dnt wanna sound thick but they are like very famous act/actress and are they all from ireland =-O if they are then woooow so pround 2 have irish blood in my vains may just come and live were my past familys roots lay =-D x
Ow, I love Liam Neeson's part and especially his wink to the camera. This is really a great video from the famous stars born from Ireland. Thanks for sharing it. :-)
Well, that's about personal taste. Everyone's is different. The same with this - it may not be something you're into personally but that doesn't mean there's no value to it for a lot of people. If you'd like the names of the funded artists, it's on the Imagine Ireland site. I've never been good at maths but looks like hundreds to me!
WHO is? I'd like the names of a few of these 'funded' artists. Julie Feeney? Holy Jasus. Someone should pay her to move abroad-THAT would have my full support. Is Gabriel Byrne receiving any recompense as our 'Arts Ambassador'?Who's idea was this, anyway?
@howroarke They're funding hundreds of Irish artists to bring their work abroad, plus new commissions. There's emerging musicians like James Vincent McMorrow to well known people like Julie Feeney as part of Imagine Ireland, and theatre companies and writers and visual artists and film makers. Lots of them wouldn't have the opportunity otherwise, especially artists just starting to get their work out there. Far from cobblers.
@howroarke what they're doing is gaining the attention of the general population who might otherwise not have had any interest in Irish art or culture thereby resulting in a huge boost in not only tourism but appreciation for Irish culture. Allowing for young artists to have the possibility of showing the world what they can do and only because of Imagine Ireland's so called 'pointless nonsense' as you say, can and has been achieved on a global scale. So thank them because they are truly helping
Thanks to everyone - we're delighted that you enjoy our video! Many people have asked what the selections are. Here is the list: Spring Love by Francis Ledwidge (read by Aidan Quinn) | Aedh Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven by William Butler Yeats (read by Ellen Barkin) | The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde (read by Stockard Channing) | Worstward Ho by Samuel Beckett (read by Liam Neeson) | The Lake Isle of Innisfree by William Butler Yeats (read by Gabriel Byrne).

i'm also involved in the Arts in Ireland, and this kind of pointless nonsense helps us not one jot.
