I really liked this video. As a gamer myself I still find it weird that guys are so surprised over seeing a woman playing games and being as obsessed as they can be, yelling at the screen and flipping tables. I live in Sweden and almost every time that I say that "I am a gamer too", and not just the Sims and Farmville but League of Legends, Skyrim and Assassins creed, they have a hard time believing me because I look like a girl and not like a transvestite.
I'm never racist or homophobic...seriously, maybe jokingly, but that's beside the point. I do admit though, that I'm always surprised to see a gamer girl, you are a rare breed, that's fact. Your mixed message confused me a little as well as devalued the morals of a male gamer by stereotyping THEM. Not all of them are there to see you lift your shirt up and flame you for being female. I don't use my mic when I play online, and my username is gender neutral just so people don't know I'm a girl, the video is great but it makes me sad reading through the comments and seeing people putting you down for making a valid point. It probably won't change many people's attitudes but it's good that you're raising awareness about the sexism going on in the gaming world.
The comments on this video are ridiculous. Anyone who doesn't think homophobia, sexism, and racism are common in the gaming community is kidding themselves. As much as I disagree with what some commenters are writing, I'd rather not turn comments off, for a couple reasons... I'm not a fan of censorship (the only comments I delete are ones that could be reeeeally hurtful to other people) and YT doesn't look at the content of comments, just the number of comments, so even negative comments help the ranking of this video in search results and, therefore, help spread the message.

If you don't want to be singled out for being a girl that plays video games then here's an idea: stop making a big deal about being a girl that plays video games! For example: stop reffering to yourself as 'Gamer Girls' and instead just call yourself a gamer.
Also, for being someone against being hit on by guys because you're a 'Gamer Girl' you really should have chosen a better username than SexyNerdGirl. That name is just begging to get attention.
The problem is plenty of women who play video games love making it known that they are in fact, women. Two things will arise from this. Either A.) People treat them like goddesses or B.) Rampant sexism. And both ways give them what they love, attention. This video is an excellent example of that.

They just respond with "yes, I'm a women, yes I play games" and everything said in the video AFTER being abused/sexually harassed/stalked/ threatened in game, on a guild forum, vent, xbox live etc when someone hears their voice or sees their gaming profile gender set to F. It's also not for special treatment. It's pointing out they are NORMAL, just women, and want to be treated normally and not harassed, abused etc etc.
@aerynwalker I'm just arguing from experience, and apparently so are many other people here. I have played with women where when asked if they were female or not they replied yes and played the game. No one harassed them and everything continued as normal. Everything was fine and we all had fun. But I've also played with girls that brought up the fact that they were a girl every few minutes to gain attention. She then was attacked with sexism and so forth.

A lot of the time when a girl gamer is being treated differently in game is because other guys are hitting on her.
The amount of girl gamers are on the rise, but they are still rare.
If there are as many girl gamers out there compare with guy gamers, all the guy gamers won't get obsesses with seeing a girl in game.
Everyone wants to date someone who shares the similar interest, and it's just kinda hard for a gamer to find a girl like that.

It's practically the neutral stand and is a classic example of male privilege in the virtual world. I'm sure guys have no problems answering questions about their sex/gender, or asserting their masculinity online, but the moment a woman does something similar, EVERYONE gets on their case, and they get called "stupid" or "needy".

If you identify yourself as female in the video gaming world, you are more likely to get harassed. It doesn't ALWAYS happen, but it happens often enough. It's not a matter of me thinking HIGHLY about this video, but focusing on the issues it's trying to raise.

@riotattack93 The point is that no one creates a fuss if a dude asserts his masculinity, or answers queries about his sex/gender online; after all, it is somewhat assumed you are male until proven otherwise. But the moment a female indicates she is one online, she is at risk of getting insults thrown at her, catcalls, are told to get naked etc. And that just isn't right.

The problem is plenty of women who play video games love making it known that they are in fact, women. Two things will arise from this. Either A.) People treat them like goddesses or B.) Rampant sexism. And both ways give them what they love, attention. This video is an excellent example of that.
Note the fact that every woman in the video also caked on tons of makeup.

They just respond with "yes, I'm a women, yes I play games" and everything said in the video AFTER being abused/sexually harassed/stalked/ threatened in game, on a guild forum, vent, xbox live etc when someone hears their voice or sees their gaming profile gender set to F. It's also not for special treatment. It's pointing out they are NORMAL, just women, and want to be treated normally and not harassed, abused etc etc.

@aerynwalker I'm just arguing from experience, and apparently so are many other people here. I have played with women where when asked if they were female or not they replied yes and played the game. No one harassed them and everything continued as normal. Everything was fine and we all had fun. But I've also played with girls that brought up the fact that they were a girl every few minutes to gain attention. She then was attacked with sexism and so forth.
