Edward, lovely clear lyric bass-baritone voice. Unfortunately your accompanist did not help you by setting a tempo that was a smidge too fast for your energy level. The melismas need to be dead on and crystal clear, and this was made impossible - from my perspective - because you felt forced to maintain a tempo that was too fast. I suspect that this would have been brilliant at a more reasonable pace. Still, you have a lovely voice and are an intelligent singer. Best wishes.
I agree, even some Bach could help....his larynx is really ready, he should really put more focuse into his arpeggiature, and his vibrato is a bit out of control...
That pianist is amazing. Mine had to skip notes in all the runs to be able to keep up. The singer has a nice voice and good technique, but I feel it is incomplete without the low E and yeah, it is a little fast for him.
nope, he never hit it once. "...and languish in despair." is where the low E is. He did sing the F at 1:15 but he never sang an E in the whole piece. It's not such a big deal though.
I agree that he sounds more like a baritone and wow what a pianist!

Actually this is no longer considered to be by Purcell. Its probably by his student John Weldon...

Hold off on the coloratura until you can actually sustain the runs... the sotto voce sounds rediculous!

i suggest a little bit more air, and more of a smile shape on the low notes.

his timbre is screaming baritone...he should get away from the bass rep and get into some mozart baritone rep...

Do you not hear him hitting the low E several times?
