If you hit the head the animal or the spine it may instantly have nerves fire and look like its alive but its not, the erratic movement is noticeable to experienced shooters as a kill. if an animal clinches up ITS NOT DEAD!!! its a natural pain reaction and the animal will often gut up and run off QUICKLY, so go ahead and take a another good clean shot.
@BULLET9992 Spine shots can completely ruin the tenderloin on a pig. I've pegged deer that when field dressed revealed completely destroyed lungs and/or heart that still ran a good 20-30 yards after the shot was made before collapsing. Unless you take a shot that's not going to be terminal within 30 seconds or so there is no reason to take another shot, especially if you intend on harvesting meat from the animal.

It seems like it may have been a very nice pig, swine, as maybe it would occasionally give gifts to nurses or make appropriate phone calls on his best friend's birthday, or maybe the pig let an old woman have his seat on the bus one day, or maybe been very nice to others? If so, the pig was some sort of local hero who gave clothes to local starving children? The pig may have been nice even to one man, or woman, maybe by lighting a candle?

A bullet travels roughly the same speed of the nervous system electrical pulses. WHICH IS AROUND 200 MPH. !! Depending the bullet... The 50 cal. travels 2x the speed of sound.
Most hunters do not shoot head shots because the brain is so small and not all rounds based on angle and shot placement will go through the skull of the game of choice. This is why most hunters will tell you, you are lying if you say you kill your food with head shots. No flaming just honesty. Lungs and heart are a better option and the least damage to meat as long as your shot is in the cage, better chance than a head shot Rambo.

A bullet travels roughly the same speed of the nervous system electrical pulses. WHICH IS AROUND 200 MPH. !! Depending the bullet... The 50 cal. travels 2x the speed of sound.

Most hunters do not shoot head shots because the brain is so small and not all rounds based on angle and shot placement will go through the skull of the game of choice. This is why most hunters will tell you, you are lying if you say you kill your food with head shots. No flaming just honesty. Lungs and heart are a better option and the least damage to meat as long as your shot is in the cage, better chance than a head shot Rambo.

@ChronicMist well if you know anything about the nervous system all nerves are connected to the brain which provide them power. Pain is felt because of Nerves and if you take away the nerves power than there is little to no pain before the animal dies.

...even with a strike to the head, the animal is not dead, it's still alive and unconscious, but it can still feel pain for the next 1-2 minutes before the hearth stops pumping blood, and some extra 1 minute after that until the brain shuts down

Bullets travel faster than nerve signals. A bullet going through the head would have been long gone before the body could have ever even had the chance to feel pain. By the time those signals reach the brain, the brain would have already been destroyed (Hence no pain). Judging by what you've said, you don't sound like a med student.

950mps equals 3100fps. only the fastest varmit rounds approach the 4000fps speeds. check your math and balistics charts...

@jaehood109 youd be surprised field and stream once covered a couple that hunts elk with a bullpup .50 bmg. it really isnt that bad. I have also seen a show where they shoot a red flanked duiker(on of the worlds smallest antelope it weighs about 10 pounds) with a .375 h&h. the hole was just about an inch wide on both sides.

@jaehood109 Why? It's a complete waste of money. A .50 caliber rifle is a lot more powerful in real life than it is is CoD. If you miss your target with a .50, the sheer concussion of such a large projectile moving so fast would still rupture the target's organs. You don't need that kind of power to take down a boar.
