That is true jazz and ballet are quite close and priouettes. I used to take a jazz/ballet class [30 minutes ballet then 30 minutes of jazz] when I was little [im 13 now] and their pretty close.

the main reason most people don't think that this is jazz is because it is more hip hop based so it doesn't look like jazz. There are no turns or turning/jump combos which is what makes a dance qualify for jazz

Jazzdance has many styles: modernjazz, lyrical jazz, latin jazz, theaterjazz (musicalcomedy), westcoastjazz and hiphop are styles within jazzdance. It's up to the teacher what he/she wants to teach. But the great thing about jazzdance is that you can dance to all these styles. For example: one week you're dancing to broadway music and the next you'll be dancing to African drumms. It's cool! ENJOY!!

For the people that keep stating they are dancers and so on and its not Jazz, im an instructor in jazz and hip hop and they have a few key moves that are fosse style- who is pretty much the father of jazz dance...he did ALOT of head rolls, isolations of the hips and thrusts so it all depends on how you look at it!

But for the dance itself the movement was repetitive but it does not take away from the fact that it is STILL DANCE!! I would say with some basic hip hop AND Jazz moves...
