Yea, was definitely one of the most balanced of Jedi. But Luke did a good job following in his footsteps, Corran Horn was also very similar. He wasn't the only one with that level of balance, but definitely one of the few. Truly a mold for the ideal jedi.

I'm sorry but I have to dissagree compleately. Obi-Wan has gone through so much more in his time then Luke. While Luke was basically thrusted into the life of a Jedi by a prophecy, Obi-Wan had to work hard to becomeing who he is.
Not only did he have to face not being a Padawan to a Jedi Knight as no one wanted to take him at first; even Qui Gon wasnt going to make him his Padawan at first, but he had to face the challenge & betrayal of leaving the Temple to fight in the Melida/Daan war...
... It was there where he witnessed death & tragedy at a young age of only 13. As a result of fighting in this war Obi-Wan helped save Melida/Daan while also loosing a good friend in the prossess.
He had to go through difficult tasks while trying to become the Jedi Knight he longed to be after the councel agreed to let him back.
Everything Luke is not, Obi-Wan always was. He is the true hero in this story. One who will be in the hearts of all who appriciate him; Who will never forget him.

3:40 the way he looks at Anakin you can see the almost fear in his eyes knowing his best friend and Padawan has shown such anger right in front of him proving that he really has turned to the dark side.

Anakin lost it when he sommersaulted backwards at Obi-Wan. Although you have to admit Obi-Wan was doing an "open" stance before Anakin started to attack him.
lol you gotta remember these are jedi i dont think martial arts or fencing can be compared to them.. i mean a totally open looking stance could mean a really tight defense for them, they are super beings and have extremely quick reflexes.. thats how they are depicted in the movie, so being open probably doesnt make much difference.

You're right, that's why I think Darth Maul is so underrated. Darth Maul was toying with Obi-Wan WHILE Qui-Gonn was also fighting him at the same time. Darth Maul had an enraged Obi-Wan hanging 10 feet below him and instead of finishing him off Maul got arrogant. I think if Maul had finished Obi-Wan off Maul would've been the Sith' apprentice a long time. Darth Maul is the single most fucked character in the whole series.

Has anyone thought how much more different this would have all turned out if Obi-wan fought Maul with the same skills he fought Anakin with? Qui-Gon would be alive, and perhaps Anakin would have turned out better.
To be honest, I don't think Qui Gon would have made a difference. Obi Wan was a relatively small factor in Anakin turning, mostly it was because of Padme, his mother dying, and so forth. Qui Gon wouldn't have done anything different to Obi Wan in my opinion, in fact I feel Obi Wan was a better mentor, as Qui Gon seemed to constantly disregard the councils rules, as discussed in Episode 1
well.. you have a point.. but i dont really agree with you.. because im pretty sure if Qui Gon was alive.. he wouldve also felt Anakin's anger just like he did when he said that there's something special about him (when Anikan was younger).. and he couldve disagreed with the council about Anakin not being a master and Anakin couldve felt more supported not by a sith, but by a regular good jedi

Your question ShroudedFury; It's because of their different lightsaber style. Dooku use Mikashii, the lighsaber vs lightsaber style, a very elegant, fast and accurate style + he has more power and Force knowledge.
Obi Wan use in film II and III the Soresu style, the defence style. If Obi Wan just keep's his head cool, he's able to diffend himself from everything. He can protect himself from 20 blastershots pr. second + a lightsaber.

Has anyone thought how much more different this would have all turned out if Obi-wan fought Maul with the same skills he fought Anakin with? Qui-Gon would be alive, and perhaps Anakin would have turned out better.

To be honest, I don't think Qui Gon would have made a difference. Obi Wan was a relatively small factor in Anakin turning, mostly it was because of Padme, his mother dying, and so forth. Qui Gon wouldn't have done anything different to Obi Wan in my opinion, in fact I feel Obi Wan was a better mentor, as Qui Gon seemed to constantly disregard the councils rules, as discussed in Episode 1

well.. you have a point.. but i dont really agree with you.. because im pretty sure if Qui Gon was alive.. he wouldve also felt Anakin's anger just like he did when he said that there's something special about him (when Anikan was younger).. and he couldve disagreed with the council about Anakin not being a master and Anakin couldve felt more supported not by a sith, but by a regular good jedi
but you do have a point.. so dont get me wrong..

OBI-wan is the best jedi there is you can see tht OBI-wan has anger only when he is really pissed off like against darth maul and anakin but he can control his anger and doesnt stick up palpatines ass which makes him better and wiser

Your question ShroudedFury; It's because of their different lightsaber style. Dooku use Mikashii, the lighsaber vs lightsaber style, a very elegant, fast and accurate style + he has more power and Force knowledge.
Obi Wan use in film II and III the Soresu style, the defence style. If Obi Wan just keep's his head cool, he's able to diffend himself from everything. He can protect himself from 20 blastershots pr. second + a lightsaber.
(And you have to remember, Dooku is VERY sligh)
