should we nuke the place or what? i don't think the people would care. they live in hell and have nothing. some people probably can't take it anymore and beg to die. families get together and say "hey....this life sucks ass so On to the next life...let's shout out Death to Kim and be done with it."
This is happening right now; this very moment...not ten years ago; not seventy years ago; not on another planet. Tomorrow morning and the morning after tomorrow, there's going to be a thousand other Kwon Hyoks reporting for duty, committing the same god-awful acts he did. "Following orders?" Please...why that man is sitting there comfortably, fully nourished...and not telling his stories from behind bars serving a life sentence is beyond me.
@crankylifter I respectfully disagree. Kwon Hyok is unfortunately a victim of extreme brainwashing, but happened to have better circumstances than those he abused. Does that excuse what he did? Absolutely not, but I am glad that he came clean and showed his face on camera. He had nothing to gain if he left North Korea and then got caught. Ultimately God will judge him, but I feel that he is genuinely sorry. I really want what is happening in NK to end.
This guy talk about killing somebody like nothing because in north Korea it is nothing. They live in an environment totally different from us. they are not as blessed as us.
this guy has no emotions talking about what he has done...they should send him back to north korea and let him get the same treatment he had given to his fellow north koreans
He was indoctrinated to hate the people he toturted, to disregard them as human beings. We are actually all quite capable of that. If we hate someone enough, our sense of "justice" actually propels us to harm others. Like how we all want kim jong il to burn in hell.
At least 3 million people have died of starvation in North Korea since the early 90's. Hundreds of thousands are in death camps.
It is just like the holocaust but the killing is on a somewhat smaller scale. On the other hand the North Korean people have had miserable lives since birth which the victims of the holocaust did not. It is more of a prolonged torture in North Korea.
.(cont.) On the 'macro' scale, you have a society shrouded in secrecy; a dictatorship and a regime that controls its people through fear, paranoia and violence. Not to mention all the above and entrenched into its history. (Just my opinion). Absolute travesty. The glimmer of hope is that somehow, he has turned around to see the evil for what it is. That just doesn't happen spontaneously, nor overnight. In itself, it is a miracle and a beacon of hope . Cat (uk)
I agree with Poosaypirate. This man was very much a product of the society in which he grew up in; lived in, day in, day out, year in year out. It would be far too simplistic (and naive) to look to the atrocities which he committed and see no further than that. He was doing what was deemed 'acceptable', within his environment. In many respects he was just as much a victim as the people who suffered at his hand.
I know of him, you need to read a seperate interview he gave. he knows what he did is wrong, that's why he changed. BUT, he talks about all the atrocities he commited, so much that he became disensitized to it.. when that happens, there is no hope for that person, but still he changed. it's tragic, the lack of emotion he conveys, but for everything he's done, i'm grateful he came at least this far, that at least.. he doesn't still believe what he did was right
Those people are brought up thinking this is right. They are constantly exposed to propaganda. They think what they are doing to their own people is right. It's not the people in the korean army, it's kim jong il.
A horrific look into the North Korean death camps, absolutely despicable and atrocious that Human beings can do such horrors unto others. Such a sad fate for these people, all for speaking against a tyrant...and paying with their lives.
Look at this stupid fuck, looks proud to be talking about how he tormented and killed those people. Ya dumb dick! Makes me sick looking at people like him!
HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU EWNJOY TORTURING PEOPLE!?!?!? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY??? actually its more that pig Kim Jong il's influence that does this.. FUCK HIM!
once victim is depersonalized, it is easier for the perpetrator to torture them. This is why propaganda and anything which "dehumanizes" people is wrong... Look at the US troops torturing and enjoying it in abu grab... they weren't torturing people but "the enemy" or "terrorists"... not "humans". It's something in the mind which people ought to know about, so that they don't fall victim to it. most Us people agree to torture in guantanamo... although not as extreme as this for sure. no excuse
Hey retard, this is about North Korea, not your pussy views about how much you hate the current president and are willing to make up anything to de-fame the people you disagree with.
I actually agree with 777cc777. The North Korean prison guards probably view the prisoners like Americans view terrorists. We just don't care how our prisoners of war are treated. Many Americans would even take pleasure in torturing Muslims suspected of terrorism. Now, granted, our prisoners are probably real terrorists, while in North Korea, their prisoners are innocent political opponents arrested for sharing their political views. However, the concept is the same.
id like to beleive that had i been put in a similar situation, i would have not enjoyed the torture but he grew up in this system and with these values everyone has a sadistic side-its these type of regimes that bring it out of you.
agree entirely, and that is why in my opinion the most difficult and yet most worthy battle we can win is the internal battle between our lower and higher natures. 'Know thyself' is more necessity than luxury... but who dares look deep within .... ?

1) I don't 'h*te' anyone - the opposite in fact
2) I didn't mention any president
3) I didn't make anything up. There was Torture in Abu-Graib by US forces; convictions, photographs, confessions, & national apology testify.
4) I didn't mention disagreeing with anyone.
5) I was answering the question put by Dohey -'how can you enjoy...'
6) I'm writing this in order to reaffrim the validity of my original point, & show that reason reigns over blind anger every time.
Thanks :)

Pnoozi, you are a complete fool. An idiot.
The suspect terrorists which america hold captive are "probably" real terrorists? The prisoners in North Korea are all innocent?
This is why most of the sain world fcuking hate americans.
Firstly, educate yourself...
Secondly, educate yourself some more...
Then investigate gitmo bay and learn to understand the policies which the bush administration had with "suspect terrorists".
Your prisons hold more innocents than "real terrorists",
