Does the photo not get its date from the camera time stamp and if the time stamp is wrong ie people might not set it right,month instead of day that would go onto the photo,also how did you get the original photo to read the time stamp of it,is it transmitted with an e mail of the photo?

minilise, I thought the same, that unless you have the original file then analysis is bunk. But I have my own photographs stored on picture hosting sites, so I downloaded one and had a look at the exif metadata (with acdsee), and there is the date and time the file was edited (when I made the file smaller for web storage) but also the date and time of the original. 2 possibilities; one can edit the metadata, also maybe the camera wasn't set to the right date to begin with.

You cannot scan a photo. The photo has to be on the camera or downloaded into your computer from your camera. Then you put it into EXIFTOOL (that is the name of the software). You drag the photo and drop it into exiftool and imediatley that shows you all the data from "brhind the photo" sort to speak. Do you understand now?

I tried the EXIFTOOL, it only showed when it was last modified, not when the original pic was taken. And im sure that they need the original picture to check, and I guess no one axcept the parents have that photo? The one used in this video must have been a photo copied from their website? Im sure its not the original photo? I tried copy the picture and checked it in EXIFTOOL, it did not show the original date, but showed last modified 15.05.2009...

If the photo was never modified, it shows the date you took the picture. Obviously if you modifie it, it show the last date you have altered the picture! That's how we knew the ORIGINAL DATE, beacose it showed it, not when it was last modified. Look under ORIGINAL DATE, not last modified. Anyway, 2 photo experts did that, so I think that they know their job better than us, don't you?
