Lennon was certainly a highly intelligent and original individual. But so's the Devil. I mean, the guy was a bit of a piss head, and before you murder me, just listen! A couple of nuns were walking from church one day and they came across an effigy of Jesus on the cross all messed up hanging from his balcony. While they were standing there in shock Lennon comes out and starts screeching profanities and laughing at them, and then he pisses on them. Does that sound like sanity? The guy needed help

27 years later, and i still can't believe that this genious is gone. :( just to note, i bought the "Double Fantasy" lp in the afternoon of December 8, 1980...of all the music i have got, and i've got ALOT...i believe this has been the most played album...love it just as much today as i did in '80....and still as sad now as i was 27 years ago.

paul mcartney is the most succesful songwriter yes but commercially but very shallow in its structure and only good for average person. john is different his songs are deep - it is so philosophical and interllectual in content.he belongs to the academe and intellegent people.hence,his songs no matter how classic still relevant in the past ,present and future that makes john song very very immortal. we love u john from philosophy and religion dept. philippine chritian university

I completely disagree. Paul and John are equals. Alright, I'll give a slight edge to John, but those are the 1 and 2 best musicians of all time. If you think "For No One" is lyrically shallow, get the hell out of here. Paul could write with the best of them, and John wouldn't have been so competitive with him if he didn't see him as an equal, nor would he have ever been "a jealous guy" (remember, he even said he preferred Paul's songs on Revolver to his own).

It is an underrated album but it's production is poor. This is mainly down to Phil Spector who is the most overrated producer ever. Way too many layers on that album. On the other hand Imagine ( album ) was produced well. If you listen to take 9 of Steel and Glass you will get what I mean about the production. The latter is a quality version while the album version is just ruined by the horns and strings and on top of that Lennon's voice is drowned out. All based on a personal opinion though.
