  • Nice video Davey!

  • A pole smokin' butt pirate , for sure ! Really really really for sure ! Sperm belchin' he -whore . Fags ruin Montreal , just like Key West . really really really .

  • Quebec City is more French. Montreal is distinctly bilingual and not everyone speaks French (or English). Too bad his impressions are so overstated and so focused on the language and Paris-based French stereotypes. And he needs to get his cute (if wifty) self out of the hotel room and down to the gay village to meet the hotties of Montreal; that might change his 'tude.

  • Im French speaking and I have to admit,

People do have attitudes because they are so scared that the little bit of culture they have is going to faid...

  • @MrWillywilling It´s not only Quebec. All the cultures of the world are being influenced by the American culture.

  • I've been to Montreal and I know people from Quebec. They do have attitudes and think they know it all.

But in reality, they're the fishes out of water, being the only French speaking province in North America.

  • i love how the advertisement thats attached to our video is all about speedos. xD

  • spyrograph is wrong! wrong wrong wrong. i'm shocked to hear so many people complain about the french being arrogant. have they been to new york?? or the tourist attractions in toronto? i've met the most appalling people in both places, mostly women. stuck up and the most arrogant a human can get. it's like a popularity contest just by walking down the streets in new york. it's ridiculus and annoying. the menmon the other hand are a lot nicer. and no not in a sexual way...

  • the french have a lot of attitude...im not suprised w your observation. it's worst in paris....the south of france is nice though. beach culture is always more chill though!

davey wavey you could totally model. dont know why you are not!

  • the population of montreal in 3.9 million!!!!

  • the city population is about 2 million

  • Im from Montreal and I kinda agree with wat u said bout the attitude... When we go to the states its like everyones friendly if u smile at them, they smile back but here if u smile at someone they think ur nuts :P and give u dirty lookss... BUT with that said, it doesnt go for everyone I think its most the french quebecois that r like this butnot all! Cuz im french and im nice :P

  • When visiting another culture try learning something about it ! I think the people Quebec just want respect. I have been going to Montreal for 40 years. They are no more rude than other North Americans.

  • my language is french but i sure speak english too..i M pround to speak these 2 languages. i think everybody should be fier de parler les 2 langues.

  • FUCK KEBEK

  • FUCK YOU LITTLE WHORE!

  • the populatio is actally a bit more than 3 million

  • I thought Quebec was more French-speaking than Montreal.

Mais encore, je ne suis qu'un americain bete.

  • well the language in Montreal depends on where you are....

  • in downtown montreal do they speak english or french or is it a mix?

  • mostly french, some english, but most french people can speak enough english to help you out

  • if you dont speak french when ur in quebec they tend to be very rude to you

  • You were shocked by how french Montreal was? I live here, and I'm anglo and I'm still surprised by how english it is. Other than the signs, of course, which are and should be french.

  • Montreal sounds... interesting.

  • The only reason ALL the signs are in french is cuz of the language police. Everybody there speaks at least a little english and about 35-40% of the city is native english (myself included). It truly is bilingual as there are public schools in both languages.

  • Vive le Québec!

  • and Montreal is the most bilingual city in Quebec, try Q. City for Frenchness

  • I love Montreal! My boyfriend and I went there together about a year ago and we had a great time. I, too, was surprised by the French EVERYWHERE, but I didn't find the people to have an attitude of superiority. I thought they were SUPER nice. It may help that I have SOME French language skills and that my bf is pretty fluent. Now try going there and ordering from a Vietnamese restaurant. THAT's a trip! Three languages at once!

  • Vive le québec! =D

  • French arrogance even in Canada...shocking LOL

  • I just noticed, as Amber MacArthur did on a recent net@night episode, that Americans tend to say "Montreal" with the emphasis on MON, while English-speaking Canadians often say it with emphasis on the EAL. At the same time, French speakers pronounce it the way it should be - Montréal, with a rolled R and accented E.

Excellent observations, nonetheless, about French Canadian culture.

  • I'm a French speaking Canadian from outside of Québec, and you've said that right! The people in Québec think they're better than the "English", and they think they're the only French speakers in Canada, which pretty much insults people like me. Hope you had a great time! I love that city!

  • its very Bilingual.....to me the "purebreed french quebecers"(purlaine in french) are really just like american Hicks.....

The ones that have something more to say than"quebec this and speak french and bla bla bla" are much better people overall than our majority hick french people!"

as for mtl its very bilingual!

anyways lol nice video i like seing how other people view my city!

  • well the problem with that is that many french people refuse to learn english which is stupid because that ruins their lives.....

  • French people in general are very proud of their culture and heritage. French Canadiens I would say are even more proud because of their history and still holding onto their culture values, language and identity. It comes off rude to Americans, and maybe some fellow Canadiens, but you can't take it personally.

  • keep in mind Quebec is the oldest part of north-anerican Europe

  • If I lived as close to Montreal as Rhode Island or Toronto are, I'd drive up there plenty. It's hard to believe that such a majorly French city is only a short road trip away from New York and many other English-speaking cities that Americans are so familiar with.

  • They have a very poor attitude. They want to seperate from Canada. That's how French they are!

  • im french ^^ i can learn yOu french ^^

  • Canadians, in general, do no like Americans. French Canadians especially do not like Americans.

Montreal may be much more French and foreign than you're used to, but really it's a very bilingual city, at least compared to Quebec City, the province's capital. When I was there, everyone I spoke with was happy and capable to speak English.

  • Are you drunk?

  • No I am not....

I have lived in Quebec my whole life and I went to the united states for 3 months last year.... and trust you me ! they are much more hospitable and polite....

  • Well I heard a lady once in orlande she was asking IN FRENCH how much something costs!

  • There's a long history between French speaking and English speaking Canada. It's not surprising that there is still tension between French and English speakers in Quebec today. It's a lot better in Montreal, but worse in Quebec City.

  • "I'm so bi.... lingual" perfect line! you are funny :)

  • I only know a little french words and phrases. But I have found that french speaking people appreciate you giving it a go instead of expecting them to speak english. The attitude you probably sensed is probably from that they come across many who expect them to speak and understand english when they don't have to at all. After all you were in a French area. What a great learning experience for you though. I've picked up that word delightful lol. It sounds better to me than fabulous.

  • It's crazy to speak French in Montreal? lol (a French speaking province) Only an American can say something like that. lol I lived in Montreal 10 years and it was an AMAZING 10 years! The men in Montreal are the SEXIEST IN THE WORLD! WOOF!!!

  • the french are very defensive of their cities and language (and they do look down on you if you talk english) I'm part french and noticed that when I was younger.

    Love

  • You dont think part of the problem is that People dont make the effort much to even try & say a few words in French?,I grew up in Montreal & live in the U.K now , it's so multi cultral everyone knows a little of each other's Language's.

  • ps: sorry forthe awful spelling: no space!!

  • hey.I think u shuld go2 montreal again& go downtown,its less french,but there R lots of french speaking ppl almost everywhere!but u would B surprised 2 find perfectly bilingual ppl,so u shud always try!Ppl here in mtl want 2 preserve their language cause its rare in canada so everything in french comes 1st.i think u should give it a 2nd chance!:Dwhere didu go in mtl?did u go upnorth?downtown ste-cath & crescent?st-denis?old mtl?china town?any parks?what restaurants?hope 2 hear more from u!

  • Get that shirt off!

  • So in response to your latest French blog. I'm a 20-year-old voice major and part of our curriculum is to study French, Italian, and German, and what I noticed when I took French was that they totally avoided things like teaching you to say "You're Welcome" or we learned that you can't casually ask someone "Hi How are you today?" unless you know them on a pretty personal basis, which makes shopping, eating out, and just plain socializing a little strange to Americans.

  • I've heard that before about Montreal, but give it time and keep getting out and mixing with the locals. I'm sure there are many who would be anxious to make up for that stereotype. I had heard similar things about NYC locals, and was actually pleasantly surprised by many that I met there. Check out Montreal's gay club scene. I've heard good things.
