@DaxonizAmazin Because you have to warm up your horse before you start canterin over jumps. If you just start cantering over jumps, your horse might pull a muscle
@DaxonizAmazin This video is from 2.5 years ago, I have my own horse now and I am training her how to jump. She is Dixie, the palomino mare in my more recent videos. She is doing quite well, and we have gotten to 2 feet 4 inches so far, I am so proud of her! I will be making much more new videos this summer, once the schoolyear ends ^_^ By the way, I trotted at the beginning because we were warming Cameo up; she's no spring chicken and we didn't want her to pull any muscles :)
just to help when you are going down the quarter line after the jump or jumps you dont turn right back to the wall you ride straight to the end and then use your inside leg to keep the horse into the corner if they like to cut corners :)
I have a green horse too, lots of excitement. (: When your riding you need to push your hip back, and litterly drop your heals into your sturrips. Otherwise your pretty good, just keep your leg still when your trotting (Putting your heal down will help) But great ridding, two point isnt bad!
@nomsie777 it's actually complicated in a way to explain. My instructor trained with the Olympians so it may be harder to explain but when you jump it feels really wierd if you don't lean both forward and back....you need to put you full weight in you tush and heels and lean forward (as far as how far fwd depends on the height of the jump and how rounded the horse is.)
@nomsie777 no you NEVER lean backwards becuase you will get left behind and most likely fall off. if its a drop for cross country then yes you lean back but not over a normal jump! hope this helps!!! :-)
@Woody98Rules Aww thank you so much! No that was a lesson horse, Cameo. She is owned by one of my friends now :) My horse is a 5 year old palomino APHA mare named Dixie. Your can see videos of her on my channel and a new one that involves JuMpInG will be up soon! She is green and is just learning how to jump, so every ride brings some new excitement lol!!! ^_^
Thank you veary much By the way Cameo is the most beutifule horse you look good on her she remindes me of Prancer off of the saddle club do you think she kind of dos too?
@trinitymiller13 No problem! YESSS Cameo is sooo cute and you're right, she does look like Prancer! She used to be a lesson horse but then she was sold to a girl that goes to my school. She is STILL boarded at my barn though, but she isn't used for lessons anymore and is ridden a lot by her great owner :) My horse is a 5 year old palomino Paint mare named Dixie, my recent videos are of her. I looove her so much <3 Take a look if you want, I will be posting up a new video probably on Sunday! ^_^
How do you know when to go up down when trotting? when I rode it felt like I was bounceing around to much when trotting dos it help when you have your heels down? please write back
@trinitymiller13 While you are trotting, look down at the horse's shoulder that is on the wall. You should be out of the saddle when the horse's outside leg is forward. When his outside leg and shoulder are back, you should be in the sitting position. Just remember this key phrase, "Rise and fall with the leg on the wall." Having your heels down at all times definitely helps too, but mainly with balance and security of your leg so you don't tip forward or back. I hope this helps! :D
WOW your a great rider!!! i just started jumping my self and i love it!!! iam at about 1.6 and i need to be at 2feet my the middle of august for my horse show lol but things are good and stuff...but you look great up there though!!!
@LoveRockStarPrincess Thank you so much! God I miss jumping :) I haven't done it in like 7 months because my horse Dixie hasn't been trained to jump yet. But I can't wait until I can do it again, it's so fun! I'm sure you'll be able to jump 2 feet by then, and the very best of luck to you!!! ^_^
@JigsBest Cameo isn't my horse, she's a lesson horse, but I do have my own horse, Dixie. Cameo is VERRRRY sweet though and she was just sold but will still be staying at the stable! I love her ^_^
@123horseluva Nice to meet you, I'm 16 and I've been riding for 6 years, I haven't been able to jump lately because my mare is green and doesn't know how to jump quite yet, but I hope to teach her soon! But I (in the past) usually jumped anywhere from 1'8" to 2'6" cross rails, verticles, and oxers. I wish I could jump more, but until my mare Dixie learns how, I'm stuck on the flat hehe. ^_^
@mrlegomania100 thank you, I LOVE jumping as well! you should check out my more recent vids of my horse, she is a palomino Paint mare and she is so lovely :D
@katebxx This was 1.5 years ago, and Cameo is not my horse, she is a 16 year old lesson mare. My horse is a 5 year old palomino APHA mare. Thanks for the compliments! ^_^
@neealuvsya Thank you! Cameo is not my horse though, I have a palomino mare named Dixie. Cameo is a lesson horse, and she DOES and WAS wearing a bride in this video hehe... I don't quite understand what your talking about? :/
your a great rider and i should know because i have been taking lessons for 10 years straight and your jumping is really good one little tip is if your trotting over the jump keep your horse at the same speed and dont let him break into a canter at the end otherwise great job and keep riding
@jeffersondreamrider Thank you!!! This video is from 1.5 years ago, and I have improved so much since then. I have my own horsey now, who isn't ready yet to learn how to jump, but we'll get there!!! :D
@jeffersondreamrider well that depends sometimes. because Sly, ( a horse with back pain and arthritis) he has to canter right before to get the extra stride so he doesn't hurt himself. and don't say we shudnt ride him, he's fine, Trust me, but Im just saying

@Keithider I know! I love jumping so much! I can't wait until I can teach my horse Dixie how to jump! She is almost solid at all of her gaits, and once she is I can start to teach her how to jump properly with a rider. Lol I hope you have seen others of my videos, because I think this is the first video I ever made! And as you can see haha, it's not the best. My more recent ones are better ^_^
LOL!!! I LOVE jumping, I can't wait until I can start to teach my horse how! This video is from a year and 3 months ago, I have been taking lessons for 6 years now and have my owns horsey now!!! Her name is Dixie and she is a 4 1/2 year old palomino Paint mare with a blue eye. I love her <3 Thank you so much for the comment! ^_^
i am just going to make a friendly suggestion, i mean to unexperienced people you may look really good, and i'm not saying that your not an okay rider. just put some length between your hands, they look like their practically glued together, and then try to keep them steady, otherwise you did an okay job
Um, how about you don't make friendly suggestions anymore? I don't want to start a fight, but I didn't ask for your critique on this video from Jan-Feb of 2009. I don't even know why this vid even has all those views, my newer videos are much better than this, and I have improved. I don't know if you've looked at my channel, but I've got Dixie now, and its different. Ummm... I guess thanks for the comment... maybe? :o
ur really good, i love the horse she is sooooooooooo beautiful, i jump tooon a horse that looks somewhat like her she has the same marking but she is bay.
Thank you so much! Yep thats Cameo, she's one of the lesson horses at my stable. :) I have my own horse now but she hasn't been trained to jump yet, however she loves it so much and I can't wait until I teach her!!! ^_^
Thank you so muchh!!!! Yes ever since getting Dixie I have had to learn a lot, she has "told on me" as far as certain things go because she is green and a more experienced horse would have just ignored my riding flaws lol. So yes my instructor has taught me sooo much, and I'm much more brilliant of a rider now! I will try to get new footage from my next lesson so u can see! ^_^
Great Job! I love the horse that you are riding. What breed is he or she? One thing that I noticed was that in the beginning when you were trotting was that you were on the diagonal.
oh thank you very much! Cameo is a 15 year old chestnut Thoroughbred mare. yep you can check out some of my other (haha more recent) vids if u want. I have improved a LOT and I have a horse of my own now. you can also enter my contest if you like, there's no deadline so you could take as much time as you need. thanks!!! ^_^
wow you were awsome in this i was wondering if you could give me some tips? i am looking a buying a thoroughbred for jumping could you give me some advice on what i should look for in the horse????
Thank you so much!!! Of course I'll give you some tips :) I actually just bought a horse of my own! Her name is Dixie and you can see some vids of her on my channel. Since there is a limit to how much I can say while leaving a comment, how about I just message you? here i go!
hey great horse and he's got a pretty nice jump in him. do u own any horses? i own my favourite pony rocket, shetland pony bella and ive got a conamara called dutches
Haha thanks! That's Cameo and she does have a very smooth jump! I am actually getting my horse this coming Monday! I have a video up of her on my channel, her name is Dixie :) Enjoy! And if u want you can enter my contest! :D
your hands are ok but when you start to jump higher then your hands might start to catch him in the mouth so to fix that hold on to some mane and stay out of the saddle longer
These videos were taken a year ago... check out some of my newer ones, but i haven't posted up a jumping lesson video since august, and ive gotten even better since then. :)
You're a good rider, and he is a pretty horse! I like where your hands are(not lying on his neck-- BRAVO!!) But I don't like how his nose jutts out so far. I know that isn't your fault, it's probably just how your horse is ;). Nice jumping! And I think you should put your shoulders back just a *little* bit when your not actually jumping. But overall you were good and keep up the good work!! Love to see another one of your recent lessons!
Aww, thanks so much! Yeah, the horse isn't mine, she's Cameo, a lesson horse that I ride at my stable. She's not the most conformationally pretty, but she's a good girl. Yes! By all means, PLEASE look at my more recent ones! I'm way more improved. Thank you for commenting! :)
you did pretty good but it looked lik the horse was doing alot of the work. Me and my freind ride alot of the green horses so i know that it can be hard also i know that you can be doing alot but it looks lik the horse is doing all the work but you could wrk on not bouncing so much also you had the wrong diangle in the beging but that was an ok ride
What...the...hell... I don't know why people keep critiquing this video of me from nearly a year ago... I don't really understand what you mean by saying the horse is doing a lot of the work; you don't want to be doing all of the work either or the horse would be completely dependent on you and not think for itself. I have improved a lot since this and people aren't looking at the DATE of when this video was put up. I'm sick of people critiquing me on my not-so-perfect riding from so long ago.
hmm. I've got to admit that is pretty good, but to me it looked like you were moving your arms to much in Jumping Position, or sitting the canter, whatever. Plus, how high is the jump you are jumping at 1:41?
I don't know why people view my very OLDEST video more often than than my NEWEST ones but whatev. I have improved so much since this and I sometimes don't like people's critiques about my position when I'm on Cameo because her jump is so flat that I can't get a good jumping position on her. Whenever I ride Steve or Hercules (not on video yet) my position is so much better. These jumps are very small compared to the ones I jump now. I currently jump 2'-2 1/4'. The one at 1:41 is about 1ft 9in. :)
Nope! She fits me perfectly! She may have long legs, but she has the perfect barrel size to fit my legs, so I'm not like doing the splits on her back, and my feet aren't hanging below her belly or anything. Besides, I've been riding her for the past two years, and I haven't experienced any problems yet! :)
nope she's not, she's actually the perfect size. i don't decide who i get to ride in lessons, and she's the only horse i've ridden in lessons for the past 2.5 years. :)
haha that's what my grandma thought too! but no, she's just wearing a special type of noseband that makes her nose look like it sticks out. if you look at her from certain angles and in my other vids you can tell that she doesn't. i just made a new vid of me riding, but you tube keeps disabling the audio, so i'll have to work something out... :)
hay thanks!!! OMG i have no idea how people keep finding the first video i ever made, and the worst! ha my more recent ones are better; ahaha but thanks a lot for the complements! that's sooo cool! wow i cant wait to see your vids! sure I'll subscribe to you! :D
i like how you ride.. i ride too and i've been riding for 6 years and in november it will be 7 years!! : ) anyway your horse is adorable and my videos are coming soon if you wanna sub they're comin! : )
great riding anyway i wish i could be that good :) i do 2 jumps in a row, trotting but cantering in the middle!! :) i <3 horses soooo much!! check out my account!!!!!i have riding videos on it!!!!
Thank you! Hehe, in this video I didn't get to jump very high, but I hadn't ridden in a few weeks either because I was on vacation. I'm glad you like Cameo! She's really sweet and tries hard for me! :D
How long have you been riding?u guys look really good

@trinitymiller13 While you are trotting, look down at the horse's shoulder that is on the wall. You should be out of the saddle when the horse's outside leg is forward. Why are u deleting my comments?
:(
horseever15 2 years ago
What you mean? I didn't delete you comment! :o
I think maybe You Tube is having some issues because my friend just asked me the same question below lol! ^_^
Sirennah 2 years ago
i am just going to make a friendly suggestion, i mean to unexperienced people you may look really good, and i'm not saying that your not an okay rider. just put some length between your hands, they look like their practically glued together, and then try to keep them steady, otherwise you did an okay job
wildmustang23 2 years ago
Um, how about you don't make friendly suggestions anymore? I don't want to start a fight, but I didn't ask for your critique on this video from Jan-Feb of 2009. I don't even know why this vid even has all those views, my newer videos are much better than this, and I have improved. I don't know if you've looked at my channel, but I've got Dixie now, and its different. Ummm... I guess thanks for the comment... maybe? :o

:O... Don't go deleting my comments, pig smor!

monkeyhorse521 2 years ago
Thank you so much! Yep thats Cameo, she's one of the lesson horses at my stable. :) I have my own horse now but she hasn't been trained to jump yet, however she loves it so much and I can't wait until I teach her!!! ^_^
Sirennah 2 years ago
You look like someone I know. Is your name Gracie? If not than nvm. This is really good. Awesome horse by the way! =]

mlemck101 2 years ago
Wow
It really isnt that hard. I guess you might have improved but this is like 3 ft. Well ... at least for me it isnt hard.
I hoped you learned good stuff. You looked pretty good..
HorsecrazyMare 2 years ago
what u mean?
I never said anything about this being hard... but i jump higher than that now cuz this was a year and a month ago. :)
Sirennah 2 years ago
wait you improved? from THIS? your REALLY good!!!!!
SKDhorserider 2 years ago
Thank you so muchh!!!! Yes ever since getting Dixie I have had to learn a lot, she has "told on me" as far as certain things go because she is green and a more experienced horse would have just ignored my riding flaws lol. So yes my instructor has taught me sooo much, and I'm much more brilliant of a rider now! I will try to get new footage from my next lesson so u can see! ^_^
Sirennah 2 years ago
thankyou!!! :)
this was so long ago lol
Sirennah 2 years ago
ur really good, im about on the same level. =)
nsecrider 2 years ago
thank you so much! this was about a year ago, I've improved SOOO much since then lol :D
Sirennah 2 years ago
Great Job! I love the horse that you are riding. What breed is he or she? One thing that I noticed was that in the beginning when you were trotting was that you were on the diagonal.
horsegurl185 2 years ago
oh thank you very much! Cameo is a 15 year old chestnut Thoroughbred mare. yep you can check out some of my other (haha more recent) vids if u want. I have improved a LOT and I have a horse of my own now. you can also enter my contest if you like, there's no deadline so you could take as much time as you need. thanks!!! ^_^
Sirennah 2 years ago
wow you were awsome in this i was wondering if you could give me some tips? i am looking a buying a thoroughbred for jumping could you give me some advice on what i should look for in the horse????
horselover131000 2 years ago
Thank you so much!!! Of course I'll give you some tips :) I actually just bought a horse of my own! Her name is Dixie and you can see some vids of her on my channel. Since there is a limit to how much I can say while leaving a comment, how about I just message you? here i go!
Sirennah 2 years ago
hey great horse and he's got a pretty nice jump in him. do u own any horses? i own my favourite pony rocket, shetland pony bella and ive got a conamara called dutches
myponyrocket 2 years ago
Haha thanks! That's Cameo and she does have a very smooth jump! I am actually getting my horse this coming Monday! I have a video up of her on my channel, her name is Dixie :) Enjoy! And if u want you can enter my contest! :D
Sirennah 2 years ago
Cool! I tried jumping my horse about 3 feet yesterday, didn't go so well. Nice jumping! Look up jennifer and poetry jumping. Thats me and my hose.
tkuckelman 2 years ago
your hands are ok but when you start to jump higher then your hands might start to catch him in the mouth so to fix that hold on to some mane and stay out of the saddle longer
derbypal37 2 years ago
These videos were taken a year ago... check out some of my newer ones, but i haven't posted up a jumping lesson video since august, and ive gotten even better since then. :)
Sirennah 2 years ago
You're a good rider, and he is a pretty horse! I like where your hands are(not lying on his neck-- BRAVO!!) But I don't like how his nose jutts out so far. I know that isn't your fault, it's probably just how your horse is ;). Nice jumping! And I think you should put your shoulders back just a *little* bit when your not actually jumping. But overall you were good and keep up the good work!! Love to see another one of your recent lessons!
EquiGirl22 2 years ago
Aww, thanks so much! Yeah, the horse isn't mine, she's Cameo, a lesson horse that I ride at my stable. She's not the most conformationally pretty, but she's a good girl. Yes! By all means, PLEASE look at my more recent ones! I'm way more improved. Thank you for commenting! :)
Sirennah 2 years ago
idk why people keep critizing u but this was a while ago but i think u did very well im lucky if i get a really good lesson lol but u did very well!
BillKaulitzLoverKt 2 years ago
haha thank you! I'm glad someone has some faith! :)
Sirennah 2 years ago
no prob i know just how u feel ^^
BillKaulitzLoverKt 2 years ago
you did pretty good but it looked lik the horse was doing alot of the work. Me and my freind ride alot of the green horses so i know that it can be hard also i know that you can be doing alot but it looks lik the horse is doing all the work but you could wrk on not bouncing so much also you had the wrong diangle in the beging but that was an ok ride
liljumpergurl16 2 years ago
What...the...hell... I don't know why people keep critiquing this video of me from nearly a year ago... I don't really understand what you mean by saying the horse is doing a lot of the work; you don't want to be doing all of the work either or the horse would be completely dependent on you and not think for itself. I have improved a lot since this and people aren't looking at the DATE of when this video was put up. I'm sick of people critiquing me on my not-so-perfect riding from so long ago.
Sirennah 2 years ago
hmm. I've got to admit that is pretty good, but to me it looked like you were moving your arms to much in Jumping Position, or sitting the canter, whatever. Plus, how high is the jump you are jumping at 1:41?
EquestrianGal4life 2 years ago
I don't know why people view my very OLDEST video more often than than my NEWEST ones but whatev. I have improved so much since this and I sometimes don't like people's critiques about my position when I'm on Cameo because her jump is so flat that I can't get a good jumping position on her. Whenever I ride Steve or Hercules (not on video yet) my position is so much better. These jumps are very small compared to the ones I jump now. I currently jump 2'-2 1/4'. The one at 1:41 is about 1ft 9in. :)
Sirennah 2 years ago
aww, awesome ride, but is the horse not just a tiny bit big for you?
PSPuji 2 years ago
Nope! She fits me perfectly! She may have long legs, but she has the perfect barrel size to fit my legs, so I'm not like doing the splits on her back, and my feet aren't hanging below her belly or anything. Besides, I've been riding her for the past two years, and I haven't experienced any problems yet! :)
Sirennah 2 years ago
this is a good video but dosnt the horse look a tiny bit big for you?
majorfruit 2 years ago
nope she's not, she's actually the perfect size. i don't decide who i get to ride in lessons, and she's the only horse i've ridden in lessons for the past 2.5 years. :)
Sirennah 2 years ago
its hard to tell from the video but does Cameo have a roman nose?
zandi02 2 years ago
haha that's what my grandma thought too! but no, she's just wearing a special type of noseband that makes her nose look like it sticks out. if you look at her from certain angles and in my other vids you can tell that she doesn't. i just made a new vid of me riding, but you tube keeps disabling the audio, so i'll have to work something out... :)
Sirennah 2 years ago
ah ok, i wasn't quite sure cuz sometimes it looked that way and other times it didnt, thanks for answering, btw, great riding
