need to wear condoms for maximum protection. So what's the point?

  • @HyperHowie The fact is that you you are circumcised and you had your son/s circumcised because it is part of your culture and you are ignorant. And now you want to believe that it was all for the best, like many in circumcising cultures do. You are trying to justify your state and your decision, just as circumcised females do in other cultures. It's sad and pathetic.

  • @HyperHowie you're confused. there is NO recommendation for routine infant circumcision...anywhere, by any health organization. There is zero proof that fewer infants/minors get aids because of circumcision. What a terrible thing, to deny a person their right to their whole body, under the assumption that they won't know how to wash or use condoms, abstinence, or mutual monogamy.

  • @HyperHowie ya because the foreskin is now not part of the human male anatomy dumb ass :(

  • @anarchyisgreat123: well then suck my foreskin-less cock. So is HAIR...FINGERNAILS...and my MISSING APPENDIX. So is cancer -- and you can keep that. You foreskin fanatics -- get your head out of your dick -- and start paying attention to what really matters. And a long-gone foreskin is nothing to "wha-wha" about! Get over it...and get a life!

  • @HyperHowie your comparisons fail hard.

hair and fingernails grow throughout your lifetime, trimming them is not the same as permanently removing them. If you were to surgically alter them to prevent them from growing on a child, you're god damn right that would be unethical.

as for your appendix and cancer, those are removed from medical necessity. the foreskin is not.

circumcision is elective, non-beneficial, and has permanent consequences.

is it a parent's right to give their child a tattoo?

  • @HyperHowie FUCK YOU

  • @HyperHowie Wow, you really are stupid. It's not a part of the penis? Poor thing, I suppose you're right, since your foreskin was removed. Do some research and find out what the foreskin is. Is your eyelid not an important part of your eye? Wouldn't you think your eye wouldn't function properly without it? How about if all the skin of your penis is removed? Can you imagine how impossible it would be to get an erection then? YOU are the one who needs to grow up.

  • @HyperHowie Right: it's a part of HIS penis. So let HIM decide :)

  • Thanks for the honesty Dr, Snyder. It is so refreshing! You've covered the topic well. There is simply no excuse for this abuse of men.

  • Female genital cutting is understood to be as violence against women. Rightly so. It's disgusting and wrong. Circumcision of boys is no different.

Why is it so hard for people to realize this?

  • @sparkyjunk most don't understand the issue or just don't care. it's unfortunate, but hey, we're in America, what do you expect?

It will die out eventually. Hopefully we can help speed it along to the cold grave it will share with the dozens of other cruel and unnecessary medical procedures we used to preform.

  • Infants are given beforehand vitamin K shots to stop bleeding cuz not made in the body yet. Boys also die even later after the cutting for no apparent reason. Because of the extreme strain on the not fully developed internal organs of the newborn especially the heart some just give up and stop. This would appear to be the case of Jamaal who died earlier this year. Dr. John Taylor describes such an event at cirp org Newsletter October. Better to wait then 2 months = much more than Jewish 8 days.

  • "Do it when he's a kid because it will hurt more if he wants it as an adult" is lame. If the guy wants to get sliced, but is scared of the pain, then clearly, he doesn't want it enough. if a man who was sliced as a baby decides he wants a normal penis, its too late.

  • Circumcision is not a medical procedure when there is no diagnosis of defect or disease, and no record of less-destructive remedies tried before jumping to the drastic last-resort step of amputation.

    HIS body, HIS decision.

  • When erect my shart is stretched to the max, my organ goes out for an inch and then curves downward noticibly, the half toward the base on the underside is always hairy, and I only have sensation on a little ridge on the underside just behind the glans & sometimes bits of dead skin on the glands flakes off. There's irregular dark blotches on shaft, several scar lines? on shaft 3/4- 1in below glans + slight irregular coloring on glans.

  • @lyutsin21 Have you looked into foreskin restoration? It doesn't bring back the original, but it can still be a miracle, especially for men who were cut tight. Check out the TLC Tugger.

  • @lyutsin21 you may wish to report your harm to the Global Survey of Circumcision Harm. Go to circumcision harm dot org

  • Thank you very much for sharing. We are expecting our 2nd child and in it is a boy, I have been educating myself on circumcision pros and cons. How do males clipped or not feel about this? What about infection? My husband is for it, but he is clipped and doesn't know any different.

  • @alirue2610 Make your husband watch this video, then a video of an infant circumcision being performed (search YouTube). Once you see that, neither of you would ever consent to allowing your son's penis to be cut up. Many, many men are outraged over having had this happen to them. Others are dead or have lost their entire penises to "mishaps." Protect your son.

  • @alirue2610 There are no legitimate reasons for circumcision, they are all flimsy excuses. Protect your son's rights. I have almost 100 videos devoted to this issue. Do you homework and you, your husband and son will never regret keeping him whole.

While being circumcised a child's stress hormone rises to alarming levels, still measurably so six months after the traumatic event! This is how we measure and regulate animal abuse, yet this is still done to human children.

  • @alirue2610 You should not have to make a decision because the decision should not exist because circumcision should not exist. You should not weigh the pros and cons because the debate should not exist because its a no-brainer to not perminently harm your son. Get psyched out so you won't think you have to hurt your son in order to avoid feeling guilty! All pros are imaginary. Shame on your husband.

  • @lyutsin21 David Pinckney here. The husband doesn't know any better yet. alirue2610, I'm sorry for this conflict that you're having to deal with. You are in a position to protect your son. Your spouse can probably be persuaded. And even if not, it's not etched in stone that you're the one who won't get your way. So many people have such a cavalier attitude about this. Thank you so much for actually caring.

  • @alirue2610 -- I hate being cut. My sons, should I ever have any later in life, will not be. Talk to those who are NOT cut and they'll tell you they couldn't imagine being without their foreskin.

  • @alirue2610: Don't let these skin facists affect you. Two recent studies have just come out that validates the reason for having circumcision. Anyone that has 100 videos of anything is a "fanatic" without a balanced opinion. Talk to your DOCTOR. You and your husband should make the decision. I had a male friend in his 20s who just made the decision to have it done! I have and it's no big deal.

  • @HyperHowie Some make decisions in their 20's to have various body modifications. That does not legitimize forcing any of them on a baby.

  • @HyperHowie The skin fascists are the once forcing genital surgery on children without consent. (prejudice in relation to the subject specified: body fascism)

  • Why do you say "ROUTINE infant circumcision?" You should be also against non-routine infant circumcision and circumcision of older children and adults. Its unethical to circumcise a consenting willing adult. I got butchered in a Jewish infant penile mutilation ritual. This persists because religion hates sex and sex appeal and masturbation. My family (they are Jewish) get angry and offended when I mention it.

  • @lyutsin21 non-routine implies that it's being done for an actual reason, ie; there was a medical reason for it. As such, not performing a circumcision in such a case would be more the more harmful option. And no, it's not unethical to perform an operation on a consenting adult who requests such an operation, as long as that adult is fully informed. Routine infant circumcision is unethical and should not be preformed, yes, but sometimes (rarely) circumcision is truly medically necessary.

  • @vyyle You can't foll me, I know damn well that you are just fishing around for bs reasons to keep circumcising. Every circumcision in history and every future circumcision is masively WRONG, unethical, evil, severe sexual abuse! You are mentally ill due to your emotional vested interested in sexually abusing and hurting other people. Adult circ is unethical for same reason you don't kill someone and claim they wanted to die.

  • @lyutsin21 I'm not trying to 'foll' anyone. There is nothing ethically or morally wrong with performing a circumcision on an adult who requests the procedure and understands the risks and complications. adult circumcision does not even kind of resemble euthanasia. On an adult, it would be more ethically similar to tattoos or plastic surgery.

I'm against circumcision, I just actually know wtf I'm talking about instead of adopting an outlandish position without understanding the facts.

  • @vyyle Tatoos & all body modifications are bad for you. Plastic surgery might or might not be slightly less bad. Euthanasia & circ are euphemism for hurting/ killing someone & making up casuistry so other people wont be too angry at you. An adult who requests a procedure, including penile mutilation needs to get psyched out & learn its not the case you need to have someone hurt you in order to feel happy. I don't care who understands or concents to what.

  • @lyutsin21 stop trying to compare it to euthanasia, no pleading on your part will make it similar just because you want dramatic effect.

As for tatoos and body modifications, I agree with you. But like circumcision on an adult, if the individual chooses to have them, then you nor I nor anyone has the right to say "you cannot do this." It is the individual's choice, as is the right to make that choice. That children cannot make this decision is why it is unethical to perform it on them.

  • @vyyle Any adult who wants to get things done to his body, like getting tissue cut off his penis, is mentally ill & needs to get thoroughly psychologically examined. Circ is extremely serious, dangerous harm & is is not reversible. Killing a person and claiming they wanted to die is as bad as hurting someone & giving it a nice euphemism like circumcision & claiming its what the person wanted.

  • @lyutsin21 once again, WRONG.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again if you don't stop with the retarded euthanasia comparison - comparing the two DOES NOT work, so stop trying to get away with it

the simple fact is that there is no argument against adult circumcision that works, so long as the adult is fully informed about the procedure. I can't imagine why someone would want to do it, but I respect people's rights to make decisions about their own bodies. You apparently, do not.

  • @vyyle Nope, you can't triumph over me. I don't have to respect any adults decision to get himself circumcised because an adult who wants to get himself mutilated is mentally ill and needs to get psyched out and the mutilator has a serious problem too and needs to be dealt with. Happy, well functioning healthy people want to do fun activities so they know they are having a nice life & they don't desire to get parts of their body cut off or bled or circumcised.

  • @lyutsin21 so basically...you're plugging your ears and going "lalalalala" to reason, huh?

I'm sorry, but you have to have a much better than "I don't agree with them, so they must be mentally ill," or use a bunch of emotionally charged words or comparisons THAT DONT FIT when applied to an adult.

I'm not saying you can't hold your beliefs, only that the reasons for your beliefs are emotional, irrational, and unconvincing.

and I'm not trying to 'triumph' over anyone, just pointing out bullshit.

  • @lyutsin21 and just so you're clear what you just said, you're claiming that it's okay for you to violate someone's fundamental right to body autonomy because of your own personal beliefs.

Just so we're clear, this is despicable, and its THE EXACT SAME ARGUMENT THAT PRO-CIRCUMCISION ADVOCATES USE!

you have no more right to say that a 30 year old man cannot choose to be circumcised than your parents had to force it upon you.

  • @vyyle So by your logic if a concenting adult wants to get his/her legs cut off, someone should eagerly just cut them off, without even gettingthe patient psyched out first? This is serious, until I was 26 thought I had to do orthodox Judaism (in order to avoid feeling guilty) so if I had found out I was intact Imay have goten circed, but then I came out as an atheist & if I had goten myself mutilated I would have been so angry at myself I don't see how I could have lived with my loss.

  • @lyutsin21 Competent, ethical doctors & psychologists care that their patients are in good condition & don't hurt their patients just because thats what the patient thinks he/she wants, otherwise the patient might recover from his/herdepression or mental condition and then be angry at him/her self &/or the doctor for hurting him/her. Cut off body parts don't grow back.

  • @lyutsin21 and your right about ethical doctors caring about their patients...that's why the concept of informed consent EXISTS.

my position once more. read up on the concepts in caps before you throw another batshit crazy example at me.

Circumcision on infants and children is wrong because they cannot give INFORMED CONSENT.

    adults CAN give INFORMED CONSENT.

you cannot interfere with someone else's BODY AUTONOMY because you of your own PERSONAL BELIEFS.

  • @lyutsin21 my apologies, I re-read my above post did not actually use the phrase "informed consent". I work in the medical field, and the different definitions of the word sort of blend together to me based on the context.

Regardless, when I speak of consent in this case, I'm talking pretty much exclusively about informed consent. informed consent means much more than just saying "yeah, go ahead." seriously, read up on it.

  • @lyutsin21 I said INFORMED consent. in short, the patient must be informed the entire procedure, the impacts of the procedure, the possible complications, risks, and side effects of the procedure. They must also be mentally fit to understand all of the above.

there are legitimate non-medical reasons in which a mentally fit person would seek circumcision, but none for amputation. you don't get a vote for the same reason you don't get a vote if your girlfriend gets an abortion without telling you.

  • @lyutsin21 I don't care what happened to you or hypotheticals. If you HAD provided informed consent to be circumcised at 26 because of your religion, and then deconverted, it would be your own damn fault, not your doctor's, and not your rabbi's, and it would be an interference with another man's body autonomy AND religious rights if you prevented him from making the same choice. You could try to talk him out of it, but that's the extent of your right to interfere.

  • @vyyle An adult who wants to get circed needs to see a psychiatrist, take anti-depressants as needed, get psyched out, & ethical doctors should always refuse to do circumcisions. Same reason most doctors don't just cut peoples legs off and then claim its what the patient wanted. Same reason why mental patients are restrained from hurting themselves. If a circ has to be done its best for the patient to cut himself so medical workers are not responsible.

  • @lyutsin21 Again, it is ONLY your personal beliefs that say that circ. on an adult would be considered a mental illness. It is your right to have this belief, and to share it, but not to force it on someone else, as doing so would violate several of their rights.

Doctor's DO evaluate their adult patient's mental status before performing circumcision on them. They DO make sure the patient understand what the procedure would mean. it is NOT the same as amputation of a limb.

  • James Snyder, MD, FACS, has been an outspoken advocate for the rights of infants and children for the past three decades. His contributions to the Genital Integrity Movement have been monumental!

  • @MarilynMilosRN Can you not say "rights of children"? Because Female mutilation became illegal in 1996, so the problem is just MALE sex organ mutilation. If you don't specify MALE, people will assume you mean female, because everybody assumes one sex has to be left alone and another has to be mutilated.

  • @lyutsin21 She said children and she meant children. Girls all over the world also suffer from genital cutting, including right here in the USA. Just last year the AAP asked the US government to relax its ban on female genital cutting.

  • @BarefootIntactivist ok I wasn't in favor of female genital cutting, maybe specify rights of Male children and rights of female children, repeating 2x except male in one phrase, female in the other, male genital cutting and female genital cutting. Consent should not exist because adult circumcision should not exist, no matter whether by choice or forced by a "circumcision-prevents- aids" program in africa.

  • @lyutsin21 Her original statement is fine, there is no reason for reason for the specification that you're requesting except to make it longer, more confusing, and redundant.

There will never be a "forced circumcision prevents aids" program in Africa. Their may be a voluntary one. To prevent the outrage I know you'll feel, I would oppose such programs because they give false and controversial information about the aids-prevention benefit, which prevents truly informed consent.

  • The foreskin is there for a reason. It is NOT the parents right to decide that their baby boy should not have a foreskin. Shame on you if you knew better!

  • Dr. Snyder's views appear very similar to that of KNMG's, representing >40,000 Dutch medical professionals, who declared last year that circumcision has many risks/harms, lacks benefits, and violates the rights of the child. Great interview!

  • What is so hard to understand about this? Stop circumcision!!!!

  • Excellent, rational, critical, ethical thankyou

  • a great video thank you Bonobo3D.

again why can't people grasp this. if its not broken don't brake it. leave a childs genitals alone. the people that do this to babies are rapists and should be in prison. routine circumcision is a violation of medical ethics and the law. even if the parent consents its not the parents body. a parents medical consent for a child only covers life and death and medical necessity. there is no immediate need for circumcision so proxy consent cannot be used.

  • Why is it so hard to grasp? Don't chop up our penises please.
