  • I bought the exact same T shirt because of that video.

  • @ 00:39 LMAO xD

  • Hi @martyzsongs ! I have a question... So, when i try to improvise a solo, there is nothing coming out of my head... No inspiration at all... What can i do? I try to think on something that makes me happy, or sad, or angry... But it just dont works... I love your guitar lessons! And i hope you will tell me some tips to get some inspiration.

  • 0:46 awkward silence

  • 0:39 the guitar spoke for him XD

  • Marty can you please teach a classic type rock solo kinda like things slash jimmy page Joe perry and Angus young would play thanks

  • damn hes good ..

  • the way marty opened this lesson i wonder why hendrix never wore a shirt with martys face on it hah

  • Dude, I love your videos. You are so down to earth and You make mistakes!! That makes you seem more "human" and easier to relate to. Also you explain everything so its easy to under stand.

I have been playing for 20 years and was in a rut, and your videos helped me get over that hill. You have a great personality and a great vibe about you. Where you are not the most technical, blazing fast player in the world, I find your videos very enjoyable.

    Thanks Marty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Marty's the Fuckin Boss!!

  • do you reccomend a softer pick or a harder pick for these kind of excercises?

  • awesome i heart u man

  • not for yabagena :(

  • Thanks again Marty, your lessons are always so awesome!

  • Love your stuff Marty - how do you get that sound on your amp though? what settings would be ideal for this? thx again!

  • Nice lesson Marty :P

  • @sneakerzzz414 Well I've been playing for a year now and when I first got the guitar I wouldn't want to play it but as I started hearing what cool stuff I can play, maybe 10-9 months ago I started practicing 3 hours every day,and it payed off cause now I can play this stuff from this video.I just reccommend for you to practice all that you know every day and you'll be good.Oh,and maybe try learning the easier pentatonic scales like the e minor or a minor pentatonic scales and power chords

  • @vikonja121 thanks 4 ur advice. well, are u playing acoustic or electric?

  • @sneakerzzz414 I have both, though the first one I got was an acoustic but a few months ago I got an electric one, what about you?

I have to say electric is easier to play, but it's always better to start off with the harder type(acoustic) since the sound is a lot cleaner and when you start playing electric after acoustic it'll be a lot easier and you won't have much problems since you'll try to create a sound that's good as possible since you needed that in acoustic.

  • @vikonja121 nice. u can play both. =)

i'm still trying to learn acoustic first before i do electric. although a lot of people told me that electric is easier than the acoustic.

so how did u learn?did u take lessons or u just did it on your own like learn through tabs or youtube vids?

  • @sneakerzzz414 i learned from tabs book long before the internet.now you tube has LOADS of lessons i wish id had when i was learning, check out justin sandercoe too, great site and all free.a teacher is always the quickest way to learn but thatas expensive, internets the best next option.good luck, stick at it and always look at what youve achieved, not what you cant yet play

  • @strabbs1 thank u soooo much. . .^_^

  • @sneakerzzz414 Yeah that's the thing I forgot to mention,I learned it all on my own,in the beginning I didn't know how to read tabs, but when I learned that I started playing these easy Nirvana songs with power chords and it made the skin on my fingers harden a lot and then I started watching videos, and still when I want to learn a song I always go to ultimate guitar and search for the tab of the song.I also use the Guitar pro program which is great cause you can hear what the tab sounds like.

  • @vikonja121 dude that's awesome. i also search chords and tabs from ulimate guitar. well wat age did u start learning how to play it?

  • @sneakerzzz414 well since now I'm 18 I started at 16,I was almost 17 so I count it like I started at 17 not 16,but the older you get it's harder to learn things since when you're young you kinda learn things fast and as you grow older it's harder to learn new things.

  • @vikonja121 i disagree, actually, if your minds sets at that idea you'll really have difficulties to learn as you get older, but if you rest your mind assured that you WILL be capable to learn just as you want, it will be possible, believe me, theres no sort of excuse except that you are lazier than you were back in the old days

  • @sneakerzzz414 1 year ago i bought an acoustic (Martin DCX bla bla) and approximately 2 months i just surfed around youtube and did some basic excercises which i learned from Justin Sandercoe's website. (His website is more systematic than others)

Then i met Marty here and there, everywhere on youtube :)

After i learned Pentatonic Minor position 1, marty's videos started to make sense and liked his kind of humour, his groovy/funky style (and his hat) :)

  • @ertansaygi yeah i love how marty teaches guitar lessons. .. . he is just so entertaining. ... . ^_^ his videos are like the only ones i watch. . =D

  • @sneakerzzz414 For about half an hour daily excercise (Some days four hours) i can jam with my buddies in most of the keys using pentatonic major, minor and with the ideas i got from Mary/Justin/Andrew Asson (His theory side is great)

I'm 34 years old. when i was a teenager i played drums (didnt take any lesson, got a drum set at home) but i always wanted to be able to play some blues licks on the guitar. I didnt focus on playing songs, i cant play any now :) Improvising is more satisfying.

  • @ertansaygi thnx 4 sharing ur guitar-playing experiences with me. . =) lol . .. i'll try to practice more than an hour a day. . .. thank u

  • @sneakerzzz414 well it's not really about you know picking up the guitar practise for 2 hours, leave the guitar and not play it anymore. What I would do I would play it more times in the day when I'd have free time and was bored for about half an hour, once for 20 minutes, the other time 50 minutes and when you would combine it it would turn out about like 3 hours, even though I wasn't realising it.

  • @sneakerzzz414 And i suggest that you buy an electric also. I bought one about 3 months ago (9 months after i bought acoustic).

I recommend Fender Strat Mexican 70's classic. It's sound is cool for especially blues/funk.

Acoustic and electric ones are basically two different instruments. According to my experience, i suggest that you should have both. (But do finger excercises on acoustic for more strength)

  • @ertansaygi thnx. .. i'll try to convince my parents into buy me one =)

  • @vikonja121 lol. . . i do that, too!! i play like several times a day for just 10 minutes or so. btw, sorry for late reply. . . school is just killing me!! =)

  • @x7Reborn yep, i want this so bad. lol. . . i already have calluses and they're pretty useful coz it doesnt hurt when i play guitar. i wont give up and i will continue to push through so i can get to where i want to be. ^_^ Thanks a lot for the advice dude. . . its the best one that i've received. =) by the way, im a girl ^_^

  • ur crazy good Marty! Rocque on!!!

  • hey Marty, do you have any tips on how to improve on picking ? I somehow got stuck in the beginner~intermediate stage and cant seem to improve

  • :D when you said a blues scale iwas like hmm*pauses video and starts playing omg i just made a tune cuz i meedsed up the scale :D so happy

  • hendrix shirts never go out of style

  • please do a Gary Moore tribute !!!

  • your lessons are priceless.. worth more than guitar hero and rock band.

  • Why pay for lessons when you can get great tips off of youtube?!

  • @dannnn94

Because with lessons in real life you can actually ask your teacher stuff aswell as he can give you several tips and much more.

But if you don't want to pay for lessons then Marty Shwarz is a awesome e-teacher :)

Keep it going marty love your lessons!

  • @dannnn94 because! well actually if you really want to learn fast then go with the lesson but youtube is always a cheaper alternative... for me i havent got enough time for a lesson because of my sched... darn..

  • Another great lesson, Marty. Thanks so much for sharing as much as you do. Y'know, notwithstanding your talent for playing, it was your teaching style that motivated me to buy your Blues DVD set. Good stuff.

  • your the best teacher ever Marty:)i would be very happy if u can teach us Baby Dont Go ...by ac dc...and by the way...im from romania...europe:)....FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK , WE SALUTE YOU...

  • I learn SO MUCH from these little lessons! Thank you from deep down!

  • Marty can you teach Under The Bridge - Red Hot?

  • @JoaoAmaro53 You can find a good lesson of that great song in the Justin Sandercoe´s channel

  • Marty, you should learn Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb Solo. It would be awesome!

  • know this was an advanced lesson, but a bit fast, not used to having to pause your videos to be able to tag along ;)

  • @winokur89 Dude, so what if he is? He's even more awesome then before if thats true.

  • Want chords or tabs of this song? Find them at electric-guitar-guitar dot come if you like playing guitar. Remember this site:

  • hey guys. . .im 14 and i really want to play guitar sooo bad i wanna be good at it. problem is that my parents dnt support me. I dnt take lessons but im trying to learn through chord charts and youtube vids. i kinda find it hard to do it on my own without any interaction with the person teaching me. ive only been doing it for a year but im still not good at it.now i feel like i wanna give it all up. any advice?

  • @sneakerzzz414

Try starting off with some easier tunes (i'm sure you can find a lot on marty's channel) to improve your hand navigation on the fretboard , and no matter what anybody says , you can get good ;).

P.S - try find walk this way on this guy's channel , i was really surprised at how easy it was to play this great song

  • @BlackVeilSoldier thanks for the advice. . .i'm gonna try to start off with the easiest songs i can find =)

  • @sneakerzzz414

Well I might not be the best person to be giving advice seeing as how I've only been playing about a year myself but, you're not making any rookie mistakes like not tuning you're guitar correctly, or holding the guitar in a left handed position when you're right handed? I don't mean to insult you're intelligence or anything just sometime beginners make those mistakes. Also maybe you're playing stuff that's just in all honestly way far out of you're skill level. If the problem

  • @HitokiriBattosai76 that's the exact mistake that i've been doing. i try to take on songs that are not on my skill level. i just realized that now.. . lol. .. thanks for the advice dude. although i dont make stupid mistakes like what you mentioned...hehe..i can still play some songs. maybe i just try so hard to be good at it that i forget to start from the easy ones. ... thank u sooo much. . . =)

  • @sneakerzzz414

I know it's a little late for a response, but anyway It's no problem at all. A good place to start off is power chords, there pretty simple and you can make a lot of different sounds with them. Marty's got all kind of power chord oriented songs on his channel. Check out his tutorial for Basket Case by Green Day, it's a simple song but it's very satisfying to learn.

  • @HitokiriBattosai76 thak u again. . . lol. .. i kinda find power chords a bit difficult but i'll try. i'll just practice, practice and practice!!! =)

  • @sneakerzzz414 It was hard for me to at first, but you're fingers should get used to it eventually. Soon you'll be able to slide some of those power chord positions all up and down the fret board.

  • @HitokiriBattosai76 thanksss. .. =)

  • @sneakerzzz414 No problem.

  • @sneakerzzz414

Well BlackVeilSoldier Just said exactly what I was going to say. Thank for saving me some typing man :)

Anyway you can't start right out of the gate playing Led Zeppelin, play easier stuff like Green Day or Nirvana.
