  • midget?

  • How do you stay up to date with all the sony vegas and photoshop software? isn't it expensive?

  • Thx Little Rich...... you made my day!

This is again a great tut.

  • Another great video. I continue to be amazed at how well and how easy you describe these effects. Your instructions are easy to follow. Well done!

  • Rather than learning how to make a working clock, this video showed me a method I had been baffled by, which was the linking of footage together. Thanks for making this video and answering the mystery.

  • AWESOME

  • great tutorial as usual my friend... that parent motion thing is a life saver, being able to nest everything together and move it as one is a life saver... when I saw that in an older vid of yours, I subbed in about 2 seconds... I would have subbed faster but my heart fluttered.

  • Another friggin awesome tutorial in Sony Vegas, Rich! This was very interesting and educational! Thank you! "Liked" and favourited!

  • @jeremyshaw Thanks so much Jeremy, really appreciated! Just making a tutorial today on a really easy way to create text that looks like glass/liquid :)

  • @richw4 You're welcome so much again, Rich, anytime! Ooh, that sounds very interesting! I'm looking forward to seeing it just based on your description! I'm actually a little excited about it! =) Awesome! Best of all, these tutorials will really help me when I get Sony Vegas!

  • yay!!!another sony vegas tutorial!!finnaly!i love you richw4!

  • @mhaikal99 thanks Mohd! I'll be putting another tutorial up today too! :)

  • Love your vegas tutorial videos! Keep up the great work!

  • @monstertunes thanks Sean! Just making another today, glad you find them helpful :)

  • @JustinJamesUK I'm so DIZZY my head is spinning! I found your time Justin..was down the sofa with a marshmallow, 10p and leaky biro :)

  • @ako675 No, just having lighting issues in the house at the minute...maybe investing in a new camera soon with a better capacity for low light filming...bloomin dark afternoons here in the UK in winter..hate them! :)

  • Interesting.

  • These are great tutorials, I use Pinnacle Studio but it's pretty much the same and found it very helpful. Nice video Rich :)

  • @Caddick12345 A lot of it is just technique as many editing programs have very similar feature, glad you found it useful mate :)

  • i remember now!

  • ლ(ಠ益ಠლ i can make clocks now

  • @xxflamingskullheadxx yaaay! Tick tock :)

  • i did one like this for my project, thankfully i took the shot in the center but it is still dificult to time, especially if its backward or several rotations quickly and other hands are doing the same

  • @Matty09Magic I know what you mean, the 'contraption' I made in this vid had loads of rotating and contra rotating objects but by adding large amounts of degree to the rotation over a short time you can get things to spin really fast, something I was looking to do for an upcoming vid of a car wheel spinning :)

  • I always enjoy your tutorials. Keep up the good work and Thank you.

  • @Thewizzardof9 I certainly will and thanks so much :)

  • Your Vegas tuts are extremely useful... for me at least so thanks!!:)

  • @milangfx Thanks Milan! So pleased they are helpful :)

  • Great to have you back in stride! Hope your visit to hospital brings good new this Friday. You'll be in our prayers. Love to Cherry and Carlie.

  • @mediayear1 Thank you so much Phil! I'll keep you posted what happens on Friday and will pass on your love and give Cherry a cuddle from you :)

  • WoW great first tip never new the centre point .. again Rich thanks for these great tips ..Its amazing how little I know about Vegas and yet I use it every day.. ..Stop Stuff ..

  • @AS6VIDEO Cheers Andy! I think in the olden days when you bought software you would get a million page instruction manual and you would go through every chapter..now we don't look at the electronic instructions and just dive in, that's why I'm always finding new stuff ;)

  • That's Awesome Rich!

  • @BIGITCHMAN thanks Itch! :)

  • Man Rich you are wayyyy too smart! Super helpful tutorial!

  • @nukem384 nah not smart I just play around a lot with my editing tools ;)

  • Thanks rich!! Your tuts are on point and informative

  • @SYZ thanks so much Syzmik, much appreciated :)

  • Really helpful stuff Rich! Had a "doh" moment

the end when you showed parenting. Thanks Rich! ☮

  • @SonyVegasPete you are welcome..I often have those faceplam moments! :)

  • Great one.

Can you show us how to do a DIGITAL version please?

    (Jack Bauer runs past...lol)

  • @RDPproject I shall have a go as someone else asked too Rob...I'm in the middle of planning the return of Little Dick and think I might use the 24 style filming for it ;)

  • Great tutorial rich! Now i can put a clock on my videos that actually tells time! Ps do you know any way to make rain and snow effects in sony vegas?

  • @brickfilms1954 Someone asked about snow...so I'm having an out of the box thinking session at the minute on how it can be done so I'll keep you posted as a Snow effect will be great coming up to Christmas :)

  • @richw4 yes it would be cool to put a snow effect in a christmas video!

  • lol i had this great see through glass text effect on vegas pro but i forgot how to do it lol! great tut rich!

  • @SonicMoose1999 oops! Watch my tutorial walkthrough on the Glass decapitation that shows how to do a bit of glass transparency..kind of :)

  • @SonicMoose1999 Just making a tutorial for you..I figured out a way to do glass text so it will be up later today :)

  • Yup center of rotation is an important bit.

  • @Arthur40TwoDent definitely for accurate animation of your objects...I did a non Youtube vid and used it for a pendulum effect of a hanged man (was for a horror website) :)

  • useful tut :)

  • @creamofcardstv cheers mate :)

  • Another great tutorial Rich I'm really wound up about it lol

  • @silentotto HAHA it's funny how time flies when you're having fun :)

  • Nice one Rich clever stuff, thank's for the thumbs up.ATB Steve.

  • @stevesnaps1 thanks so much Steve :)

  • Where do you get the hands for the clock? Oh I know the second hand shop........

Good tutorial, will try this. Good to know about the central point too when rotating.

    Marvelous Smashing Super.....

  • @kevkonk LMAO second hand shop! :) Nice video response by the way :)

  • Very nice Rich. A concise introduction into some really cool and usefull effects. Glad your back in full force and sharing your vast knowledge of Vegas. :)

  • @Hawk1964 Thanks so much Dan! like your new design on your website - the TV idea is brill :)

  • ALL INDIVIDUAL ELEPHANTS! :D

  • @pariastabendesa Woot for the editing elephants! :)

  • good video rich, i have been using vegas for over a year now and i never knew about the little circle :)

  • @bradhodgkins It took me a little while to discover it when I started using Vegas but it makes accurate rotation so easy :)

  • Great tutorial once again Rich, I was looking for a tutorial like this a couple of weeks back and couldnt find one that was quite as helpful as this. I was glad to see this video pop up in my sub box. Keep up the good work my friend!

  • @LeeLee94TV Thanks mate, I actually filmed it a little while back and wish now I had got it on Youtube sooner for you! :)

  • Many thanks Rich for yet another excellent upload. I'm slowly learning. LOL ☺♥

  • @weeyin1155 you are welcome! so pleased you find the tutorials helpful, you'll be an editing whizz in no time! :)

  • Rich, your VEGAS tutorials always make things look so simple and quick to produce. But for some old farts like myself they're a bit too fast to keep up with in real time. However, thanks to the [Pause] and [Alt]+[Tab] buttons they have been excellent tutorials for me ;-) Thanks once again.

  • @LPGexpert Thanks so much for the feedback...I'll try and go a bit slower I do rabbit a bit quick sometimes but it's tricky to try and do a tutorial in under 10 minutes (I like to keep them below this for file size and keeping people's interest) but really pleased you find them helpful :)

  • It would be good for people to use it in a halloween competition ;p Time running slowly and loudly or rapidly, you know what I mean :P It gives that little extra detail to your story :D

  • @CIAPATY1995 One of my tutorials I have half completed is on super slow mo/speeding up using some little known features in Vegas..... :)

  • @richw4 Buzzing ;)

I didn't get a chance to mess around with vegas for couple of months now ;/ I'm busy with all other stuff or just got no motivation coz I'm not a vid-making kind of person lol

Btw, don't you think one of your badges "I did it in Vegas" sounds a bit misleading? :p

  • I will have to try Vegas when I get a chance looks easy to use :)

  • @iPhoneSnappyGuy I think that is the nice thing about it it's ease of use. Not really good for the real snazzy effects of AE BUT for putting a film together and composing it it's ace, especially for the audio track facilities :)

  • great video. im going to have to check out your past videos on motion tracking as im not very good it it. loving the music at the end :)

  • @lambarini Cheers Sammy! The tracking of multiple objects is so useful for so many things - now as for the music it is from footagefirm ..royalty free, just got another 18 DVD's of their music from their site so have to find time to put them onto the PC (not bad value either as you only pay for postage on their 'Free' music BUT it is postage PER DVD) :)

  • @richw4 wow! you only pay postage! sounds great. might have to check this site out :)

  • Love your tutorials, I wish I'd found you long ago! I have just subscribed last night after a friend pointed me to you. Thank you for the help! This one reminds me of something I wish Vegas could, but now I am thinking, to heck with Vegas being able to do it, Little Rich probably can. :) The effect is simply...a digital clock counting down or counting up, rather than an analog one. So can you make Vegas do it, with any font or number style we might want to use? Thank you!

  • @EiKanProductions Thanks so much for the subscription, you should find plenty of useful tips in my Editing Playlist - link on my channel and the end of this vid....I made a scrolling LED banner a while ago but now you got me thinking about the countdown clock....I shall not rest now till I figure something out, I have a few ideas as you can do it simply with keyframes and saving as a template but I'll see if i can do something a little fancier but simple so I'll keep you posted :)

  • @richw4 Cool Beans! I will be looking forward to it. It was the LED banner that my friend pointed me to last night, BTW....but it was your clock that triggered my "challenge" thought to you. :) I had been looking for software that creates countdowns, but the styles are severely limited. (Check my channel). It would be great to be able to do my own. I suspect the more elaborate ones are done in After Effects, but I have yet to tackle AE when I can usually fake it in Vegas 8.

  • Very cool :)

Keep them coming Rich, I've learnt so much from your tutorials :)

Have you a tutorial for a snow fall effect ? (Xmas coming up and all that)

  • @kvfive It's tricky with vegas not having a particle generator to create snow etc HOWEVER a lot of my stuff comes from thinking out the box so I may have a tinker and see what I can come up with :)

  • @richw4 How about making the star field fall? :)

  • great tutorial i keep learning all the time

  • @jackocloud cheers, glad you found it helpful :))

  • I always wondered what that little center nub was for!

  • @ratuse LOL In the early days I used to re-size objects and get really frustrated when they went all over the screen when rotating objects but when I found the use of the rotation point it became really useful for say 'swinging' an object in a pendulum motion as well as fully rotating objects :)

  • @richw4 Ttook me a while to figure out what that nub was for, too. But since I noticed early on that it could be moved, I decided the best thing was NEVER let it move from its original position when the image moved. I later discovered that was a good strategy after all. :) That's my rule--if something doesn't move when you move something else....start over and make it move with the item until you figure out WHY it is there and what happens if you separate it from its original position. :)

  • Exellent tutorial Rich.:)

btw Did you upgrade to Sony Vegas Pro 11 yet,and if so what do you think of it?

  • @MrSoundwave1970 Thank you so much! I haven't yet upgraded as from what I've seen of the features there is not an awful lot of new things to warrant it yet. The pro-titler has been repackaged to make it easier to use and Vegas now supports a lot more graphics cards for rendering (but pro-10 also has GPU acceleration too) :)

  • @richw4 Oh i didn`t know that,i have version 11 now and it doesn`t support my Nvidia 9800 GT card as of yet.

  • awsome video, missed this kind of tutorials =)

can i ask if you do 2 minutes the seconds would be -720? and so on for every time that we want?

  • @ziwao Yes just remember for each second of video = 6 degrees. Try adding a ridiculous figure like 36,000 over a short clip and watch your object SPIN! LOL That's how I made that 'contraption' in the tutorial by adding just one key frame at the end of each object and say I wanted it to rotate 50 times just 360*50=18,000 :)

  • great video tutorial ...

  • @oELGATOo thank you Alberth :)

  • Awesome tutorial Rich! =)

  • @sandrateager thanks so much Sandra :)

  • @richw4 YOU are definitely most welcome! =)

  • awesome as usual Rich, I got sony vegas 11 the other week and honestly its not as good as I thought. But anyway now to have a go at this :)

  • @attomtv Cheers Alex, I got an offer to upgrade from Sony at a really reduced rate but to be honest I haven't ..I'm not sure that the extra features are worth it at the minute :)

  • @richw4 i totally agree with you, they aren't really worth it at all. The interface has changed slightly as well which is a pain in the backside lol

  • Great video rich. Could you upload a video showing the new features on Sony Vegas 10? That would be awesome.

  • @ecartman12 I haven't yet got 11 as I'm not convinced by the additional features. I just did a search on Youtube for you and there are videos showing the new features. I guess the GPU acceleration is cool although the latest Pro10 updates have it too. They have re-packaged the Pro-titler to make it easier to use .. :)

  • @richw4 thanks. Keep up the awesome work. Love your tutorials. They really are the highlights of your channel in my opinion. Thumbs up for you as usual.

  • my girlfriend tells me that im not short, im fun size, but im 5'6" so i cant possibly think what she means..

  • @MalTube93 LOL! well it's still nearly 2 feet taller than me! you are a giant! ;)

  • @richw4 I once had a 6 ft boyfriend who told me he had the "statistically perfect American family"....2.5 kids. Then I met his 3 ft son. :) Yes, definitely a "fun-sized" guy. Made me more aware of the challenges to things the rest of us "short" people (5 ft) take for granted.

  • for now gonna stick to wmm lol much too complicated for me : )

  • @steviejacko You can't beat WMM and let's not forget Windows Paint! I love that program :)

  • Awesome tutorial Rich, it might get me to reinstall Sony vegas!

  • @TheCMWUK Cheers! I have a few tutorials half finished so maybe a few more very interesting things to keep you amused in Vegas coming! :)

  • You can loop the second hand clip but for videos longer than a minute you'll have to change the angles for the other two hands . Maybe i'll give this a try in a video!

  • @SiddharthsVlogs good point, yes with the second hand you can just loop it. If you had say a gear or wheel to rotate you can also at the end of the clip set a keyframe and set the angle to say 36,000 and the object will rotate a hundred times within the length of the clip, you can use this to make things appear to spin really fast/slow as needed :)

  • Great tutorial as always Rich. I have never thought of doing anything like this. I do agree that its always best to mess about and get it working yourself. So as to understand how it does what its doing. I want a beard now

  • @markasomerville As you do with your excellent editing! I think I still have a few trimmings left to get you started Mark ;)

  • MOVENMEBER :)

  • @tastetherainbow4321 oops I went a bit mad with the beard trimmer I bought and cut all of it off a few days ago oops! Will still be contributing to the Movenmber cause though, I filmed a comedy sketch about shaving it off which I'll put up at some time :)

  • @TheGameDock like a record baby right round round round...Dizzy, I'm so dizzy my head is spinning LOL Me no longer caveman, me killed beard ;)

  • rich u r so sound!

  • @ctmanny LoL that's a proper Yorkshire phrase they use round here...sound! :)

  • @richw4 thankkz for replying! ive never had sum 1 famous talk to me. thankyou!!!!

  • Got a bit of a beard going there rich! Looking like a real hard-working dad now ;D No offence

  • @geniusinmotion LOL I actually had to go out and buy a beard/hair trimmer the other week (although a lawnmower would have done the job!) and now the beard has gone, filmed this before it went though :)

  • Looks awesome, Rich. :)

  • @MrConConsftw cheers mate :)

  • the url tries to feed me :s
