Ray was my neighbor 35 years ago in Nashville, Tn. I just heard of his passing eariler this year. I used to really enjoy visiting with Ray. I remember he had a red 442 he loved alot. He was looking for work for about a year before he landed a job with Loretta Lynn. I remember his wife was so beautiful. They were such nice people to know and truly the country boy next door. It was a pleasure to know them back then. I always remembered Ray and I am sad for his family today.
The Branson entertainment community mourns the passing of Ray Burdette Wednesday at his home in Branson.
Burdette was one of the original cast members of the TV show “Hee Haw.” Known as “Ricochet Ray,” Burdette sang bass with Roy Clark and Grandpa Jones, and told jokes in the cornfield with Lulu. He also sang with “The Statesmen” and toured with Loretta Lynn.
Ray Burdette came to Branson in the early 1990s, working with Wayne Newton at his theater. Burdette died of complications from cance
@ozziecx Oh, I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's passing. My condolences & prayers during this sad time for you all. But what a joyful time it is for him.
In this clip, from left to right, are Ray Burdette, Grandpa Jones, Roy Clark, and Joe Babcock of the Nashville Edition. Babcock replaced Buck Owens when Buck left the show. I also thought that after Kenny Price died, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Ray Burdette, and another Nashville Edition member Hershul Wigginton sang bass with the quartet.
i know the guy next to roy is the guy from the back up group of the nashville edition but who is the bass who by the way was a sad replacement for the original
I think I read where he was in his 60's...looks about half that~~

Great tune. I especially like the bass singer's voice. Roy and Grandpa look older, like this was in the late 80's?
