Are you nuts?! I've been infected for 4 years now and trust me. Herpes is a SKIN condition. Which means it can be passed on through skin on skin contact. Even when you don't have an outbreak. Herpes resides in the nerve system causing it to be uncurable and it's very vulnerable to slight contact. If you wipe too roughly after a bathroom visit that can even cause an outbreak! @tknlyg according to medical research genital herpes can be contagious at anytime even when an OB is not active. according to medical research condoms do very little against protection against genital herpes. it is proven that you are more at risk of getting herpes while wearing protection then you would be if the infected person had hiv or hepatitis.

The microscopic pores in our skin would be just the opening the herpes virus would need to "get through into our bodies". It is just and easier transfer from open sore to another because the bacteria will make a faster connection to the blood stream and such. :)
