Loved facing Duke's 3rd form on my 1st playthrough. If it wasn't for "Blah Blah Blah METEOR STORM!!" spam I would've gotten torn apart. Honestly though, who puts a secret boss at end game? Kinda stupid.

@StakemZ haha nyice. I accidentally used all of my specifics during the first two duke fights after his big bang attack. Repede's speedy item skill and Estelle's O.L nightingale spam were the only reason I beat his 3rd form. That Brave Vesperia mystic arte is isane!

I have never had such a hard time with a final boss in any game ever. I also was stupid and got ALL the Fel Arms and did everything need to activiate Duke's thrid form BY ACCIDENT and was like 15 levels to low to deal with him. This music really had me pumped during the entire fight, the best boss music I can remember in a long time, except maybe the Prince from Legend of Legaia

To the people talking about the storyline and how good it is, etc. I'd like to add that to me this story felt more like a personal story about the characters, especially Yuri. Sure, they saved the world and all that typical RPG stuff, but that wasn't really the main focus of this game. Tales of Symphonia felt much grander in that respect. But the characters in Vesperia are very detailed and the story is more about them than saving the world.

it depends on which lvl you were fighting him i was lvl 55 when i fought Alexei and had no big problems even on hard mode but Duke is a bit different because of his teleporting and Big Bang

It's true that I was probably underleveled when i fought him (probably 40-50). In the end all I needed was a few more levels so that my characters had enough HP and defence to survive Brilliant Cataclysm, but even so it was always a struggle to recover from the damage (didn't help that I didn't have Recover as a skill at that point >.>)

best is that you get the weapon skills that raises hp and strenth/magic whatever your character needs and its good to have karol in party because he has the highest hp to begin with so he can survive a bit longer

Come to think of it, one of my characters managed to avoid Brilliant Cataclysm entirely once XD. Can't remember who it was (maybe Estelle).

same with me what you do is make sure he uses it at the far end of the field then you make your characters go to the opposite side BAR one so that one chara gets brilliant cataclysmed and your other guys are safe :D

@marklenthecool There is no Mania in Tales of Vesperia, just Unknown mode. But Duke's 3rd form on hard isn't hard compared to Kratos on Unknown, and Kratos on Unknown still isn't as hard as facing Abyssion from Symphonia on Mania. I would know from experience

I leveled all my characters up to 200, on multiple playthroughs in Vesperia, both Duke and Kratos aren't that hard for any good player. Both Duke and Kratos can be fought using the Fell arms through grade shop, the devils arms have no effect on abyssion. Clearly you never played a game on a difficulty harder than hard mode. Stop being a fanboy. Kratos and Duke are hard, but Abyssion is harder.

Sakuraba uses the same sort of 4 starting notes in a lot of his final battle themes, does anyone notice that? Listen to Highbrow of SO3, Integral Body, Imperfect Soul from SO2, and Ruined Body's battle theme from Eternal Sonata. Don't the beginnings sound similar?
