Gordon and David Glasser, the original title, "The Devil And Daniel Webster. this $30M movie was forced into bankruptcy when the bank that was financing the movie became insolvent. Alec Baldwin, who directed the film, walked away from the project and took his name off the film.

@haleyteddy03 I don't know, I kinda liked that. It leaves something to the viewer's imagination. What is their history? How long have they been battling? It leaves a bit of mystery.

@happyface784 Yes, Anthony Hopkins cuts her tail off, but you don't see it. You don't know anything about their story, which is one of the things I don't like about this movie.

He gets fired from his job and accidentally kills somebody, so then comes Jennifer Love Hewitt telling him she'll fix everything and make his dream of becoming a writer a reality. The deal is for seven years I think it was, maybe ten, I don't remember. So then he becomes successful and rich and in the process turns into a jerk (continued)

My other comment about this is they should've shown more on her and Anthony's story. Like they should've started the movie out with him being young and cutting her tail off. As well as, he shouldn't have gotten his soul back. He got his wish. It's only fair to pay for it.

This movie is a cute idea, but they did it kinda stupid. First off, they should've gotten somebody other than Alec Baldwin. He's just creepy playing the nice guy side. Jake Gyllenhaal would've done both parts well. And Jennifer should've dressed sexy in it like Liz Hurley on Bedazzled. Like the scene on the beach she should've been in a hot bikini instead of some weird Indian outfit.

Since when did the devil became a female? I would love to see Satan tempting a happily married wife and that night, wife have sex with the husband. Starting the next day, their life spirals downward from there with all the bad fortunate unimaginable...that can be a funny romantic comedy movie to see.

Jennifer Love Hewitt fans would like to be able to see the WHOLE movie.Could be "fair use." It was shown only on a few minor theater screens about a year ago. It has NEVER been released on DVD here in the States. Yes,the re-cut of what would have been a "Devil and Daniel Webster" remake may suck, but it's one of the "lost" treasures of Jennifer Love Hewitt's accomplishments. At that time,she was 22 years old (2001.) She even skipped the Golden Globes for this film!

I'll admit it is a story, but it is ALSO a remake of a very well known story. And whether it is a remake will not take away or give anything to the quality of the idea. Anybody can see a movie, and anybody can have an opinion, that's the beauty of it. I just don't think this one is for me.

@xxtragicclvexx EXACTLY! Its very ignorant to talk like the 1941 movie was in any way the original. Its based on a short story by S V Benet, which was based on a story by Irving called 'The Devil and Tom Walker" which was based on the German novel "Faust" and countless fables about deals made with the devil going back to oral storytelling. Saying that this needs to be compared to the old film is like saying that the old film needs to be compared to "Faust". I think this was a great film.

I don't know, people, I think I'm definitely gonna skip this sham of a remake. The only person I would want to see would be Anthony Hopkins, even though I like Hewitt, but she's not scoring any points with me for this turkey! I gotta agree with damie and dark, I saw the '41 film, and loved it. Now, IF we were talking about Sir Ian being in the movie as the devil, and IF he WERE in the movie, THEN I would go see it. THEN the devil would be entertaining! I gotta go with damie on this!!
