@MsLurkerwolfens -- The kid is Freds eight year old youngest son whom was accidently turned into a grownup, while his Uncle was accidently turned into a fly. Many of the episodes dealt with Fred trying to get them back to normal. Eventually the kid was turned back into a kid, but Harry never was. Fred in the TV series was suppose to be like Doc Brown. Zany, a little nuts, but good hearted, loving, and familylike to his family. The show displayed how they live to together in a mansion/wacky lab.

The plot of the game never would have translated into a TV series as-is. They made some concessions for the show, but it got a lot of critical and commercial acclaim. I'm going to assume that you never watched it.

The show ran for three or four seasons, and was generally very faithful to the source material. Of course, it sounds like you're just hurt that the show didn't replicate the games 100% percent. It was never supposed to.

@MsLurkerwolfens -- The TV show was only loosely based on the game. It was about a Scientist named Fred whom ran a mansion, and a science laboratory from his basement. He lived with his life, three kids, and sister and his sister's husband (Harry). The eight year old, and Harry were messing around in the lab in one of the episodes, when the testing chamber closed while a fly was in it. The kid was turned into a full grown man (ie what Harry was), an Harry was mutated into a fly with a head.

Well, there is an link... if somewhat stretched to the video game by Lucasfilm... something about this guy being like a relative of the star in the Maniac Mansion game... but that's about it. Something about him inheriting the mansion that Fred... I think... only played the game once... had that adventure in... or something along those lines.

Ok, when i think of maniac mansion i think of Dave and his friends, the blue-skinned edisons (with dr. Fred the mad scientist, nurse Edna, Weird Ed, dead cousin ted the mummy), green and purple tentacles, a slimy purple meteor, a hamster in a microwave....

If any of that would be in the show like in the game, then it would've been awesome!

Yeah, I think that someone botched hard when they made the Eidson's in the game blue, especially given that they're not in the DOTT sequel.

But i guess they gave them the blue skin color to make them look more creepy and all that. Also, in the first game they were posessed by the meteor wich they aren't in DOTT.

Actually, only Dr. Fred was possessed by the meteor, Edna and Ed weren't, but you are right, that blue skin makes them creepy, and weird looking.

I agree with the episodes of Maniac Mansion coming out on DVD, my all time favorite episode is when Fred made Harry the Fly grow for Idela and they did some catching up to now that was a great episode, oh yeah Ike got Turner to pretend to be an adult so, Ike can see a scary movie about spiders...lol.

No I didn't, I knew that he was on that show Hercules: The Legendary Journeys for a while, I always wondered how he did that childish voice when he did his character Turner, there's one episode I'll never forget Turner locked Tina and Ike in that containment unit with a code and Joe Flaherty tried to wake him up with a trumpet...god was it ever funny, the code was the number 634-5789...lol

They were great to work with! I loved every minute of it. Infact I have one of them on my facebook friend's list (Avi Phillips) It'd be cool if there was a reunion show but I highly doubt that will ever happen. It should though darnit! :)
