Wasn't he called Hans Lundgren in those days, or am I suffering from to much head contact.. fortunately he had moved on the year before I started competing .
Btw. note to all the negative comments, you should 'do it' before you 'review it'!!!
GREAT fight. Watching this video, it's hard for me to believe how young Dolph is, and at 6'6....all I have to say is, I'm glad I wasn't Jeff Whybrow in this fight!
Because he is like a 4-time world champion or something. Not to mention MMA does not have a lot of padded fights like Boxing. In the UFC, fans love to see potential champions fighting each other, and the UFC gives them that.
@kitty84album consistant title holder or contender in different weight classes for over a decade. He hasn't fought bums, his record is a whos who of MMA. Anyone can have a good record if they fight bums. Francisco Filho's K1 record is not great (won about 60% of the time), but everyone he faced was class and his wins included 4 separate K1 champs. Fight records aren't everything.
who oh you mean randy i got cought with a switch front kick that you learn in the first 6 months of martial arts training couture oh that guy. but he would sort him out
You again? Do you go to every single Dolph Lundgren full-contact / Kyokushin Karate vides and write the same thing over and over? Also, what is your fighting record to become such an authority on the skills and powers of fighters? Surely an Internet superman / keyboard champion, lol.
@unikad Please watch Andy Hug´s fighting footages in K-1 and you will see a real karate style in a high level. Those two still have a long way until taht level.
@unikad Please watch Andy Hug´s fighting footages in K-1 and you will see a real karate style in a high level. Those two still have a long way until that level.
1.30 Nice Osoto-gari. Nice to see the throwing side of Kyukoshin used well in a fight. People tend to forget that along with Shotokan and Goju-ryu techniques Masutatsu Oyama also taught Judo techniques for a more well-rounded style.
good fight but here you see how useless palm strikes are when you fight someone experienced. head shots are obviously taboo in karate but that is also karates greatest flaw. practitioners (unless some experience in full contact) can't possibly learn how to defend or offend against them.
@FEINS1 The style of karate here is Kyokushinkai. Their full contact tournament rules prohibit punches to the head for safety reasons, but I suspect that in controlled sparring head shots are allowed, as happens in every style of karate ......Kyokushin practitioners, correct me if I am wrong please (I am former shotokan so may be making this up!)
@ClydeRowing absolutely, as a Kyokushin student i can confirm that there is no punches to the face in any type of competition or Dojo sparring. however, we do train to deliver head shots with amazing power stopping only an inch away from the target - points sparring. the theory behind this is that the technique is there, as you control the strike you are thinking about the power, speed and distance; in a real fight it will come naturally as you just need to eliminate that inch!
@oyamaisgod we do train to deliver head shots with amazing power stopping only an inch away from the target ..this is ecacly problem of kyokushin..this is sucks..your muscle memory will same control in real fight..do you have idea how looks reaal fights?when in 10 seconds you got 20 shot to your head leg stomach youin panic you do not have time to think about anything you body doing what was memorise and kyokushin fighter cant do head shot
@oyamaisgod great! so you guys can train you hole life and never know what its like to be punched in the head or maybe you just are supposed to think about what thats like too.....well good luck with that
@1964381 in most kyokushin classes no gloves equals no face contact. when mits or gloves worn face contact is permitted. Just like boxing, mma, muay thai or any other style. Perhaps I'm mistaken and you can enlighten me, but which styles allow face contact in classes without gloves or mits?
i cant stoppicturing Dolph saying this after the fight: IF HE DIES, HE DIES hahahahah he does have (or had who knows) really fast legs, and his knee blows look powerful, i saw a video a while back in one of this tournaments with him winning ko thanks to a powerful knee blow
Jeff Whybrow V Dolph Lundgren! F#@king epic video from back in the earlier days of BKK/IFK. Jeff was the man back then and gave as good as he got from much bigger Dolph!
All the UFC lovers were probably born in the 90s. back in the day universal soldier was ace and drago of course, I feel they missed the best of the last films before they went all CGI
how the fuck can kar-a-te be classed as a serious combat sport. This looks like 2 drunk toddlers imitating the power rangers. absolutly usless, i squared up to a guy in a pub car park once and he screamed and pulled a silly stance karate style like, so i threw three quick straight punches then head butted him TWICE the caught him with a knee on the way down. He didnt get close to blocking anything, he just looked a twat.
@crissxxx im actually not against karate as a sport, i jst dont think it's effective as a survival skill, like the many dissalusioned students in dojo's across the world are being told. Judo is far better for that scenario or bjj. But i know theres no doubt that a decent properly executed karate punch or kick would do considerable damage. if landed!! but i must say lyoto machida is incredible the way he uses it!! i often wonder if he is considered the best?
Well here is thing,Karate was used in WW2 in warfare but it was used to kill unlike today which is sport. As bruce lee said "some became sport" meaning that the original non-stripped style is fully efficient.
@scottval321 Look up Mas (masutatsu) Oyama, he created kyokushin which had elements of a lot of fighting styles including boxing, judo, karate, kung fu and even aikido and kenpo (do not confuse with kendo) - boxers have exceptional force in their punches, judo has throws and sweeps, aikido is controlling the opponent, kung fu is fast strikes although with little force, karate is an all rounded style and kenpo is the weapons training imagine a style with all these elements in one - kyokushin
@scottval321 Glaube Feitosa, Ewerton Teixiera, Andy hug, Sam Greco, Gerard Gordeau, Andrews Nakahara, Lyoto Machida, Peter Smit, Katsinori Kikuno, Fransisco Filho, Chuck Liddell, Ryo Chonnin, Bas Rutten, GSP beg to differ. All use Karate and have been champions in MMA, Muay Thai or K1. If this is news to you perhaps you need to go back to watching football instead of opening your mouth and exposing your ignorance.
Why does everyone want to compare amature Martial arts to the UFC a proffesional sport, of course the pro would come off better in a fight (probably) they train full time have nutritionist and a full complement of staff. (not to mention the fact that they all look steroid enhanced) But Kyokushin fighters have full time jobs and train in their spare time. Domzdream we dont punch to the face because we don't wear gloves but take a few good bare knuckles to the ribs and you'll know it trust me
hyerfastmalmsteen@ u fucking dum ass this where long before ufc and it is karate at that time not ji jitsu or mma! And polaks and swedes have nothing incomen! and if u get ur ass kick at school here in sweden well then i am so sorry u pussy...
dolph got fucking owned 1:30 lol...a big guy like dolph had problem with this guy?..dolph would get his ass destroyed from a light weight pro UFC or even an amateur UFC guy..Dolph is a swede..and swedish people will always get their ass kicked..just like polaks..Russians are bad ass!..im not russian..but swedes and polaks always had their ass kicked in school, bar, disco and UFC and karate..because swedes and polaks like sausage with bröd more
I never liked this kind of 'fighting' in thse competitions. You whack the shit out of each other until one of you succumbs. It's messy, and lacks class.
Also, why the hell are they allowed kicks to the face but not punches. That's retarded.
@Domzdream Hitting someone in the face with your hands/fists is easier than placing a kick there, that rule was meant for competitor's safety, in the beginning it was a no holds barred bare knuckle fight, but there were so many competitors injured that they had to put some rules. Same thing happened with vale tudo, you can check some early videos of ppl pounding the face with bare knuckles and punching the nuts of the opponent.
The other guy was doing a better job but they both appeared weak. I've had sparring sessions that were a lot more aggressive than this.
