  • I think I read where he was in his 60's...looks about half that~~

  • How old was Ray?

  • These guys sounded great together. Is any of this stuff available for purchase?

  • Ray was my neighbor 35 years ago in Nashville, Tn. I just heard of his passing eariler this year. I used to really enjoy visiting with Ray. I remember he had a red 442 he loved alot. He was looking for work for about a year before he landed a job with Loretta Lynn. I remember his wife was so beautiful. They were such nice people to know and truly the country boy next door. It was a pleasure to know them back then. I always remembered Ray and I am sad for his family today.

  • RIP Ray!

  • Simply the best.

They cannot sing like this with todays talent.

  • I was so saddened to hear about Ray's passing. We'll miss his music.

  • The Branson entertainment community mourns the passing of Ray Burdette Wednesday at his home in Branson.

Burdette was one of the original cast members of the TV show “Hee Haw.” Known as “Ricochet Ray,” Burdette sang bass with Roy Clark and Grandpa Jones, and told jokes in the cornfield with Lulu. He also sang with “The Statesmen” and toured with Loretta Lynn.

Ray Burdette came to Branson in the early 1990s, working with Wayne Newton at his theater. Burdette died of complications from cance

  • @rogermc1967 Thanks for the wonderful note. I know all who read this is appreciative. RIP Ray. GOD Bless You. Charlie

  • @rogermc1967 Gene Williams also passed away about 2 weeks ago, sorry but but you had mentioned the Branson community.

  • My Friend the Bass Singer Ray Burdette went home today 7-20-2011 and Gods choir has gained a great bass singer. I will miss you old friend.

  • @ozziecx I am so sorry. I think he was great. Just listen. Thanks a lot for the comment and the information. GOD Bless You and Ray. Charlie

  • @ozziecx Oh, I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's passing. My condolences & prayers during this sad time for you all. But what a joyful time it is for him.

  • I love this....wish I could hear it better!

  • In this clip, from left to right, are Ray Burdette, Grandpa Jones, Roy Clark, and Joe Babcock of the Nashville Edition. Babcock replaced Buck Owens when Buck left the show. I also thought that after Kenny Price died, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Ray Burdette, and another Nashville Edition member Hershul Wigginton sang bass with the quartet.

  • Great tune. I especially like the bass singer's voice. Roy and Grandpa look older, like this was in the late 80's?

  • Kenny died quite a few years ago...

  • It not a good for the other singer to have one with his hands in his pockets and rolling of eyes.Jack

  • @TheLongshot11 They'll get by.

  • @navydoctrinidad Hah, You said that right. Singing like that he can poke his fingers in his eye's for all I care. This is REAL and GOOD.

  • @TheLongshot11 Get over the hands,,listen to the words of the song!!!!!

  • Where's Kenny Price?

  • I love the Hee Haw Gospel Quartet. It brings back wonderful memories!

  • Fantastic....thanks for posting. They are all great, especially Ray Burdette.

I have not been able to find the lyrics to this song on any of the lyrics sites I have saved. Does anyone know where they can be found?

  • @keepsunny in any old Hymn book

  • Kids today need this music.

  • Magical!

  • Wow how this brings back memories of my childhood. On Saturday evening we would all gather around the tv and watch the Hee Haw show.

  • @redneck452004 Join the crowd. When I was little we listened to the Golden Gate Quartet and earlier ones. Thanks for watching.

  • Lordy, I wish we could take the whole country back to those days. So much easier, simpler.

  • Bass singer is Ray Burdette

  • @Themartynsmith Thanks a lot. That is good information and I know the folks who have commented are also thankful.

  • @Themartynsmith And doin a right good job at it too!

  • Who's the bass singer???

  • @Rev1981 I don't know his name. Maybe someone will help us out.
