  • wow!

  • Imagine - this great woman was dying and singing with a collapsed lung when she recorded this- she genuinely is breathless yet she never sacrifices expression and she is Verdi's Violetta.

  • SUBLIME!!!!

  • How come three people disliked this? What's wrong with them?

  • Ever since 7 years ago,the first time I listened to this recording, this has always been my favourite recording of this aria.

  • I know another great Verdi singer. Her name is Aprile Millo and her parisians admirers think of her often. Bless you.

  • I wish there were singers this good in 2010

  • Preciosa voz, interpretacion musicalmente perfecta, es una bella experiencia que agradezco a "A7sogno". Dramáticamente prefiero la interpretación de Magda Olivero en la década de los 50.

  • Beautiful interpretation and beautiful video too! Many, many thanks.

  • LA GRANDE MUZIO !

    UNICA!

PERFECT and INTERESTING and SPECIAL TIMBRE!

  • Wonderful, simply wonderful.

  • Excellent performance by Muzio and beautiful choice of images by the uploader. Many thanks.

  • Wonderfully sensitive, convincing and beautiful.

  • I like her voice.

  • Divina!!!!

  • This greatest of greats was once the girl friend of Onasis. Yes,the same Onasis that was long associated with Callas.

  • STUPENDA!!!

  • Wonderful voice and so modern!

  • Thanks A7sogno. I heard it again and again and it is just marvelous extraordinery performance.

  • this actually brought tears to my eyes. thank you for posting!!

  • Veramente bellissima questa versione della Muzio! Grazie mille-thanks!!

    Davide

  • I'm not ashamed to cry. The tears instead of praises.

  • Truly amazing! She shows how a perfect diction is part of the art of singing. The beautifully enunciated consonants add to the music in my opinion. Brava Muzio!!!!

  • Bravissima!

Humble greetings alla Millo. We love you, Madam!

  • Brava Claudia!!! Exquisite!

  • Brava Claudia!

  • The recording of the century

  • This a remarkable recording...the sound quality is outstanding given the date. This is a real gem! Muzio sang with such dramatic intensity...truly great!

  • Très bon enregistrement. Quelle finesse dans le rendu ! Etonnant ! La voix, souple et fruitée exprime toute la sensibilité du rôle. Claudia, reviens !

  • The Divine Muzio was to die shortly after this recording was made, in 1936 when she was only 47. Her recordings from 1911 on are generally excellent, but none surpass this rendition of Violetta's aria in the profound sentiment in her voice. Perhaps she already knew she was soon to die. No one can tell. This is truly a gem in the history of recorded sound. She was in a class by herself.

  • A true 'spell'...-

And great Muzio ! (Garbo included).

  • Spectacular!

  • I can not get enough of this!!! I listen to it at least once a day!!!

  • So do I. Alguso

  • I must confess I do too! With the other being the Ombra di Nube. She fills my soul.

  • Probably one of the greatest ever to have lived. Sheer beauty and passion. I have been an admirer for many years. I have an extensive amount of her recordings. I have to fully agree with you Andante 735.

Maria Callas studied Muzio, but i dont think she even comes close.

  • fordy42, is it at all possible for you to post a few of the recordings that you have of Claudia Muzio!! She is my most favourite singer in the world! But I say that on the basis of the 3 videos on YOUTUBE!! I would dye to here more of her!! If you could post a few recordings then I would be so so so grateful!!

    Marta

  • Dear Madam,

I am very mooved to meet you on the net. I have a boundless admiration for you.Thank you for giving us so much Beauty. I love you!

In your honor I am listening to Muzio in "Sorgi o Padre" from Bellini's BIANCA E FALIERO.

As a frenchman, may I dare to give you a virtual handkiss?

    Fabrice,PARIS.

  • Vous 'etes tr'es gentile! This posting has no accent ague! Thank you so very much. Isn't Muzio an amazing artist? You are very young God bless you, tell everyone about her, it deepens your own joy and keeps the REAL traditions alive. With every warmest wish and thanks.

  • Thank you so much for this recording!! I absolutly love it !! This is how this should be performed!! Am I being much to optimistic to hope that there is a recording of the whole opera!! I never thought that I could say this but actually this is better than callas!!! Thank you once again!!

    Maria

  • an overwhelming account of this legendary scene. considered here in Italy as the Duse of the opera stage, her efforts are always sincere and informed. I am rendered incapable of more. Brava Claudia Divina.

  • qui peut faire mieux?

  • Walk into any music conservatory, and they won't know Muzio, but they'll sure as hell know who Andrea Bocelli is. Enough said. Muzio was the predecessor of other great artists like Callas and Tebaldi. No one since can match the sheer emotional expression and genius musicality of this voice. Anyone who proposes to know anything about great singing should be ashamed not to know her.

  • it is an indictment on the guardians of voice today that do not INSIST on a proper grounding, and exposure to the truly great voices and traditions of the past to those lucky enough to be servants of the art today. She is "required reading" for anyone who fancy's someday being a great artist. Bravo, Andante. Well said.

  • Che peccato! What a shame this absolutely superb Italian soprano is virtually forgotten in this country. Her voice and timbre were beautiful and she conveyed such genuine feeling and emotion. She was truly unique.A7sogno,if you have her 1935 recording of 'Poveri fiori',please post it if possible. It is just wonderful.Grazie mille signore for posting this great piece here. Brava Muzio, che bella voce!

  • This is why Youtube is so important to classical music lovers, especially opera.

This is the type of expression that has to be exposed to more and more young listeners content with "just notes". She is remembered here among us now, and here for all to enjoy once again, it is a start, yes? Brava, indeed per sempre.

  • Dear CraigFrancisSoto: Poveri Fiori is the track 13 in EMI - Great Recordings of the Century - CLAUDIA MUZIO - Opera Arias and Songs.

In the same CD you will find Addio del Passato and othears perfect pearls.

  • A dream of emotion and vocal perfection that her heart desease at that time doesn't affect in any way.

  • such beauty, thanks!

  • This is probably the most famous recording of "Addio del passato" ever made. It is a classic on par with McCormack's "Il mio tesoro" and Ponselle's "D'amor sull'ali rosee." Muzio was, in fact, ill in 1935 when her final recordings were done. For a totally different but equally beautiful version of the aria, I recommend Galli-Curci's performance.

  • Yes, this is wonderful! Please post more, if you would.

  • This is timeless. I can listen to this today and feel the great expression that Muzio created in the studio so many decades ago. What 'squillo' she has! One way to be describe this singing is "speaking on pitch". Licia Albanese has this same quality.

Here's the real tragedy: walk into any music conservatory and mention the name Claudia Muzio to the voice majors. The reponse: "Who?"
