  • Brilliant releases

  • this is her best routine ever!

  • @europegymfan123 agreed...only if she could have done this at the Olympics...lol..she was great on this when she hit..now days she would be just fine

  • nice def and jaeger!

  • Lovely def! Severino's is nice sometimes too!

  • she could use some work

  • Olga Korbut is Belarusian. Some names don't change (check out my comment above). Yelena does the best Def ever! Perfect form!

  • But alas, she doesn't hit her handstands perfectly.

  • True, but perfect handstands were not as important to scoring in 97 as they are now.

  • What about Olga Korbut's name? Should it be Korbuta? And the second release was a piked jaeger. :)

  • I know the first was a Def, what was her second high bar release move?

  • Piked Jaeger

  • Almost all Russian surnames end in -a. If the correspondent male ends in -ov, then it's -ova. (Petrov - Petrova), if it ends in -in, it's -ina. (Khorkin - Khorkina) And yes, Nastia's correct name is Liukina, not Liukin! When a surname ends in -enko or -uk, though, it remains the same. (Karpenko - Lobazniuk)

  • Wow..you are so knowledgeable..what about me..I'm Ponte..

  • Yes great form on the Def - unlike Le Pennec or Severino. And all Russian and Slavic names will end with 'ova' - that's just the way it is. So for example, Alexei Nemov's wife would be Mrs Nemova.

  • Its funny how most russians(gymnasts) first names are usually svetlana yelena or elena and how there last name usually ends with ova or nova

  • Great form on her Def, her legs did not even come apart.
