I hope that a movie is never made from the riftwar seris. His books are a taste of magic beyond anything that will ever be written, his books have an esencess that could never be able captured in a film.
mr feist its time for a new PC game. Return and betrayal of krondors were brilliant and ahead of their time with a great story told. I wish to feel again what these gems made me feel the first time i installed and played them.
I was SO afraid of Murmandamus and the Moredhel when I read "The Rift Wars" as a teen. Creating this fictional world inside my head kept me from becoming an airheaded teen who doesn't reflect upon it's society and behavior. I'd like to thank you Raymond if you ever read this, you and your characters raised me to an extent where my parents couldn't.
PS "Moredhel" sounds awesome in swedish since HEL is the godess of death in our old religion and "Mord" is murder, the connection makes it creepy!
looking forward to reading the final concluding novels of Midkemia and the Riftwar cykle, while at the same feeling sad it's all coming to an end and not wanting to turn the very last pages, knowing it will all be over! I remember coming to the end of other fantasy series and not wanting them to end while at the time wanting to find out what happens to the world and the characters :)
@kght222 meh, im just about to start Kings Buccaneer so i really have no idea what your talking about. But then again, that sort of stuff wasn't unheard of back in the day. I mean Awari in Prince of the Blood was gonna marry his niece.
I just started reading Ramond's books again and I have really missed the adventures of Pug and Tomas and Kulgan. They are just such great characters and a wonderful, dark story
awesome books. my fav of all time. just getting through the latest one 'At the gates of darkness'. The only thing I dont like is it takes too long for the next book to come out = / . Thanks Ray, for giving me the oppurtunity to experience Midkemia. =)
@dixon97a If someone was to make a movie of the riftwar books, i would be worried that they would try and cram too many books into one film and fail to capture the thrill and imagination that feist has created. I think if it was to be done it would have to be created on a magnitude and budget that has never been seen before, or else it would risk becoming another tacky film about magic. Would also need the right director who would use feist's readers as the target audience for the film
@luke182 yes, i fear that too, although that if peter jackson or steven spielberg would direct it, it might be a good movie, no? i agree with you anyway, but i'm confident that they could make a good film about this too.
@coolman784 the riftwar books would be the easiest to direct a Trilogy of it. Another "Lord of the Rings" would be great, since the last real good fantasy movie was another 10 - 7 years ago.
I have read every single book except Rides a dread legion and at the gates of darkness. ive read them all 2-3 times each im the biggest fan you could possibly imagine!!! i love you Raymond E. Feist (for your books, nothing Awkward......)
He builds a story so well. He introduces characters slowly, but what you learn later pays off, and the whole story builds upon itself quite nicely! Brilliant writer.
i am also a fan of david gemmel but hes dead rip dave they have 2 completely different styles of fantasy so u cannot really compare them but i think rays view of the midkemia religion is a really good view of religion!!!
found out about his books few months ago im on king of foxes at the moment and loving them all theyre amazing, i hate/love how characters die and the story moves on, unique writer , amazing :)
Just finished reading "At the gates of darkness" it was good, but still doesn't go it who/what or why is behind all this. Ive got a few ideas, could be either Macros, the dreadlords, or kalkin the god of tricks.
lol i love how when people know they are wrong but dont want to admit it they try to play that card, doesnt work, still couldn't give a fuck what you think lol.
It will be cool if he wrote a series about Ashen Shugar and the dragon lords after this. Would love to see how they lived and conquered different worlds.
agreed ... although some of his writing like those based on some early '90's pc video games were a bit subpar. overall he's descriptive enough to immerse the reader into a vibrant world. very imaginative.
wow, i have ready every book of raymond's and just finished "rides a dread legion", the book was so freakin good i finished it in a day :(, now i have to wait a couple more months for the next one...
I disagree. The Serpentwar was fucking AMAZING, and Talon of the Silver Hawk was very exciting in the way it kicked off the series. However Ive found the series deteriorated sharply after, Rides a Dread Legion was wwaaaayyy too short, none of the usual heavy detail, things just happened too fast, it just all seems so out of no where, and not the usual long planning he evidenced. The Serpentwar and the Acoma series were by far his best years, I think now he just want to move on
was that supposed to be a comment to my statement? or someone else's, i do agree with you on the fact that it did seem a bit rushed, i guess its so huge however hes trying to tie as much stuff up as possible
i agree with your first statement but not about the part serpent and acoma were the best, the original 3 will always be my fav, but that's just my opinion good to hear other peoples.
@idontwantcows The original three are my favourite as well. However the depth of detail and the range of planning in the Acoma and Serpent War Series is beautiful. The original riftwar reflect his first writing attempt, the plot is very flat, where as the Serpent War has elements from the very begginning.
Nothing will bring the nostaligia an affection quite like almost feeling Jimmys pain at Aruthas false death in Sethanon, but in terms of a better constructed story, Serpentwar hands down.
they're not dead, fair enough nakor finishes up but he'll back in a macros fashion i hope, but i don't recall Pug dying at the end, Fiest leaves it up in the air but he CAN'T kill him, he's an integral character.
I was forever picking up books and never finishing them, until a friend recommended Magician to me. I'm now almost finished A Darkness at Sethanon. Great books, eager to read more from the series.
LOVE Raymond E feist's Books read all of em (excluding faerie tale) this book was brilliant except for the end, i mean comon i wont give it away but jeez what an anticlimatic ending. But idc he is a genius and i would never get sick of this series plz dont end it Mr. E feist...lol
if he stops wrighting books aboud midkremia or story's around the riftwars i will persenoly kill him bycose then he did his part in thus world. Bud till then im the number 1 feist fan
never heard of these books from feist when did they come out? and do i need to read these or are they like the legends of the great rift war? sorry for my english i'm from the netherlands
Awesome writer, finished reading this about a month ago, and I have a good clue about who is behind it all. Well 3 actually. Its either the greater universe just playing with everything, learning and discovering. or it is the Nameless one but I dont think so. but I think its MACROS who is behind it all. Think about it, macros has been at every major event, the crossing of the golden bridge, he fought Maarg, and was on the Dasati homeworld. Also he tried to ascend to Godhood.
a small few tragic moments what are you talking about feist that was a horible tragdy it broke my heart to read the final chapter
but still you are the best author i have ever read from and i admit this book was sheer brillance you rock feist i have read all of the books up till this one except the empire trilogy and jummy the hand and murder in lamut i cant belive how great a author you are
god i have a long way to go i just got done with silverthorn about 6 hours ago. i plan on reading all his books though. thanks for the vid! and long live Feist Fans!
I'm definitely one of those who has been touched by Ray's books in much more than just entertainment. The knowledge he stores inside the pages of these novels are things I include in my everyday life including the quote I live by every single day:
The brave man is not the one without fear, but the one who does what he must despite being afraid. To succeed, you must be willing to risk total failure. - Raymond E. Feist
