These alternative reinforcements sound fantastic. Could you comment on cost and availability ? From the video I assume that they are not significant issues.

Regarding external covering, there were discussions on the MDI forum several years ago about using glazed tiles. They should last for a long time, as they are not carbon-based, degraded by sunlight. A technique for overlapping tiles (shingles) could be developed, resembling reptile skin. Mass production of standard tiles is required.
