my tenfdril is wayyyy green but the other signs are all there - off white base, uniform color, tougher skin (nail scratch), cracks when leaning on it, and starting to get a yelowy patch on the skin...not sure if i should pick it yet!!
What kind of melon is it? Is it to size? If you are having cooler weather that can slow down ripening. Remember its the tendril closest to the melon itself. Sounds like I would wait a few.

Yes crimson sweet. Almost all gone now. lol I forgot how good a fresh melon is.
