  • FUUUUUUUUCK I hate beeing sick! :(

  • holy shit this is outstanding !!

  • It's not Dionysos against "The crossed one"-

    It´s Ra-Hoor -Khuit against HEKATE!

  • Braaaaaaavooooo! I love you dearly,my friend-This song by Nick Drake IS THE HOPE OF THOSE WHO ENDURE!!!

  • total virtuoso

  • Yes!

  • love it! btw is he bilind?( not being rude just curious)

  • @786hacker nope. just feelin it

  • This is the first time since 'Little Wing' that a song silence me completly....amazing

  • My god. Left hand at 1:06!

  • This was the last song my Son Billy Jervis heard before dying in a car crash 03/04/07 one Sunday morning on his way to play piano at his church. Billy received a full ride at the University of Cincy Conserv. of Music but he never knew he got accepted. Brad was one of his favorites... see billyjervis magic on youtube

  • @Anytimerepairman Your son had a proper taste for music. Unlike many kids these days.

  • @Anytimerepairman

    I'm sorry man

  • godamn he's good

  • que fuerte una version de nick drake!!! Cuanto tiempo sin escucharlo!!

  • bardzo ładnie giba.

  • He's that good

  • wow you can really feel nick drake in it

  • I love these Morning Becomes Eclectic performances...sometimes they release them as albums, but i've been unable to locate this one. Can anyone help?

  • omg, can't stop listening to this. brad is one of a kind.

  • The way Mehldau pulls music out of the piano is absolutely incredible, making me believe that the piano is not a percussive instrument. The man is a genius.

  • 1:15 is the only mistake he's ever made

  • @bernie1111 its not a mistake i think

  • @ilwmb Interesting comment. I actually don't think its a mistake, either...in the sense that it wasn't played unintentionally. It may not have 'worked' but I don't think it was a mistake. He makes plenty of mistakes, though...live and on record. It's just that they often work. "If you don't make mistakes, you're not trying hard enough" (usually attributed to Miles Davis.)

  • @bernie1111 i think its played as a passing note. it's intended articulation.. like Nick Drake's glissando while singing.

  • genio

  • BOWS

  • siiiiiiiiiiiiii :)

  • this really is an amazing piece of music. and, yes, it's 100% nick drake.

    dig that left hand? omg.

  • Why do I have a -6 on my other comment? I'm defending Mehldau, you idiots. Why are there so many stupid fucking people on this site?

  • Oh my god. This is almost too good to be true.

  • Nick has risen. St. Nick meets God Mehldau.

This is beautiful music. It's more than music.

Thanks Brad. I only wish it was available on a CD.

Along with My Favorite Things, live in France,

    God bless.

  • @ivanhorvath it is on his "like in tokyo" album, and youll be happy to find it even more polished and impressive.

  • @iownallwoot thank you. i did listen to that version as well.

now if only i could find his "my favorite things" recorded in france on a cd, dvd or something! this guy is just beyond human comprehension.

  • @horvathivan

that version is absolutely fucking brilliant

try looking for marciac festival recordings, might work.

  • The song Things Behind the sun is on the album: Live in Tokyo.

  • @fantabenz: exactly. Nick lives. Mehldau resurrects. Amazing piece. Beyond music. Only Brad is able to do this. Many try, but all fail. Is the end beautiful, or what!

  • its not a mistake, its jazz :P

  • he's a giant.

  • I can't stop listening to this song. It is amazing the way he plays...love the base line. I wish I could find the piano music to this song!

  • He should play ''Place to be'' too.

  • Hermosa, relajante, terapéutica...

  • I can hear Nick Drake in the way he plays it...as far as he takes it, Brad always preserves the spirit of the tunes he plays..

  • You hear Nick's voice exactly!

  • 533 views... I'm probably responsible for a hundred of them..

  • i feel the same way .. well not for this video but on a lot of other shit up on youtube.

  • minimal fail. no biggie.

  • its funny that we use fail in common language due to failBlog..but that little minor second had some flavor

  • where is it ?

  • Am I wrong or he makes a mistake at 1:15?

    One of his best covers!

  • At 1.15 ..... I think you're right.

  • It's just a dissonance. It's hard to tell whether he intended it or not, but listen to his cover of Martha My Dear.

The dissonances are clearly intentional in that song, but because they are uncomfortable to listen to, can we call them mistakes?

  • What is dissonances to one is pure harmony and sense to the other.

  • How does my post imply that the dissonance is a bad thing in the SLIGHTEST bit? Dissonance is dissonance; it cannot be pleasing in a physical sense. That is its very definition! But my post, which you and all of the other mouth-breathers could not read accurately, defends his choice of dissonance because of the sheer beauty that comes from its resolution. But of course, you and the others have to give my comment a negative rating because of your lack of reading comprehension.
