All '55 Oldses and Pontiacs were better cars, because of the lousy Dual Coupling HydraMatic in '56, a real POS until they got things fixed around mid-'58. A '55 Super 88 could kick a '56's ass, because the old cast iron HydraMatic was so much more efficient. Either of them would anihilate any Chevy, though, even a stick. I've had three '55s...a Super 88 Holiday 4 dr HT, a 98 couple, and...tada...a red '55 Starfire convertible.
If anyone sees this video and has extra trim parts for a 56 2 dr HT im looking for the right side stainless steel trim piece that goes directly behind the passenger side door. These are a great car no doubt!
I had a 1956 88,solid white. It was a good car and the performance, it would blow the door off nearly anything on the road. When I would shower down on her she sounded like a rocket and moved like too.
You do not see many 56 Olds for sale. My dad has been thinking of selling his, but you have to price them high or people think there is something wrong and wont call. Swear to God on that.
I love this comercial, but ol' Pete is starting to worry me, speaking about himself in the third person! "Well, there you are. With you trousers hiked up to your breastbone."
True words, it's a shame the Olds-brand has been terminated. Even though I am a hardcore Buick-fan, I really like the looks of the 50's Olds, and not to forget the later ones from the muscle-era.
No problem getting your hands on a 50's Olds, you just have to keep your money ready. They are very popular here in northern Europe, especially in Sweden.
"Oh, you beautiful dreamboat you."

This is a nice commercial from the mid-'50s! It looks nice to see that it was great for a brand new car in '56 as it has always been announced!
