  • First of all , I love this instructor's ideas. IMO you should palm strike when first starting the fight striking first because you can hit harder and more accurately with no wrist flexion. After that, follow with straight punches to the face/body because of better reach and is a more natural way to fight. Like it or not you WILL end up using punches in a real fight especially with adrealine going. Anyway good vid.

  • @spoonman73 great comment for sure some time ur instinct will be to make a fist, its happened to me too, but always my initial styke is palm and as much as possible when i train and hit the bag its wioth palms..

  • couldn't agree more. Anyone can verify this by simply letting loose on a good heavy bag without gloves... and a human head is a lot harder than a heavy bag... the harder one hits someone with a fist the more chance of breaking the hand...

I've mildly sprained my wrist a couple of times practicing on my bag... but never on the street...

    Thanks for your vids.

  • @WildGuyVideos awesome cooment that is normanly my prof when people contest it, i actually make them punch the floor or a hard wall, i tell them punch as hard as u can they normally hurt or after the 2 or 3 there in pain then i tell them to palm and enev some time hammer fist to show the effectivness of that stryke also ..thanks for the great comment..

  • Do you think it's still not wise to punch even if you're a trained boxer that knows how to throw punches under pressure?

  • @ShredableGuitar mike tyson a trained heavy weight boxer broke his hand in a brawl..your not under the same state of mindin the street v.s in the ring..

  • I'm fifty and this is truth. no movie bullshit...no theatrical bullshit

  • Ill stick to dragon ball z for my fighting advice

  • bouncers are thugs

  • @whatsgoingon0 i agree some times they r..

  • Very good approach to teaching. Obviously from experience. No bullshit. Straight to the point. Concise. Keep up the good work!

  • @davidreutz thanks..

  • really great vids man!

  • @johnpaulnatividad Thanks

  • IMO, if you throw a punch improperly, you are more than likely to break the knuckles, than to throw a proper punch. I should know... And the palm strike is a good move to use! The fact you don't even hurt your hand doing a palm strike, makes a lot of sense.

  • Around 6 years ago during X-mas time a guy came into my job to rob me, he demanded money but nothing was kept there. He pushed me hard and I flew over a chair, I got up pissed and full of adrenaline & even though I knew better I used a closed fist, I must have connected 10 to 15 super hard shots on his face. Cops got there & he was out cold. 30 minutes later my hand was the size of a basket ball. Till this day my hand is screwed up… Never again.

  • @Cosi214 Thank you for that awesome comment, its not for nothing i teach this, imagine beeing a doorman and having to punch every night out of a fight..palm has more advantages then punching any day..thanks again..

  • Of course he broke his knuckles...he punched wrong.

I prefer the palm over knuckles any day to be frank, but there is a correct way and a wrong way to punching.

  • @Sevv9220 yes there is but under adrenaline, much harder to throw perfect punches..

  • Fuck this guy is good

  • see this is why i like this guy. he doesn't teach how it is supposed to be, he teaches how it IS. im only 16 and i've been in 3 fights. my first fight i got my ass kicked because i THOUGHT it was going to be like UFC. you start, you are looking the whole time, you get punched in the ribs, etc. the guy just came at me and swung for my face and i was swinging all over the place. so i learned, this guy is amazing.

  • @MrJcbe I took a few beatings myself unfortenetly never to pleasend while the fight is finished but one of the best way to learn how to fight and take a punch..UFC is not a street fight, that is where so many people go wrong, there is gereat training involved but u have to use street dirty tactics..

  • one of my favs is the headbutt to the nose. When you know the guy is gonna fight you no matter what you say, just let hiim walk into your strike zone and do the typical thing where he is right up in your face talking shit. Slam your forehead to his nose. It ALWAYS causes the guy to grab his face and stumble back. At which point you leave the situation or you take him down. Ive done this before. Works well.

  • @ThePeter74Peter Yeah, but what if the guy is like, 15 centimeters shorter than you? You can only hit his forehead. That happened to me when I gave my first headbutt D:

I thought that was the only way to shock him enough to don't start a fight, and it actually worked, even if it hurt a bit.

  • Isn't it better to kick. Because your legs are longer than your arms. So you can kick the person from a further distance.

  • @onee for sure u can always kick..when the range permist u..

  • Nah I say boot to the FACE!!! :P

  • Nick, I have studied Karate (goju ryu) 5 years.... and in the really few real fights that I had is just a vague technical remembrance, I think your videos are great.... but over all... I think they are USEFUL in the real world

  • this is said time and time again. just basic punching is sparring tech more than a wise use of your hands in a real street confrantation.i know but i will say it again alot of you know this but alot call it nonsense but its one of the many things that allowed Bruce Lee and Bruce Terril to creat there art. Open hand 5 things off the bat u can do with open hand 1 with closed fist. this man is a very mellow techniqule teach i applaude u for putting these videos on hear he's very good

  • I can eye gauche, I can crush, i can claw, grab his hair...

WOMEN FIGURED THAT OUT AGES AGO HIHHIHIH

  • yup, great video! It takes a year or more of training to learn how to punch. The only advantage of a punch vs. a palm strike is a slightly longer reach. Only a few inches, but that can sometimes be the difference between hitting hard, and hitting only just.

  • @elendiel great comment...

  • What I love about this guy is that he just looks like a normal dude, normal size. He reminds me of someone that works at the liquer store. In reality, he could beat the piss out of you.

  • I dunno'. The example of the broken' fingers was his ring and pinky finger. For one, that means you're punching wrong to begin with. I took boxing when younger, and when I got in a street fight, punches meant the world. You can easily throw a jab, right straight, jump into a Thai clinch, or hell, a simple judo throw afterwords are way more effective. I mean shit, Bas Rutten was once a bouncer, and he'll say straight up to punch them in the face.

  • id rather run...than break my hand!!

  • Jim grover (AKA Kelly Mccann) is great also as he's working with natural gross motor reflex's.

  • that instructor is amazing. very technically smart as well as street smart

  • @frankieboi1 thanks

  • Good point mate.

  • how about an elbow strike, that tends to fuck someone up pretty good

  • I've had no trouble using a closed fist in a street fighting situation. I also find it pretty easy to use the index and middle knuckles. Then again years of boxing/kickboxing helps with that. I suppose for the average joe it's best to use a palm strike.

  • Thnaks for the tpis, m,,, I can now raelly b;lock punccchs withh my foreheed. i"M missinging some barin celelss, but I won my last fihght

    tnahk you ')

Haha, but I saw this in Ong Bak and I thought it would never work until your video reminded me the strength of the skull and the weakness of the fist. Now, Pancrase makes more sense because they don't use gloves.

  • I SIR, USE THE THUMB IN THE FINGER TECHNIQUE, AND USE ALL OF THE OTHER MODES OF "STREET FIGHTING" STATED. WORKING THE AMERICAN PENILE SYSTEM YOU CAN'T GO IN FULL OF "EMOTION", BUT MUST SUSTAIN A CLEAR HEAD, AND NOW THAT I'M ON THE STREETS AGAIN ITS THE SAME WAY!! GOOD VIDEO!!

  • @DARIUSSR612 thanks..

  • In "ufc" you have gloves... Its diffrent! Dumb bitch.

  • @niggajust2comment even in MMA and boxing, they still break thier hands.

  • that a good move

  • Yay, I love realisitc defense instructors!

  • That would break the 'rules' in a UFC "no holds barred" fight.

  • @bustobiwan and what part of that whole damn video makes you think that anyone cares? Was it the part where he repeatedly points out how in the ring punches work because of attitude (and gloves). Good job

  • Yeah, i broke 6 of my knuckles hitting someone in the head. Was my own stupid fault. Lessoned learned the hard way i guess. Thanks for the tips tho.

  • @philhunter2005 Theresss five on each finger???

  • agreed. Good point. open hands leave you more options for after the strike and they can hurt just as much, or more, than a punch.

  • very good point!

  • Thank you...I have learned a lot from working in clubs and that is my source of teaching...

  • @creativecombats

Open hand many see it as a sissy move, its actually the best way to ko/stun a opponent.

The ones that say is for a sissy....the have no clue about martial/defense sports.

  • Good stuff

  • Thank U.. yes it makes sense to me..

    yes....i see..more options..ur rite......

    peace.+.
