@TheFoxOfDeath1 there are two kinds of C-130s. The AC-130 is a C-130 with large guns mounted on its body. The C-130 is built to carry large amounts of cargo or crew for mainly transportation purposes. The one u saw here was a C-130

@NOZblast2 there's loads of different C-130's the AC-130 being one of them. AC-130's are just regular C-130s modified for gunfire support and you also get the KC-130 which is a tanker variant and models of C-130 exist from A-J, and recently there are also -30 models which are lengthened. an AC-130 can be a variation of any C-130 modified to specifications that brefit the "AC" title and to confuse you further there are also MC-130 and HC-130 which standard C-130s modified for special purposes.

It is both the "mother" one is a slang term, and the "air blast" one is more technical.

@zacwithaguitar No, MOAB (Massive Ordnance Air Burst) was a backronym given to the bomb. They came up with that the (Massive Ordnance Air Burst) name for it because they wanted to call it the MOAB, which also could stand for Mother Of All Bombs.

There's plenty of backronyms in military technology.

I'll bet that several of those could certainly devistate some poppy fields in Afghanistan? Maybe an even large version called the Poppy Cutter? I wonder why they haven't used them on those poppy fields, since they are saying that the Taliban is funded by the opium and heroin trade? In fact, I wonder why they haven't done much of anything to ensure that they eradicate the poppy fields? With technology that can find a gnat on a blade of grass and they can't figure out how to kill plants?

They can read a return address on an envelope if they wish, if the satellites are tasked right, but they cannot find all of the poppy fields and eliminate them? Also, why is it that the poppy harvest increased following the U.S. led invasion of Afghanistan, after the Taliban had reduced it to an estimated 204 short tons in 2001? It jumped to bumper crop harvests. You don't think that the U.S. and the CIA are interested in running opium and heroin, do you?

what you have to understand is it is not the taliban that grow the crop. they just force farmer to groww it. so instead of totally ruining their lives we are trying to get the farmers to come to our side with school wells whatever they need in exchange that they change the crops. oh and the talban pay the farmers their share then we destroy the product. win win.

It may be more accurate to state that the CIA has a major interest in the heroin and opium trade and that would be a motive for our invasion, following the Taliban's reduction of the harvest to record lows not seen in that nation since the CIA helped the Afghans establish the poppy harvest during the Soviet-Afghan War. John Stockwell, a former CIA Station Chief, said that the CIA would run arms in and drugs out, during that war. Why would it have changed?

you may be right I was there last year. We were never allowed to destroy the poppy or cannibis fields. What we did was offer them projects like roads schools wells etc. It worked we protected the village and they changed crops. This is just my small picture.

You know what? Your "small" picture is a part of a greater picture collage. I've seen the pictures of soldiers and marines with their jeeps in the poppy fields. Standing right in them. Do you recall the MH-47 crash that had DEA agents on board? Very suspect. It sounds to me that there are internal divisions amongst the American military and agencies; an internal poppy war, within the poppy war.

why take out the poppy fields? who are we to say that the afgans cant grow what they want, we have no right to take away their only source of income. Poppy fields are good business. i do not see anything wrong with opium, arabs love it and the more arabs that use that shit, the less they will be willing to fight. cause theyll be so high and loving everyone, i say we should force all arabs to use opium at least once a day, then perhaps we will have peace in the middle east :)
