Stahl said govt actually reported that # of cases over 30 years, not 3. In 3 years referenced the govt registered 398 new cases. "If we reported it, it's a fact," Dobbs said.When asked how he could guarantee it. "Because... that's the way we do business. We don't make up numbers. Do we?"
Something doesnt sound right about those numbers. If there have been 7,000 reported cases over a 30 yr period, why are many sites on the net still saying there are 6,500 to 7000 active cases now? With an average of 200 to 250, depending on what site you check, reported yearly. It is a treatable disease, why is it growing so? Dobbs got his information from a respected doctor, so he believed it, just like you believe the information your quoting.

"If we reported it, it's a fact," Dobbs said.When asked how he could guarantee it. "Because... that's the way we do business. We don't make up numbers. Do we?"

Something doesnt sound right about those numbers. If there have been 7,000 reported cases over a 30 yr period, why are many sites on the net still saying there are 6,500 to 7000 active cases now? With an average of 200 to 250, depending on what site you check, reported yearly. It is a treatable disease, why is it growing so? Dobbs got his information from a respected doctor, so he believed it, just like you believe the information your quoting.

I disagree completely - the causes of this mess are deregulation and 8 years of Bush administration.
Corporations are greedy - government must establish limits and impose some rules. "Laissez faire, laissez passer" is an outdated principle...

no crispiva, it was caused by malinvestment, that was because of easy credit from the federal reserve. they took away the risk. laissez faire capitalism didnt exist. we dont need more regulation we just need anti fraud laws to be enforced. that requires the govt to not be corrupt. to do that we have to limit govt so there would be no incentive for lobbyists. libertarians/austrian economist predicted this and explains the cause perfectly. it was corporatism that caused this not capitalism

Lobbyists are a disgrace and must be stopped. (So we need more regulation and law enforcement).
There are many capitalist economies with large welfare states that don't leave room for lobbying activity eg Scandinavia

you ignored a few things.govt is corrupt and govt is unnessary at best when they are big.libertarian/austrian economist solution is to simply follow the constitution and have a limited govt. we just need to enforce anti fraud laws. so called regulations have unintended consequences. fed reserve is the enabler of deficits,wars,welfare,big govt.we did not have capitalism cus of the central bank distorting the economy, we did not keep the fruits of our labor cus of improperly ratified16th amendment

Corruption exists in all levels of society as long as there is too much concentration of money and power. Eg when doctors give a medicine to patients who don't need it because receive "presents" from drug companies...
Law and law enforcement should be responsible for curbing it. The constitution doesn't cover all areas - needs with more specific regulation. Educated people don't reelect corrupt representatives. Improve education and information available to stop corruption.

From my own personal viewpoint, CNN hovers towards the center, with perhaps a little left-leaning (those that say there's more left lean than that, I simply don't see it). However, they are seemingly DETERMINED to discuss Barack Obama's EVERY LAST MOVEMENT short of his farts!!! It is so damn tiresome

@crispiva1 again you ignored the fact that govt is corrupt. you limit govt otherwise they would be the biggest monopoly.. the constitution is not perfect, but all our problems was caused because we did not follow it. it was written in general terms. u dont need specific regulation to make it more complex. govt should have specific duty/power(among a few others) to enforce fraud laws, they dont need other powers that gives lobbyists an incentive to lobby. we dont need more regulations

Money is power in itself that can only be checked by the power of community (government).
Corporations, if left alone without supervision, would become government itself!

BTW the only reason why I've watched this video is because I believe that impartial reporting of news is the best way to prevent corruption and lobbying activity.
If well-educated and well-informed, people will fight corrupt politicians.
On the other hand, I think government should refrain from interfering in the private life of citizens (except to prevent crime) and in the progress of science. I'm pro-choice, pro-gay mariage, pro-stem cell research, pro-science, pro-laicism.

CNN makes more money than "Faux News" - even in the US - because of its broad, diversified, not so loyal audience - advertisers prefer them. Ratings inside the US is not the best variable to analyse the industry.
