  • impressive high notes and rhythm good job guys

  • I don't bsuppose you guy will ever tour the midwest?

  • freddy just rolled over in his grave

but only to turn the volume up

    Amazing job guys

    sublime

  • Love it, even though he gets the lyrics wrong from time to time.

  • @plasticspand OH NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

  • amazing!!

  • Hit that note!!

  • awesome. my fave song.

  • it's always hard to follow freddy mercury but you guys did good ^^

  • @LiquidFriction It's very hard to follow Freddie Mercury. No one can really. When Freddie sings the 'why' he never inhales.

Listen to 'Queen & David Bowie Under Pressure Acapella'.

  • @1:58 that is amazing!

  • holy shit.. that was awesome

  • I like this even better than the original!! :D I want it on my iPod now!!!! :D

  • ehh... i wouldn't go that far but it was really really good ^_^

  • I imagine living them in the same house doing everything at the same time while singing...

  • imagine them*

  • @alexs0t0

That would be the best day of my life! that would make the me want to sing too but scared i would mess the harmony

  • Wow, these guys are absolutely brilliant!

  • WOW love this!!

    Go Patrick Cento!

    1:55 blows me away =)

  • oh my gosh.... wonderful!!

  • Patrick Cento's got GAME

  • I love this song and I love hearing it sang in this style of singing

  • The soloist is amazing! Amazing voice! Amazing group!

  • AWESOME

  • Ótimoooo!!!!!!!! Adorei!!

  • It's funny how people start lauging at the beginning because they think its going be Ice Ice Baby.

  • @iamchinax ice got sued because he stole the beat lol

  • Strike one.

  • Pro lol

  • soloist is in my fraternity. you should hear him sing all day long. doesnt get old in mu opinion

  • the thing is, freddy mercury was such an amazing vocalist. he is the absolute definition of voice as an instrument. i've always said there are 2 bands you can never cover, queen and nirvana. ladies and gentlemen, i stand corrected.

  • Pretty good singer. A good example of how to go from false-setto to normal voice is from ~1:00-1:15 - very impressive. Sounds very fluid. Koodos to the person who did the arrangement - very hard to do for this song.

  • I think his voice is amazing

  • One of the best renditions I've heard of my favourite song :]

  • Pat fucking rocks. Amen brotha.

  • WOW! That high note was intense! Awesome job dude!

  • lovely!

  • Marry me?

  • cant get enough of it

  • fantastic solo. especially towards the end

  • 1:57-about 2:04 is a bit scetchy. Other than that great performance!

  • awesome soloist! im blown away!

  • The group tends to sound a little flat, but this guy keeps it pitch perfect. (most of the time)! I want to hear more of him!!!

  • This is such a hard song to do, not only because of the immense vocal talent necessary, but because of the emotion. this song means a lot to a lot of people and this is a wonderful tribute. Congratulations on doing a superb job.

  • wow. guys you have no clue what that song means to me. at first when i saw that some people had turned one of my favorite songs of all time that means the most to me, i was about to go off on you guys but then i saw how you well you performed and i was just awestruck. i literally mean this when i say that it almost made me cry on how good it was. i said 'almost'. i didnt actually cry. but once again i congradulate you on your performance and wish you guys luck.

  • :D.

    haha I got so happy.

  • I like the audience in this vid. compared to the other UC Octet vids, they're nice and quiet during the song...

  • i got goosebumbs from this

  • i l0ve it!

  • what am i missing...its called octet..but theres seven of them?

  • they could call themselves a duet and i'd give them no less respect!!

  • I think it's the angle of the camera. There are eight of them. I was there. ^-^

  • nope, they're are only 7, watch the other vids

  • There are 8 in this group. There were only 7 around 2003 because one guy had to do something or other.

  • They are eight. Search for other videos, they are eight. Sometimes, they are in seven, but they group is formed by eight singers.

  • awesometown!

  • amazing, almost better than freddie aha jk but really good though

  • UC men rule.... but Queen is better than anyone. it was very well done... i know how hard barbershop can be lol

  • Don't forget David Bowie! (^_^)

  • a good job - a bit rushed but i like it

  • woww

  • Wow. Seeing that this exists makes me love singing even more. Does that make sense?

  • SUHweeet

  • Happy birthday Pat!!

  • Valiant effort by the lead tenor.

Singing in that area can be scary for men who don't know how to cover their voices and don't execute head voice properly.

Beautiful, but there were some questionable choices. The joy of live performance. (sigh ;p) When performing this again, consider lowering the key by a whole step or even a third. Protect your tenor.

    best,

    operamudflower

  • omg ive been watching all of these UC men's octet vids...and they have made my night.

    you guys are amazing :]

  • same <3 I wanna go to one of their shows or something :P

  • Same here!! They are really good!!

  • oh man 1:58 , was epic winner

  • :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he's soooo good!

  • i watch this video everyday because it actually relieves pressure :D

  • god he has a BEAUTIFUL voice! gotta love a tenor <3

  • That was fantastic.

  • whoaow!!! the last part with the harmonising and the high notes is a KILLER!

  • thats awesome

  • These are the days it never rains but it pours.

  • great

  • Gee, that Patrick is a really good singer. I love Queen and they did a really great job.

  • Oh damn this dude has one hell of a voice. Wow

  • Gave me the chills when he went high! (then again, I'm in a cold room)

  • you should hear freddie do it!

  • can u reply the link of freddie singing it?

  • OMG really goood!! grettings!!

  • awesome

  • oh wow im in love!

  • great arrangement. you're voice makes me kind of sentimental...xD

  • Pat, this is so awesome!! Where is this, Dwinelle?

  • I'm inspired I'm making an octet, or quartet, or something

  • fuckin quality, well done lads

  • freakin great bravo guys.

  • Bien joué les gars!!

  • I'm in love.

  • Ok...the only thing I can say is ENCORE!

  • that first soloist is absolutely AMAZING!

  • I donnow why but I laughed a lot when it started

  • i wish there was a better recording of this

  • Jason Mabie!!

  • These guys are by far my favorite year! and Pat is my favorite!!!!! I listen to this song alone probably 5 times a day at least!

  • so i just about died when he started singing. in a good way.

and when they all came together in unison at the end? melted my world. :)

  • this si incredible i wish i could sing like that

  • their Are very few people i this world that can follow freddy mercury and this was a great job

  • agreed :D sounds kinda like him tbh :)

  • Amazing performance! I was moved!

  • i like this song

  • um. wow

  • The eaduy has an incredible fulsetto, geat song and great cover of it, love accapella stuff so much...I'm a singer but don't know how you guys manage to sustain such intricate harmonies.

  • this is sooo amazing... i've watched so many of the UC mens octet and i think they are all amazing but the guys of '07 are the by far the best in my opinion and i love patricks voice!! i wish i could have seen these guys in person.. that would have been amazing!

  • At first I expected them to go: ice ice baby!

Curse you Robert Van Winkle! For ruining one of the greatest songs ever!

  • Awesome, Love the snaps and claps :):):):):)

  • just awsome one of the greatest things I've ever heard done a cappella.

  • spectacular and really mezmorizing!

  • Wow, you pretty much nailed this cover. Absolutely brilliant.

  • I've been checking out a bunch of the UC Men's octet vids, and you guys are amazing. Wonderful stuff. :D

  • These guys are AWESOME...I am listening to all the videos...5 stars!!

One thing though...the audience is so rowdy, it is annoying...I want to hear the choir, not the audience

  • how are they being rowdy? they're showing their appreciation for the song and for the soloist

  • Like I said before...I'd rather hear the group, not the audience. It's just audience etiquette to hold their appreciation until after the song.

  • you do have a point about audience etiquette, however what you need to understand is that this was at a college campus event and things are much more relaxed and light hearted. if the audience were more quiet it would make a greater video true, but i think you should be thankful that the video was even posted and recognize that how the audience is reacting is simply the norm in a college environment.

  • ha ha ye!

  • nicely put. thanks!

jeez. hate comments are so irritating especially when i didn't have to upload these videos . . . since they were really recorded for my bf and the other guys in the octet.

  • Okay I understand (:

  • This group of young men is amazing! They had a very challenging song and I believe they nailed it. Great job! I love the lead's voice. =)

  • Fantastic! Real talent covering a great song!

  • Double Thumbs up!!

  • i love to hear these guys sing...i'd buy their cds if they made them

  • Brilliant!!

  • great work! talk about an awesome falsetto. and i love the energy in this.

  • so...

    you're the ignorant one, correct?

  • My favorite song. Did it justice. Audience was crappy. That high note was spot on. Loved it. Great voice lead.

  • OMG that high note was AMAZING

love this song gave me major chills

  • gave me chills, i love this

  • 'Under Pressure' (this song) was written by David Bowie & Queen in 1981.

Billy Joel has a song called 'Pressure' released in 1982 that is completely dissociated from this one.

Also.. I am mystified at your comment, clearly this song doesn't even bear any semblance to Billy Joel's style.

  • How often do they practice?

  • ok children....just so no one else gets their panties in a bunch...

"Under Pressure evolved from a jam session the band had with Bowie at its studio in Montreux, Switzerland, therefore it was credited as co-written by the five musicians."

  • This is youtube, what would we all do if we weren't allowed to get our knickers in a bunch in the comments?

  • I am in love with this song...

and the boys who are singing...

    what amazing talent!

  • it was written by Queen and David Bowie who sang the original. It was written during a jamming session when they were sharing the same recording studios!

  • never said it was made by an "emo band" i just said they made a version ch and you call us ignorant labels blow btw.

  • Queen (the queen that included the person who wrote and sung this song) Freddie Mercury. David Bowie sang it later.

  • Actually that's wrong. It was a Queen AND Bowie song to begin with. Bowie helped write it and his contribution should not be overlooked. There was a version before Bowie came to the studios but it was different and had a different name (though I can't remember what now).

  • People in the streets, maybe? :)

  • No PantheraUnica it was under the title "Feel Like" Queen wasn't satisfied with the results and the final result was "Under Pressure" after having a jam session with David Bowie in Switzerland. You could probably find a bootleg version of "Feel Like"

  • Actually it was QUEEN

  • the song was originally queen and david bowie

  • i don't even know how to respond to that

  • The Used have version out and i like theirs Queen's was OK but i like The Used's better. didn't think that would offend anyone sorry

  • hmm i've never heard it before, i'll have to look it up

  • i'm alternative Rocker so it's pretty good by my standards

  • I love the hint of gospel to the end of this. it's all the clapping and it works.

  • Awesome, and it just sounds really fresh.

  • i would say that 2003 years group was better, but still - good singing

  • I love this guy from when he sang "Uptown Girl!"

  • wow, really great job :)

  • wow! this was amazing! good job guys!

  • Pat you sounded great and it was good to hear you sing again, hope to always hear you sing, great job.

    LBurt

  • Pat you sounded great, it was good to hear you sing and hope to always hear you, LBurt

  • He did such a good job with this song! I love all the people that laugh at the beginning 'cause they think it's a different song.... ^_^

Anyone get a video of "I Will Follow You Into the Dark?"

  • I have it... but the file size is too big to upload

  • yah, I bet they thought of "Ice Baby"
